What does it take to win?

I totally agree. I don’t know. I was Diamond and stayed in high plat several seasons and then dropped last season. I get what your saying and I agree with you. I don’t know man. If I understood then I would not be so frustrated at this game and asking for help online.

Your profile is private you could be just making up nonsense for all we know

You need to post a video. No way anybody can help otherwise.

how about play some roadhog in silver no one should kill you if you are diamond player and they have really bad aim and they dont move out the way when you shoot them or hook them or zarya and always have a high charge cuz they always shot the bubble and help keep them alil more alive and you can team kill them all by yourself with her at high charge and ult.

Try LFG. My stats aren’t that good (you can check them out because I don’t keep profile private), but I’ve still been doing fine. If you’re that strong of a carry for your tier then grouping up with dedicated tank and support players is going to make your games very easy until you’re not getting like 40% damage.

Grand Masters… please tell me he has to get good or better to win [/quote]

That’s GM.
I once had a GM level S76 in a QP game pull a juke move on me (as a meh 3k player) that I still to this day have no idea how it worked. I’ve also been punched, not shot but punched out of the sky by a GM level Pharah main in an air to air battle.

You’re in silver.
I’ve punched silver McCree and Bastions to death in QP games, as Lucio. I’ve also allowed a silver Genji to just stand behind me trying to hit me. As I could kill most of his team from the high ground and due to just a simple slow back and forth ADADAD he could not hit me, at all.

If you’re not winning games in silver while having 3k SR mechanical skills then you have serious core level game sense, ULT econ and positional play errors. Just stop looking at your stats and just focus on why you are not helping your team do what it needs to win games.

I mean unless your issue is just not playing enough games? Like your current 1.8k SR is based off 10 placements and just 3 unlucky games of comp and you stopped playing. You’re not going to win every game but 3k player in silver should be able to win 60%-70%+ with no problem.

more like 80% I went 8-1-1 on my plat smurf this guy should have no problem in winning almost every game

Players in the Silver games I am in do not stand still. They get team wipes and they seem better than the plat players I played with for several seasons.

That being said, suddenly without any rhyme or reason I am now winning nearly every single match and gaining 30SR per win. Not sure who flipped the light switch and made this easy mode all of a sudden.

Now I have players on my team who are actually using a mic, they say to group up and they actually do that, and they co-ordinate ULT’s and the support are prioritizing heals much better than what I have seen the past 10 matches.

Looks like I am climbing again and will be back to Plat in no time.

Luck, it takes Luck to win.
You will have a fun Time when you get Teams that work togehter, and you will have alot of more Times just having Teams that just wont work.
Yes im frustrated btw.

Win/losses are mostly determined by luck in Overwatch. This game has an extremely large factor of randomness that is out of your individual control. Accept that and enjoy the game for what it is - casual random fun.

It’s how the developers designed this game, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Worry less about wins/losses and focus more on just having your own fun with the heroes you enjoy playing.

People need to be smarter with character choices. There are a lot of specific scenarios where a character will be effective for your team while being effective against the enemy but it requires good game knowledge.

To keep things simple, make a 2/2/2 set up where you have one main shield tank, then choose the off tank that best compliments the main tank. Choose a dps core that can play off each others strengths and make sure your healers are efficient at healing your tanks and dps.

People think they are safe if they just follow 2/2/2 but tell me if a team of Zarya roadhog widow mccree Ana and briggette sounds like a solid team composition

Because the game resolves on hero select

Doesn’t matter anymore if you are bad or not.

If you don’t play the following setup EVERY SINGLE GAME no matter what you will lose.

Mercy - Must pick , anything else like lucio-ana = throwing
Reinhart - Must pick
Zarya - Must pick, anything else like D.va.Winston = Throwing
Zenyatta
Hanzo - must pick for grav

Are you really asking what it takes to win, or are you just trying to get people to say how awesome you are and that you don’t deserve silver?

If you actually want people to give you advice you can use, make your profile public and share some videos of your play.

You won’t find anyone on the forums who says you are great just the way you are, so you’ll have to look for that elsewhere.

Lose this mentality. Having gold elims as soldier is expected. His entire job is to get picks. If you get silver or gold healing as soldier, then you have something to complain about.

