I feel like it was a great direction to go but just a bit uninspired. The devs should have reversed it and treated it like a part of Hog’s kit rather than something they just tossed onto him.
I put my idea here: Roadhog: Take a Breather but in reverse
Part of me wants to replace the healing aoe with some form of damage resist for any inside.
Short version-
- Hog has an aoe field passively around him that either lowers damage or heals (heal is boring but w/e)
- When hog uses Take a breather, the field disappears because he is selfishly absorbing it to heal/protect himself (this makes it seem like Hog is unintentionally protecting his team due to the janky equipment he has leaking all over the place)
- Could go further by rewarding hog with more damage or something depending on how many allies are in his field after absorbing
- If no damage buff is present then you could give the aoe dot damage, as if the gas is toxic to the enemy team. This means hooked targets immediately feel pressured, if not killed outright, and helps hog peel for his team against any cqc heroes
