Lots of heroes have lot lower winrates than genji’s 49% winrates overall and 49% is the average winrate accross all ranks, calm down.
Genji is once again, middle of the pack and not overbearingly strong.
But we’ll be certain to see genji become very much meta once again once sigma and brig get killed and we’re transition fully into zarya/rein or zarya/winston meta and nanoblade/gravblade glory show.

It’s always curious when someone only uses winrate as a talking point. It should either be pickrate or pickrate +winrate.
Winrate alone is the least reliable statistic to use and if balance is supposed to be top down then why do we care about his overall winrate?
If his GM winrate +pickrate is good then the rest doesn’t matter especially for a “high skill” hero.
I put high skills in parentheses because too many people want the rewards from selecting high skill characters but don’t want to put in the work to receive it.
I’ve long said that Ashe would get the focus after genji.
And I really hope she does sooner rather than later.
I’ve grown to dislike Ashe personally after the number of buffs she’s gotten- and find her kit as a whole genuinely “flawed” from a design perspective in its current state.

He had 4 buffs, and got 2 nerfs, which still results in 2 netbuffs.
Genji was overtuned and needed those nerfs badly. A single dash, rightclick melee through the enemy team got him easily 25-30% Ult charge.
Tuning some of the other heroes down will hopefully give Genji some chance to compete in an upcoming, possible dive meta in OWL / Top500 for the DPS spots.
This said, we should probably talk about nerfing some hitscans down so they arent dominating as they do right now…
Its actually 53.77% right now in GM this week.
His winrate is still higher than (or tied with):
- mccree, sombra, soldier, mei, bastion, and tracer
PS- some niche picks have high winrates despite being ‘bad’ (junkrat/pharah/reaper/etc so dont compare his winrate to theirs) and low winrate doesnt mean ‘bad’ (for example… mccree).
Considering his pickrate (5th most picked DPS in GM out of 17 heroes) and his winrate (a very standard 53.77%), this is a VERY healthy state for him to be in.
Outside GM its not much different. His winrate this week across all ranks is at 49% (while still being 2nd most picked DPS).
Also his winrate across all ranks is still higher than:
- mccree, tracer, soldier, reaper, echo, sombra, hanzo, mei (and again you cant truly consider rare/niche picks when comparing winrate + mccree is still worse off and not a ‘bad’ pick).
Hes fine. If his pickrate drops lower, then maybe they can bring him back up a bit… But as it stands now, why touch a perfectly good hero? Hes doing GREAT. Ashe just needs to be dialed back a bit because she gets too much value.

So basically his days of low skill floor are gone?
That’s are great news
Idk, there are still heroes in worse state for much longer time. Why should be Genji always on top?
It was a weird choice of nerf. He got symmd or baptd . Buffed and then nerfed to worse than before ,

48 is much better than 55
The closer to 50 the better, regardless of which side of 50 it’s on

He’s 53,77% in GM right now. 51+% in high ranks, and below 50% like almost every other hero in low ranks.
So what?
I agree but I also think it was worse for him to be buffed at all when he was originally fine, If they were going to nerf him this way
I’m not going to debate the necessity of nerfs and buffs in genji with you as he is one of my lower played hero’s so I don’t notice the effects in him as much.
But I can say playing against him in his current state feels balanced to me
We Ignoring the constant weeb whining!!!
This is what happens when you weeb lot act like a bunch of golums when he got overbuffed.
No genji worth his salt needed deflect cancel or deflect time buff, same with fan spread good genji’s skill is getting to the face of enemy to fan combo.
If you had owned up to that and not let gold plat wannabe weebs act my precious about these useless buffs that only made skill floor lower.
Then he wouldn’t have lost firerate and dmg, which were the buffs that made him good midgame and not clunky.
Plus he isn’t bad now a lot of wr is now due to bad genji’s who picked him when he was overbuffed and not able to spamji anymore, most good genji mains are still doing well.
Anyway enjoy the karma weeblums.

They’re falling cause Genji OT are falling down to their proper ranks. All those who abused Genjj when OP are dropping down.
This is good

I think this just shows how hard buffing stuff is not the right way to balance the game, picking the best heroes as reference isn’t working. They should focus more on the heroes who have around 50% wr (±2%) and decent pick rates, balancing the game according to their power level while they’re left untouched. For example the current genji could be used very well for this, if he’s too good against his counters give his counters some buffs, but if he underperforms compared to stuff he should be able to counter (snipers, more static squishies) those stuff should be nerfed. If they have multiple points of reference they could balance the game without making most of the roster useless (like lucio and zen, who were perfectly playable at the early stages of the game and are now unplayable because of the amount of burst dmg in the mid fight).
Winrate doesn’t matter. During Moth Meta Mercy had only 50% winrate while being OP. She just was on both- losing and winning team
So if a character is overpowered to the point people are boosting there SR with him and it’s nerfed then people that play him should lose more games than win if the balance correction is right.
If in like a month it’s still 48% sure then sure the nerf was too hard.
No saying the nerf was right or wrong but the win rate is evidence of it being correct not incorrect.

Half the comments are just “Yeah but this character is worse/better let’s buff/nerf them.” IMO buffs are uneeded, I want changes please for the love of god just nerf his ult and bring up his base dps. I feel like one of the only people who’ve noticed that the Genji meta went from “focus the enemy supports” to “spam right click at their tank to build blade.” High skill floor my a**.

his winrate got lower because all the people who were used to him being OP didnt change their mindset and play him in a careless stupid manner , instead of using their brain he is still better than he was before and he was okayish before
