What can blizzard do to improve ow2?

I would have no problem testing 2cp in 5vs5, but it would only have to be in a quick play and for a limited time, and only a few maps, the problem is that I think that 5v5 the attacking team will have a lot of advantage. But I would like to see some maps, even though I hate this mode

I think it’s an uncontroversial opinion that RQ games can’t get stricter matchmaking due to the Gordian knot of finding suitable players across all roles in a reasonable time frame.

So my suggestion to improve OW is to work on allowing different modes to be more independent of each other. Let OQ modes have stricter matchmaking because by making the matchmaker blind to role, games can still be put together fairly quickly.

I’d put up with all the annoying crap OQ has simply because getting as many games where one team clowns on the other is so boring, and I imagine it’d fatal to the casual experience. The blogs talk about the competitive experience and what to do about it all the time, but today’s casuals are tomorrow’s competitors; I don’t think they can afford to keep turning a blind eye to the state of QP.

Listen to reasonable ideas. That’s all.

One thing I would like to see is more interaction with the forum. I know this place is crazy, but many users have ideas, questions or comments. I liked seeing in the past when someone would create a random post and out of nowhere one of them would give information or a curious fact about the game. and in the end, this is the official forum, it’s not a third party site, this is from blizzard.

For example something like this could happen again:

Continuing the discussion from Can all 2CP Maps and the Gamemode be Reworked?:

Prices on everything need to be halved if not reduced triple in price. Skins are not real and have no inherent value much to their psychotic marketing people’s beliefs.

Loot boxes need to come back or the amount of currency you get per week needs to A be made easier to obtain and not even rely on abusive weekly challenges or B just be given after every level so that it adds up. Either way, we need more. If we won’t do this, the least that can happen is a loot box after every level that does include new shop skins so people can actually get anything of meaning.

And before anyone comes in here to say “well don’t people play games for the gameplay” yes of course people do but this only applies when the gameplay is actually good. If we’re going to keep goofy 5v5 and dumb RQ restrictions then the rewards need to improve. One side has to give, either remove those 2 things ^ or give people literally anything more for putting up with matches they literally can’t win or do anything about. I know I’d play more if I got anything for my time spent.

I disagree to a certain degree. what you are describing is how to keep you playing but PvE and hero mastery is how you onboard new players to keep your game alive in the long term. The issue is that the game is having trouble now so they also need short term solutions.

there is no rigging to begin with you just have a confirmation bias

this is how the game died like it did in 2021. and also the ranking system is pretty clear on how it works, you just need to request your SR manually from them every time you want to know.

the only paid content is skins and the PvE they have said they are low-key abandoning…

this is super super true. you need to acquire something, have a banner appear on your screen and be given that sweet sweet dopamine.

they have said they will be changing this soon whenever that is

and do what about fliers?

to keep development going the company needs to see a way to make money. loot boxes directly remove their access to money. its a free game you spend money for cosmetics in, nothing crazy or new about that.

when you are a good ball, sombra v ball just means you are now spending your time trying to ruin sombra’s day first before you can do anything else.

they are so easy to get, have you seen how hard it is to get all the champions in league or dota? this isn’t the problem dude you just miss OW1

the rich and spoiled are the whales, they fund the game. everyone else is just a means of keeping the whales in the room. we live in a capitalist society so thats how everything works, sorry to tell you.

you do realize that our skins are much cheaper than the skins in most games right? like a knife skin in Apex is like 500$. And have you seen CS:GO skins? OW skins are dirt cheap

Balance is something we are never going to agree on. But means of getting dopamine we do need in this game. improved rewards systems of some variety, and continuing the content train. plus reworking the heroes that are made for 6v6

Pixelated items have no value, there is no reason to be charging $26 for any skin when they can’t even rework a single hero within 11 months after ruining that hero because people whined and complained(wrongly so I might add). If that money was actually providing better content at a faster rate and quicker and better balance changes I would say by all means charge money for things, but they’ve yet to actually do anything of true meaningfulness to date.