That’s what annoys me about the matchmaker. It’s not consistent at all. The system is so broken that whatever elo you are in is basically no reflection of your skill level (except I guess at the highest levels). I’ve had teammates in high plat that I could not believe ever made it out of bronze.

Even the PBSR system is all over the place. I’ll have one game where I gain 30 SR, then the next game I gain 48 SR, then 27 SR. Or I lose 12 SR then 15 SR then 25 SR. I know my performance tends to be very consistent, so what is with those random fluctuations?

You’d expect all games to be at a certain skill level based on whatever elo you are in, but no. It’s like a lottery of whether you get good teammates or not, deciding the game. My last game, I had 4 good teammates and one AWFUL teammate. Luckily me and my good teammates were good enough to basically win a 5v6 while our reaper spent all game trying to spawn camp the enemy by himself (while we kept telling him to stop trying to spawn camp and group with the team) and getting killed, quickly followed by the enemy team rushing the five of us, who we then proceeded to kill.

And the reaper ended up getting awarded with an SR gain, probably thinking he played well since he won and will continue to use his ridiculous “try to spawn camp all 6 of the enemy” strategy in his future games

So instead of playing Rein properly, you played him as a DPS letting your DPS get killed since they had no sheild to hide behind and even though the healers tried their best to keep everyone up they couldn’t since no one had a shield too hide behind since you were to busy trying to kill people and dying instead of protecting your DPS and letting them do the killing, but nope it’s definitely ALLLLL their fault and not yours AT all

Explains why I’ve won multiple games with Dive this season against the current meta

It’s pretty close…
There are no silvers in diamond and no true diamond player is stuck down in gold. The match maker can throw a person lame matches and player are not always consistent in their over all play.

but as I’ve said before there is a very clear hierarchy of game play from tier to tier. Masters play like masters, golds all play like golds. You learn how to play/climb +1 tier higher by figuring out what it takes to win in your current tier and reach tier has it’s own unique issues.

and this is all 100% proven by VOD reviews as we are now starting to see more and more content creators looking to just run entire twitch channels off VOD reviews. It’s hard to really accept your SR isn’t your skill when a GM can point out every single error a gold is making, every error a diamond is making. The coach for the Dallas Fuel has a twitch channel breaking down errors of contender or even OWL level team play.

but “whatever elo you are in is basically no reflection of your skill level”… Yeah ok /s

So, let me tell you and your ego a story. “It’s not okay to have less damage than a support”
Well, I play tank and support. Once on anubis I had an 11k damage gold medal as well as silver elims on zenyatta
Silver damage and gold elims were held by our roadhog. Now, a tank and a support have the medals for damage and elims, you must think :“Our dps are so bad”
No, not at all. One was a genji and one was a soldier. The genji had bronze alims and the soldier bronze damage. They weren’t bad, they were doing their job.
The genji was constantly in the enemy backline, the soldier always had his eye on the pharah. They got bronze because they weren’t focusing on padding their stats, they were focusing on their priority target : the supports and the pharah.

so yes, even if the soldier got 1 pick on the pharah per teamfight and the genji got the support, that’s not a lot of kills, but the number of kills doesn’t matter because they did their job. They allowed us to win because the pharah wasn’t harassing us because she was dead, the ennemy wasnt getting heale dbecause they had no more supports.

I got gold damage because I was farming trance on the ennemy tanks. Silver elims because I was hitting whatever everyone was fighting as well and so did our roadhog.

But we won because our dps didnt care about stats, they cared about doing their job, and something tells me , all you care about is stats. Maybe your other dps didnt have gold. But maybe his job was taking out the supports, and he did it, while you were over there shooting a shield and getting your damage stats up.

Man, people call me a smurf below high silver when i play widow . And I’m just a mid gold support main. I’ve tilted hard and dropped down to 1200 from 2100 in season 9, all i had to do was play widowmaker every match since I know that i wouldn’t be contested. If a gold support main can climb out of bronze and silver using a Widowmaker with 16% crit accuracy, I highly doubt a Diamond/High plat DPS main will have issues going 1v6 as long as you are pocketed to a bare minimum.

Then again, you can check my profile, stats don’t lie, and i have no reason to hide mine. that 71% winrate on widow on my profile for season 9 is a really good example of “Farmed stats”. Sure, it looks cool, but it was at a lower elo.
