I used to adore playing Mercy before she got reworked.

The mind games with rez were like a game within a game, and you could min-max with damage boost by buffing attacks right before they landed.

It was so engaging that I didn’t even mind that I was solo healing for most of my matches. I’d pick Mercy and have a blast, knowing that if I gave it my all I could make a real impact on the direction of the match and maybe even snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Heroes never die!

Those were the days :sleepy:

When D.Va wasn’t a throw pick.

When I first started playing I loved Winston.

Lucio. I started playing him in 2018 and his mobility just felt fluid and smooth. Now he just feels clunky.

D.Va

Until DPS streamers and pros complained that she ate their ult.

Ashe.

She didn’t even drastically change, or get nerfed like some of the other heroes I play, she’s just not fun anymore. Her magic’s mostly gone, now she’s just another DPS that you probably won’t see more than McCree.

release widowmaker, quickscoping was actually a thing and that charge time was fast as hell

I miss flanktank Hog.

I used to terrorize people and destroy stragglers. Making space from the sides by thinning out the team.

nowadays that’s just asking to get melted.

I remember this! and it was 150 for a bodyshot and zen had 150 health at the time, if you had an enemy zen you could literally so easily just cancel his existence.

They at least need to put her 2.0 mechanics in workshop, then i can finally play 2.0 again

omg right? I’d be so happy.

Sombra, Mei, Ana, and Orisa. I used to love playing all of these heroes, loved them so much that I kept playing them through the constant nerfs. Up to a point.

The Sombra changes hurt me the most, mostly because they always had to make an example out of her and for no reason at that. It started when Blizzard decided to make sweeping changes to how ultimate charged, carving out an exception for Sombra that still stands to this day. She still remains the only hero that doesn’t get any ultimate charge from healing herself nor her teammates. Even still, I stuck with her. Then, they introduced a cooldown for interrupted hacks. Well, longer cooldown. Hack was already easy to prevent, needing only 0.0000000001 damage in the literal sense to break it. However, Blizzard thought that wasn’t unfair enough, and decided to quadruple the cooldown incurred from having it interrupted by an attack from literally across the map, while still retaining the ease of breaking it. These changes came with no warning or testing, in contrast to the other balance changes they had been making to the game up to that point and afterwards, too. Changes to heroes that were actually problematic with data to back them up. The speed at which those changes came also remain the fastest Blizzard has ever nerfed a hero. Even Bastion’s nerfs took a month when he was considered problematic. Mercy’s took six months. Hanzo changes were also given careful deliberation. Sombra, however? Instant nerf. And Sombra players’ reward for all of these nerfs? A slightly lower bullet spread and hack speed.

Despite all of this, I still stuck with her. Then, they gave her eternal stealth- something they specifically said that didn’t want to do when designing her- and then nerfed her speed boost from it, making certain areas impossible to get to without using her translocator that now gives off fireworks when used and is no longer invincible, being broken by absolutely anything from across the map. If that wasn’t enough, they even made her easier to spot while in stealth. Thankfully, the backlash from that was enough to get that particular change overturned. However, Sombra players were still left with a now slower hero that was now exponentially easier to shut down. Even then, I stuck with her…until Blizzard made some sweeping, non-hero-specific changes that made me quit the game altogether.

From start to finish, she was garbage throughout, but Blizzard still had a bone to pick with her, to the point of breaking every rule they had made just to keep her down. The other heroes I mentioned (plus some that I didn’t, like Bastion, Symmetra, and Junkrat) had similar fates. Not to the same extent, but I was saddened for them all the same since I enjoyed playing those heroes too. It’s a real shame those heroes don’t exist anywhere else since I always find myself missing their playstyles when I play other games.
