If it was that easy, high elo wouldn’t be 90% go mauga or lose…
If it was that easy, that’s what people would be doing.
Evidently, beating mauga isn’t as easy as “lol just kill supports” especially when with how busted supports are now, that’s an entire mission on its own.
perceived meta is a thing, and considering the hero is only just release and already been rebalanced twice over. People will default with what is simplest.
It’s like why back in 6v6 people would default to rein zarya when we didn’t know what the meta was. It wasn’t the best option, just what the simplest to use.
But for the most part pumping damage solely into Mauga where his supports can refill his his Hp pull 2 ~ 4 times a fight. Isn’t best solution.
keeping tools like nade, suzu, lamp, regen burst, and more as something the supports have to use to save themselves will allow your team to win the mauga duel a lot more cleanly. Then if everyone just shoots the biggest thing in the map.
Like keep in mind GM players tend to get fixated on hyper specific interactions. And have habbit of not seeing the bigger picture outside of their little circle.
Its why you don’t see new meta’s forming In GM and instead elsewere like in OWL or whatever is just thought to be the strongest option at the time.
I don’t agree. Especially because support don’t need to use those abilities to save themselves. Hell, kiri has the most important cooldown there is to save mauga with suzu and she DEFINITELY doesn’t need it for herself when she also has a 35 meter teleportation ability that can go through an infinite amount of walls, with no way to stop it.
Also if you go for supports guess what the mauga will do… turn around, charge you, and melt you.
There is no interaction in the tank role with mauga. Your best bet outside of mauga himself, is going sigma (which woohoo the best solution for this season’s meta hero, is LAST season’s meta hero, so fun!)
You would think dive would be good to ya know… fulfill your idea of going into the backline and getting the supports fire but it isn’t. No one is playing dive. Ball gets shredded, doom gets shredded, monkey gets shredded, dva can extend her life for 3 seconds with defense matrix… and then she gets shredded.
In high elo???
Not really. I mean people would obviously run rein zarya at times simply because it was easy or because the map called for it, like kings row. But for the most part??? The meta was absolutely defined, especially during role lock.
In high elo, once a major meta got nerfed people would jump back to old reliable in mass. As it’s something almost every one knew how to play.
it’s also funny enough the periods of time people said OW was the most “balanced”. Because their was nothing breaking the 6v6 format like it normally does in those meta.
So fun fact about kiri people fail to realize.
Is that she can only TP to other players on her team.
If all of them are like right next tot he mauga shooting the other mauga.
Then she has nowhere to run.
Which even in high elo isn’t that uncommon. Most of them usually just TP to the traget that ends up in their cross hair first when they flick their camera.
As they hold the button and wait for the an appropriate target to TP to.
It’s not as remotely strong or as consitent as people think it is.
at best she will end up next to her ana, at worst she going to end up were all the shooting at mauga is happening.
Ana, also doesn’t have mobility. And will have to use nade to save her self if she doesn’t immediately know where the damage is coming from.
on another note, tools that limit mobility can stop her from using TP. Some like mauga’s ult keeps from using such and cleansing the effect away.
While something like cassidy’s mag grenade will have to force suzu in nearly every instance, as she can’t TP out of it.
Sombra was considered one of the hardest heroes in the game before the rework. What the rework did was give her a harder to use escape option, and a way to actually deal damage in fights that you also have to aim. All of a sudden many people consider her braindead and OP despite her having a negative winrate essentially everywhere. Either she’s bad and easy or OP and difficult. My theory as to this sudden shift is because now she poses an actual obvious threat to teams without communication skills or the skills to work together, rather than picking apart from the shadows like she used to. She isn’t easy, but what she is good at happens to be what lower ranked players show weakness with. So her naturally targeting this makes people think she’s easy to play.
No… she wasn’t. Sombra has never been considered a difficult hero. The only “difficult” problem about sombra was that in ow1 she needed team play to get value for the most part. In ow2 that was all but removed with the introduction of invis hacking and a damage boost to hacked targets. She became a lone assassin without needing the same amount of coordination as she did before.
When you have to make a hero work outside of their optimal scenario since said optimal scenario is out of your hands, the hero is hard to get value out of. You are basically working with a gimped hero and have to even predict what your team will do to get value.
Unlike heroes who are just hard for mechanical reasons, no matter how good you are, you wont get the same value. Thus, you have to work harder to meet the same needs.
Same reason why Symmetra currently sucks for 99% of the playerbase despite losers claiming she is good because they saw the Flaming Dodos using her for team TP slave memes that are barely affected by her shoddy ladder performance as a DPS hero.
Pretty much, although he does need some skill to time his E properly and to play around the ever-present Ana. His bigger issue is that he is just boring to play against, just like Orisa, but also boring to play with as support, even more so than Orisa. Nobody wants a Mauga in the game on either team. And it’s not because he is stupid OP just now.
Let’s see your hook accuracy? Even GM have less than 70% and often less than 60%. He is currently OP in his survivability but he still takes skill, and a lot of it at GM just to stay alive. He is also the most counterable tank in the game just now.
So aim is no longer a skill? S76 is easy to play but hard to get value from.
Not going to argue about sombra. She is a toxic hero that doesn’t belong in the game - at least, invisibility doesn’t belong.
Sojourn is not easy to play. She is way OP just now and melts tanks which is where she gets a lot of value, but she requires aim and good aim to get the most out of her rail.
What a strange list. You miss heroes like Orisa, Moira, Bastion and Junk who are the definition of braindead. I guess they are not meta for you, but they are played a lot where I am, especially orisa and bastion together. I would even put Ana in the “too much value for the skill” bucket because nade is such a fight-winner for zero skill input.
I mean it’s been like this pretty much since ow2 began
season 1 was zarya just holding m1 and spamming self-bubble
season 2 was when hog was super busted iirc?
season 3 was actually pretty fine but i may be wrong
then there was the period where orisa dominated pretty much every lobby at every rank
and thats just tank
Kiriko, Ana, etc etc are all incredibly easy to play and have seen pretty consistent meta play
but tbf there have been periods where high skill heroes have been meta, the issue is the game just simply isn’t fun
the same devs that have left mauga completely dominate for over a month?
the same devs that left zarya running lobbies in season 1
the same devs that, designed kiriko
There’s no way you just cited blizzard’s star difficulty scale as a source for a hero being difficult or not…
Hog isn’t hard to play.
Soldier isn’t hard to get value from. Aim is quite literally the most basic mechanical skill in the game. He doesn’t have to hit single shot, nor does he require pure headshots to get value. The hero is easy.
Yes!! Our very good devs who are definitely good at their jobs and definitely know what they’re talking about! Hence why the leaderboards were just a WAVE of orisa.
Please, let’s not cite our delusional dev team as a source of information.
the second mauga gets nerfed the meta will honestly be even worse imo, hog was approaching similar winrates after his rework to what mauga is getting now, the only difference is that the aim and mechanical requirement on hog is higher. Ranked will likely be a nightmare with huge ‘tank diff’ games between hogs post mauga nerfs.
In his current state, hog can basically 1v5 on point, if you dont have an ana or if they have kiri.
