Reaper, I was one of the few Reaper mains around with 400 h on him, one guy once saw my profile and said ‘‘holy… take a picture there is a Reaper main, you never see one’’
I was so proud because I kept using a hero that kinda none use to pick (beside few exceptions)
Now thanks to people cry he was nerfed into the ground even if he kinda have the same counters as the dear Genji if not more, so had to move to another hero.
Ye I miss mass ress, it was her identity and never had issues with it, I mean she managed to 5 men ress? So I’m the stupid one not that the skill is ‘‘unfair’’
For me Hanzo was entirely about cheeky scatters and I miss that so much. It’s not the floor shots I miss, it’s the wall bounces. It’s all the moments where an enemy thinks they’re safe behind cover and you yolo the shot in for the 10% chance it’ll work, and it does.
I love Doomfist he’s so fun, though Blizzard are intent on running him into the ground and on top of that everyone just has so much hate for the character, you cant be a Doom player these days without being compared to Chipsa, i’ve seen all over the forums people dont understand the character just think he’s cheap and think his players are edgey, its real sad and just puts me off the character, i put tons of time into learning him for people to just think i’m going for an ‘easy pick’ which is far from the case… he’s actually trash atm
Both of Sym’s rework failed. The depressing thing is that the devs are so embarrassed by their two failed attempts at making her fun and viable that they’ve just given up on her. They’re fine with her having the lowest pick rate and almost exclusively being used as a TP bot, but as soon as Genji isn’t in the top three DPS for pickrate he gets multiple enormous buffs. I’ve lost all faith in the devs at this point.
Sombra. I actually really liked the tempo her gameplay used to have and really enjoyed some other quirks like how the team using her hacked health packs gave her Ult charge. The whole “infinite invisibility” somehow threw me off, there’s been a lot of hassling with the translocator and… I dunno, it’s like I engage far less or something because I’m looking for the “best timing” whereas before I had to engage in steady intervals by default.
I’ve been around since October 2017, and I’ll tell you I regret not playing symm more. From October to her rework, I only had 2 hours on her. I know people didnt like that design back then(and maybe I only feel this way because we now have something much worse), but I have over time come to appreciate symm 2.0’s design a lot.
Doomfist before the suicide button Uppercut. Just feels so clunky and like you’re punching yourself in the family jewels whenever you use it. It’s also an invitation for the enemy to all shoot and CC you, so it’s most often a death sentence. Now you punchbot if you want to sometimes win, SlamCut if you don’t want tumors.
The increased charge time on punch didn’t help matters either.
Probably old mercy and old sym.
Mercy’s current state now is still fun and viable but sometimes I miss the feeling of getting a good mass rez and turning the game.
I understand why they took it out and i agree but I still miss it sometimes.
Sym hurts the most, she was viable for a bit but then got instantly nerfed again.
If your only real joy in this game was Doomfist then there’s really no point in playing much or at all anymore. RP charges too slowly now to support the reaction time needed in brawls, uppercut having no air control makes you a sitting duck, stuck in animation while the person you just hit is free to jack you up, likely from the off screen location they just escaped to with a movement ability. The slowest heroes in the game can simply juke or easily walk out from under the center ring of his ult. His many bugs persist, RP-hitbox is still tiny enough to miss a Roadhog filling a doorway, and all his major counters have been buffed in the meantime. To top it all off there’s still idiots in the forums screaming that Doom is an unstoppable murder machine and calling for more nerfs, a rework or removal.
Doom was my boy! Alas the nerf mob has achieved utter and complete victory in destroying him. One can still play him, maybe even win but there’s nearly none of the exciting feel he used to have and most matches will be tedious grind fests. Dooms controls are easily 2 or 3 button presses to one versus most other heroes so in a nerfed state you’re doing 2-3 times the physical work as people playing other DPS heroes only to achieve far lower returns on that investment than them. It’s just not worth it in the face of constant hate from other players and the devs crapping all over his playstyle.
As for the topic of this thread: Sym 2.0 is the best version of Sym. I started as a Sym main also mained Junkrat, Mercy, Sombra and then Doom. Every single one of them was either nerfed into oblivion or reworked into awfulness while I was maining them. Each time I soured more on Overwatch as a whole because of it. Doom was the last straw for me though, since they destroyed him I’ve nearly quit the game. If it weren’t for Deathmatch I’d be gone completely. Anyway I’m rambling, but yeah if you’re a Doom main the community and the devs are against you. Not my idea of fun.
I’m right there with you. I miss Symmetra 2.0 so much, but she wouldn’t survive in the game now. It’s way too fast paced now. I hope we can get an actual Classic version of the game, meaning we can play the game before they added any heroes, before they reworked any of the existing heroes, before they added or changed anything. I wanna go back to those simpler times.
If not Symmetra, then Sombra for sure. They made her easier… Why would they make her easier if they value sKiLl so much?
Pharah has barely changed at all, but together with all the new characters players have gotten so good at shooting Pharah down that at this point in time it’s just plain throwing to go without Mercy, and even then it’s dubious. She’s a relic from the Overwatch of the old.
I really miss the old Hanzo. Our current Spamzo is without a doubt better as he is now, but god damn is he kind of dull now. Instead of using the very unreliable scatter to destroy someone in a hallway or get a cheeky wall or ceiling shot, we now have the “Shoot faster” button. Even with the stupid foot scatter shot (which they could have easily just reduced the dmg of instead of replacing the ability) you had to have a reasonable idea where you need to scoot the scatter arrow. Now I can pop storm arrow and fire into the enemy and there is a good chance I’ll get at least one kill.
He was a one man Apocalypse, now he can’t even hook/kill squishes reliably now.
Hog has gone from somebody you feared to somebody you actively target to build your ults.
Anything past point blank range and he is garbage.