In fact, every piece of content we’ve gotten was just stockpiled, chopped up, and released through this year, they don’t even have any left and yet still somehow, charging $20-26 per skin isn’t going to be enough to provide anything of value or meaning beyond this month. Crazy how that works out. No company needs the amount of money they demand to provide the bare minimum. Bli$$ards bare minimum is literal garbage, by fact alone.

people will pay 26$, so they are worth 26$. sorry but this is the modern economic reality we live in. and if you don’t want them, you don’t have to pay for them to play. its a free game. you can play without any skins for free, the skins are entirely cosmetic i don’t see why you care.

CS:GO charged more for skins while recieving literally zero development for years, and you also had to buy the base game. now its free so they are getting content updates but the point stands. our skin system is one of the best in the industry

When I finish a game of like, minecraft or final fantasy, I can step away thinking ‘ok, I have made progress towards achieving -thing- in game and had fun doing it’ but with OW, its usually, even if I did have some fun, ‘wow Am I annoyed at this game and feel like I accomplished nothing’

At least in Final fantasy, when I have to play the worst dungeon that will destroy all of the new players in my group, I am happy at the end of it because I know that;

  1. I will be compensated by the game for my team being new
  2. No one will be flaming me or my new players, and if they do, (which in my 500 hrs or so of the game has happened all of once) the game will do something about it.

There is not compensation in OW for having to carry new players, or sit through a very long match on a map you don’t like. There is also no compensation for sitting through a match where people are being toxic as hell in chat, nor any guarantee that something will happen about it unless you can convince enough people to report.

In short, actually reward your players for playing (even if they didn’t buy the bp), reward them handsomely for playing with newer players or players of a lower skill tier, and stop fostering such a toxic environment.

Ten players same rank match. No hidden statistics to force people to get carried.

Bring back the system where if you have a leaver you lose considerably less sr. It was highly favored by the community and they removed it anyway. Been 5 years so i have no hope though.

They could just add to it if you were in a group with said player you all lose the normal amount of sr. Remove the ability to leave group mid match.

Add 6v6 back in any way shape or form, but Blizzard is too prideful.

That is way too much effort. They can barely balance the game for 5v5, imagine having to balance both.

Less Push/Flashpoint, more King’s row!
Best map and I hardly get it…

Well, considering the game is still balanced around 6v6, the only thing they’d need to do is balance it around 5v5. Properly this time.

It wouldn’t take much effort if they’d just pay employees and have proper teams.

They were removed because they became illegal in EU

Full transparency of MMR and MMR algorithm. Public MMR of all the players in a match before the match, after the mach and MMR changes due to the match + certainty factor.

All that both for ranked and QP. (It doesn’t have to be real inner workings. If internally MMR is in fact a floating point number for example from the range -2.347 to +3.839 map it to something more comprehensible like a number from 0 to 1000 or from 0 to 5000 or maybe even without upper bound, but it has to be a 1 to 1 mapping)

Information about all stacks in a game and how it adjusts MMR for MM purposes. (We can see individual MMR and adjusted MMR due to stacking if there is any adjustment)

Information about MMR adjustment due to individual performance, if any.

Rank is just the bucket one’s MMR falls into. No more independent parameters that live their own lives.

All that information is available all the time for all past games in a detailed report in the career profile.

New post ranked match screen. After you finish a match you see a screen with the message. “You have completed a ranked game, all the information regarding your progress is available in a detailed report in your career profile”.

Below a big button that says “Watch the cheesy rank update animation now” and does what it says - displays the cheesy rank update animation.

And below a warning for American people: “Warining for American people: watching the cheesy rank update animation can alter your mood, tilt you or cause ranked anxiety. Viewer discretion advised”

And back button at the bottom.

On fire system from OW1.

Scoreboard replaced or appended with small charts displaying On fire points over time for all players and highlighting periods with the points above On fire status threshold. Plus a numerical “time on fire” stat.

Those charts for all QP games and Ranked at least below diamond.

Hiding information in profiles (private profiles) work only during a match. All the stats for all the participants of a finished game are available in the report.

also true. but thats why they don’t sell them, not why you can’t get them for free

They can look to this amazing game called Overwatch 1 for inspiration.

Rollback to Overwatch 1.

That would improve things immensely.
