People don’t realize this is far better than how they could implement the idea. It’s much more equitable this way then just our right paying and it encourages gameplay.

No, it’s dumber than that. They will be just like gold weapons when the next variant comes along.
I’m not sure how you read that and understood it to be “permanent FOMO”, when they created a whole “legacy” currency to get older skins, in this case, the gold skins.
I don’t like it, considering I have to wait for the comp year to end to get new gold skins, whenever that is, but there is nothing permanent at all here.
I hate to burst your bubble, but when you lock a cosmetic behind a currency you can ONLY get by playing competitive, people are going to play it for that reason. I’m a GM player and I don’t have anything to prove. Getting rewarded with a currency I can use to buy golden weapons is something I like because I enjoy the golden weapons. I could be T500 and I’d still feel this way.
If you had a solution for making it not the only incentive for some people to play, then I’m all ears. If not, then really rethink the idea of having something be unobtainable unless you play ranked exclusively.

I like to think they’ll be pushed into legacy system once their time is done. It’d make more sense for Blizzard to sell them for coins considering they aren’t indicative of a player’s skill level.
Month later this month I’ll give it a week tops
Meanwhile, actual weapon model changes which look 10x better are available in the shop for 15$

I had enough points for 2 weapons but spent 3000 on one cause I thought they were going to expire next season. Will we be able to use our current points on jade weapons? I shouldn’t have bought a golden bow for Hanzo when I could have spent them on my mains 
That’s why golden weapons shouldn’t be in comp in the first place, casuals will play it just for weapons

Tbh I forgot the hard light weapons existed so this won’t make much difference to me.
My read on this is that the legacy points will be usable for rewards(gun skins) of past years of Overwatch and the new currency will be only for the brand new year.
So in 2025, legacy points will be usable for gold and jade weapons but not the new 2025 skin (Let’s say it’s diamond). Then in 2026, diamond gets added to the legacy rewards and so forth.
Your new points will turn in to legacy points but you will still be able to get the jade weapons once 2025 takes place.
I agree so hard. I used to work as a digital producer for a news station. Everyone would gripe about how news was always so negative and sensationalized. Do you know why that was? Because, view-for-view, articles which were negative and sensationalized DESTROYED everything else.
My station worked hard to put out positive, uplifiting pieces. 90% of the time, no one read them and they were a waste of the station’s money.
Consumers need to start voting with their time and their wallet, because companies exist to make money, and our time is now one of the most valuable things we can give them to that end.

They actually confirmed the jade skin is 2024 exclusive.
Jade Weapon Variants, available only during the 2024 Competitive Year beginning with Season 9.

Yeah I don’t think many will miss jade weapons when they go away lol. The problem with jade weapons is they do not go well with that many skins.
Hopefully they go for something good in 2025 like diamond weapons.
Holographic weapon skins could be cool as well.
Both of these suggestions are far superior comparing to the ‘‘jade’’.
They can keep their Jade weapons.
They don’t even get the color right since jade is not just green
