I believe dropping that mindset would probably help your tank quite a bit intrinsically. But what do I know?!

Firstly, I didn’t say every game is tank diff and I can’t do anything to help.
Secondly, tanks have a very special role that the other two just cannot do very well. Tanks can create space. Everyone else on their team is supposed to enable that, right ?
Tanks are supposed to walk up and use the threat of their high close range damage (hog, dva) and their oneshots (hog, rein etc) to create space. As much as I keep a tank at 80%+ HP, my healing cannot actually make them walk in and take space…… speed boost does nothing if my tank just A-D strafes in place…. The antinade I landed on the enemy tank doesn’t matter without follow up… I can’t take space myself because I’ll just get oneshot by spam damage immediately as a support. In some situations it’s literally just bad tank gameplay and that’s what I mean.
There ARE some dps that can create a huge amount of space like widowmaker but I can’t count on having a good one on my team.
(Again, I will repeat, this does not happen in ALL games but it is very frustrating when it does happen)
Do you have problems with melee on that controller. Hitting melee at the wrong time, while aiming, for example?
Or do you use a mouse for melee? In which case, you don’t have this issue.
I never said that you did say that? I am saying that adjusting your mindset would probably result in more wins. Pretending games come down to one person is pretty dumb, quite frankly. It’s not even remotely true.
I believe that enabling a tank that refuses to tank is more the issue here. You can always adjust your playstyle accordingly if the tank is genuinely worthless.
Or take space on a hero such as Lucio.
I more or less understand what you are saying. You want tank to be less impactful, I get it. But I believe there is plenty you can do to help your team even if your tank is worse.
Big ones are:
- Solo tanking stinks. 6v6 > 5v5.
- Rebalance Sigma. Barely being changed going from OW1 to OW2 and still being this strong is nuts. He ruined OW1, if we’re going to be stuck solo tanking then do something else with ihm
- No more “safe side of strong” - you release them overpowered and it’s frustrating (i.e., Hazard).
- Ana’s Anti-nade shouldn’t be 100% healing reduction, it should behave differently than Junker Queen’s ultimate.
- No more Widowmaker. They reworked several maps to dial her back and it didn’t work. They need to rework Widowmaker if we’re not going to have hero bans.
- Roadhog, Orisa, and Doomfist feel horrible to play against, tanks that are revolved around CC should be left in the gutter.
Hyper specific interaction that i vehemently hate.
When genji deflects junkrat mines, it removes the mine from junks control. So right clicking does not blow it up right away… but the mine does still blow up, just when it’s far enough away from genji and in your face.
This shouldn’t happen. Junk should maintain the ability to blow it up with right click exactly when its pressed, just that genji doesnt get damaged from it. It bugs the heck out of me. I spam right click, it seems to favour the genji in the ‘favour the shooter’ mechanic because often it deflects after i right click…, and it doesn’t blow up, it waits a full second to travel back to me to blow me up…
It feels so clunky and bad. Especially when i right click before it deflects, but gets deflected anyway without blowing up.
Nope. I have “B” mapped and it works perfectly. Never gets in the way.
I think I need to map melee somewhere else. R3 doesn’t work for me.

If you had a programmable mouse with lots of buttons, thatd probably be ideal.
I have an XBOX series X controller. No worries. I’ve had to map buttons in OW before. I can do it again.

Technically a gameplay complaint, but it does tie into a systemic change I want, and that’s to balance deathmatch. Hot take, yeah, but I think putting effort into making the mode more balanced would be good. People were saying 8 years ago when the developer update for deathmatch released that it’s good cause it would soak up all the players that dive in solo against the enemy team and generally only play to frag and not be a team player. Deathmatch balance was jank back then in OW1 too, yeah, but it was ok enough. You could find games easily. It even got another map (Petra) before the content drought era where they were just giving anything that could count as content (Kanezaka and Malevento).
Then OW2 came with the tank changes and now people barely play it. The thing is that it can still serve that purpose of attracting people that just want to kill stuff, including tank players like the Rein on your team in QP that charges into the 5 enemy players, unaware that everyone else is dead, but the balance has to be changed so that they don’t kill everyone else’s fun. Deathmatch and the open queue arcade modes being the way they are right now contributes to people feeling like the game is stale IMO, cause they only really have QP and Comp to play if they don’t want to get run over by an army of tanks.
I don’t play DM anymore, but I’ve never liked the presence of tanks in a mode where so many pick DPS.
Tanks should have their own mode. Could even be a kind of training mode for tank 1v1s. Synergy between tanks, working together, is more applicable in 6v6.
A mode that prepares new tank players for the other team based modes of the game. The same could be done for DPS and support. The tutorial is no help in this regard.
Speaking of which, what would it take for Bliz to revamp that tutorial because it is inadequate, frankly.
I don’t think Mercy needs a better glock, but I still hate how slow the projectile is. Unless I hit basically all headshots, I rarely win a 1v1 unless my opponent went in with low HP.
Mei being nerfed into obscurity while genji’s deflect continues have: infinite health, reflect everything under the sun that isn’t a beam weapon, blocks melee, he retains full mobility, cancel at anytime and 8 sec CD.
