What are new support abilities not tried yet?

ability that instantly returns all dead players to spawn room and grants them speed boost

Vampiric Sacrifice.

Support character has equal amounts of health and over health.

Character heals other character by giving their health to their target.

Vampiric Embrace.

Support puts a debuff health drain on an enemy character/npc (Bob and the like), that fills the supports health pool. Once the pool is filled it stops draining, but the curse stays on the target until they break line of site, the curse is cleansed, or the support dies or is stunned.

Aura ability that reduces incoming damage by 50% for anyone inside. Deployable that indefinitely provides HP (tank/healer ability TBH).

Slows.
That’s the big one for me. We have 3 (now 2) dps that can slow, 1 tank that can slow (+2 via ult), and zero supports.

Could also have a support that offers invisibility, like the original concept for Sombra, or teleportation like original Symmetra.

We could have a builder support, who pretty-much fortnite builds walls, stairs, and healing structures out of hard-light to manipulate the map.

I’d also like to see a support with hitscan tracking healing. We got flick (Ana), projectile (Ana, Bap), aoe (Moira, Lúcio, Bap, Brig) and auto-lock (Kiriko, Zen, Brig). I’d like to see a support whose healing demands more precise tracking.

Melee Monk Support.

Resonance Staff.

The support has aoe healing or attack speed boost, which starts off small, and increases in amount as they strike more enemy characters with their staff.

Already exists.

Already exists in the form of barriers.

This would be unique.

Unfortunately, the game doesn’t have elemental damage. Just beams.

Deflect acts like this.

Would be neat.

Granting lifesteal to allies, either through a channeled ability, a deployable, or a cooldown buff.

Giving allies a short period of time after they die where they can revive themselves if they get an elimination.

Any kind of weapon that heals through sustained fire tracking. Think Ana but if she healed using Sombra gun or Symmetra’s beam.

  • Support that can ‘attach’ itself to allies. Like leaving its frail body behind and placing its ghost on them to buff/help the team.
  • Able to knock enemies upwards and lower their gravity so they slowly float back down (Mercy idea)
  • Hacker that can hack and upload healthpacks to their allies globally (not their main source of healing, just a side thing like Sombra’s healthpack hacks)
  • Support that can reveal a mini-map for allies/themselves and drop constructs from top-down view (probably same hacker)
  • Support that creates hardlight clones of themselves for Ying-like healing
  • Either some construct that cloaks allies or a support that can go invisible themselves (Ana idea)

Yeah, definitely this in some form!

Oh man, reminds me of that Lifeline ability in Apex. Love her tether drone.

I imagined, when everyone was crying about Bap’s team invincibility, that we could change it to only effect one ally. But the lamp would hover behind and tether that ally and follow them as they move for a while - so trading team support for a more nimble and effective solo invincibility.

Feels like shooting a moving lamp kiting on the back of a diving hero could be scarier than an immobile lamp protecting a whole team :thinking:

I like this concept too – like some form of retribution. Ramattra brought nanites to the table - feels like it could be a great vehicle for something like that (some future support on his team)

I think it could work as a nice taunt for a tank too. Like if shooting Hog while he is ‘glowing’ too much could trigger some noxious explosion (imagine green fire aoe each time it goes off, just eating up floor space). Would be a great threat for that tank to just walk near the enemies like a ticking bomb, making them afraid to shoot him at the wrong time.

We already have the perfect throw (Bap’s lamp toss) and an abundance of circular aoe based abilities.

When Lucio was getting his reworks back in the day, my greatest dream was for him to get the ‘Heroes of the Storm Lucio’ ability where he tosses his boombox-backpack to mimic his heal/speed song. Felt like the perfect way for him to not hug his team all fight but still toss the song to them and probably boost two different lanes (and imagine if it functioned as an additional los for Beat ult?)

Lucio didn’t really need the buff but another hero with that flow could be cool!

It used to be Reaper’s passive! I want to see them return somehow.

My favorite rework idea for him has those soul orbs resetting his wraithform

For PVE, it does make a ton of sense for Moira. I feel like tickling a ton of bots wouldn’t feel great so I picture us getting some passive/talent trees where she can ramp up her damage (like Sym) or turn enemies into health for allies

a support with a rapid firing hitscan weapon for healing.
a support that gives helmets to people. (imagine the shop options for different kinds of hats)
ie. the helmet would prevent/reduce crit damage on the target for next X shots, or something.

