Yes to Reaper, add Bastion to that list, no to a lack of alternatives.
Each tank specialises in their own area, sadly this meta is bunker most of the time, which is the most unfun form of the meta currently. If Rein got nerfed, we’d just see more Bunker or Dive until a Brig buff comes out, then Rein’s magically good again.

People have been asking for that new visual since it went on a meter.
In fact they asked for that more than a cooldown.
99% sure I could get several meta reports of her in B if not C-Tier during the gap between triple tank and dive and early dive if I browsed Overbuff’s archives far back enough.
In what I’m sure is complete coincidence, this was right when every D.Va complainer was frantically insisting that pickrates didn’t matter at all because she was totally enabling all those other dive heroes with higher pickrates.
There are three off tanks. You always need one. So one of them will always be a meta choice and have a high pickrate.
Zarya specializes in deathball. Hog specializes in bunker. D.va is the Jack-of-all-trades master of none.
If either of those comps needs to handle a sniper, they swap Zarya or Hog off to D.va. And other specific things that they don’t counter becuase of their own kits being so specialized.
So it would be weird if D.va didn’t have a high pickrate.
If you start looking at stuff like her league winrate, you start to get a different picture of D.va.

For the longest time DM was merely “annoying” and “oppressive”. Nothing to do with pick rates.
That’s literally how we got to the micro missiles iteration.
Pick rates also don’t matter when you’re asking for Sombra nerfs. Nor indeed do her win rates.
D.va is a jack of all trades like Solder but with an ability comparable to Bio-nade in potency.
That is nothing like Reinhardt, who simply is the less niche of the two ground main tanks.
so what your saying is… d.va takes a nerf, gets put into b-c tier, because of the doomsayers… and then goes right back into s and a tier once people realize the nerf didn’t put her into f-tier.

Rein doesnt need any nerfs. Neither didnt dva imo.
If they keep buffing heroes (dps) it will make shield tanks/tanks even more unplayable cause it doesnt take long till your shield is gone…
The aforementioned “early dive” is about half a year in length. She only became truly central to Dive either when they added of Micro Missiles or shortly before that.
actually it’s funny you say that, i was having a conversation about a similar topic around that time period and was kindly provided with a bunch of meta reports from the early days of dive.
(my conversation was about how early dive and triple tank co-existed, just for records sake)
I’m sure you would like to see D.va’s pick rate was still more than respectable.