I want a highly mobile support with high cc a bit like Rakan in League. Knocking up enemies, dashing to allies to shield them, CCing with his ult by running into enemies and somewhere in there the ability to heal.

Basically 0 damage, maybe little healing but high survivability and high cc since we are really lacking in that.

I mean it could make attacks setting on fire or a slow effect.

Hopefully they make a more healthy version of mercy with a fire rate boost instead.

There’s nothing that shows all status of a target. There’s nothing that slows an enemies rate of fire. There’s nothing that allows weapons that can’t headshot, headshot. There’s nothing that affects beam weapons fire rate. There’s nothing that allows a ultimate to be cancelled and returned. There’s nothing that can absorb an ultimate with high explosive damage. And use that to over charge their abilities, or ultimate.

There’s no ability that reverses an enemy ability. Example: When Hog uses hook. He gets pulled to the target. Graviton Surge pushes people away. There’s no ability that causes enemy weapons to malfunction and do self damage. There’s no ability that copies spy from TF2. Infiltrating the enemy. There’s no ability that affects spawn door healing. There’s no ability that makes a target blind.

There’s no ability that allows you to mix and match abilities or ultimate’s. There’s no ability/ultimate that forces enemy abilities/ultimate to be used. There’s no ability that disables the HUD. There’s no ability that can override the doors or obstacle changes done when Payloads go through check points.

a recall like tracers but you could use it on every player, you could make someone go back 3 seconds in time, saving them, punishing an enemy using ult, trolling your teammates too. (you can use mei wall to save enemies or f- your team already, but people dont abuse that)

Providing headshot resistance/immunity to teammates, although that could easily be a tank ability instead.

Yeah I remember that because I used to be a Reaper main back then. Even got waste not want not as one of my earliest achievements.

I just like the idea of a hero giving a team passive if they’re picked. But I can see this working better in pve.

As for Moira’s primary fire I like the idea of it ramping up or spreading over to other enemies so you can chain drain essentially.

I’d like the inverse and it’s a big head mode, but headshots deal less than melee damage temporarily :joy:

We have that with dynamite and Mei’s kit, plus Ramattra and Symmetra and Doomfist with Meteor Strike.


There’s some good ideas. Party-wide knockback protection is only really available on barriers, and individual knockback on passives and Fortify.

Slows are kinda hard to implement because most heroes have ways of suppressing them with abilities.

I’m not sure they’ll do this, without giving them an easy edge like Ana has.

This is like my idea based on the FF14 sage, where you could assign the Nouliths to specific heroes and they’d heal. Kinda like a harmony orb, but one that could be targeted and destroyed or only lasts a limited duration.

Like a reverse Vortex?

When can nearly double the damage from these weapons, there doesn’t need to be.

Sound Barrier, barriers in general, Immortality Field.

Launch Reaper collected dead souls to recover health. This feature was abandoned.

Mercy’s healing beam is straight up better that damage reduction. All healing is.

Guaranteed the next two supports will have it in some form. Well one of them at least.

Thought about this one for a bit, and I can think of something like, you place a reactive-barrier or buff on the targeted ally and the barrier, when attack, would deflect some kind of debuff that would slow their fire rate, or have them consume more ammo per attack.

  2. doube/triple team member mirror
  3. quad damage teammate
  4. disable opponent ability to shoot weapon
  5. grant lifesteal
  6. healing turrets

etc etc

Healing is ALWAYS better than damage reduction? You don’t think it’d be helpful to give squishies the ability to not be 1-shotted? You can’t heal a dead teammate

  • Damage resistance ultimate (Rally kind of did this, but not to the extent of a dedicated damage reduction)

  • Orb of Harmony that does much less base healing (10 or less) but spikes in healing output based on how much damage you deal

  • Zarya-like bubble on an ally with a damage cap that converts absorbed damage into healing

  • Dispenser like from TF2, that is a buildable heal aura, can mess around and provide other buffs as well

  • Granting an ally temporary CC immunity without also giving immunity to damage (to differentiate from Suzu)

  • A variation of Deflect that converts enemy projectiles into healing orbs (and can delete projectile ultimates like Defense Matrix)

  • A teleport ability that leaves behind an explosive that damages enemies and heals allies

  • A SLOW (we lost Brig stun, so at the very least, we should have more soft CC in the support roster)

I’m sure there are more but that’s what I thought of.
