Comp and OWL have nothing to do with each other. OW was built from the ground to be a competitive FPS game so comp is a key component to that.
Not a single word about story missions…
The way we got baited with zen in front of the india pve map as the background for the schedule
Vile
I am waiting for people to rage over Bronze players being allowed to stack with Diamonds.
I actually welcome the new changes to the battlepass. Would love to trade that Hanzo mythic for the JQ one.
Tl;dr,
Starting next year, there will be no specific mythic skin on the battlepass. Once you reach level 80, you can choose which mythic skin to unlock from a selection of all the mythic skins they have added until then. I’m guessing they’ll be adding new ones each season to the selection but now each battlepass won’t be locked to just one specific skin.
okay, I finished watching the what’s next panel and updated the thread
The majority of the changes made to OW2 planned for 2014 are in the right direction, many were requested for months by the players, nevertheless this will not allow OW2 to become a GOTY again like OW 2016, simply slow down its unstoppable fall.
Ah so they took the strategy out of the mode. No surprise there. This mode would be a blast in 6v6 but yeah would have never worked in the ‘streamlined’ 5v5 with more points being active. So basically just push with points instead of the slow robot.
Those people will only play against people doing a similar grouping type, so it won’t really matter.
Solo play and ordinary stacks will still be playing in relatively balanced matches.
Aside from the alternative win condition, the new mode is sounding identical to the 5CP mode in Team Fortress 2, so no need to act like it’s a crime.
5CP, while not the casual favorite mode, is the most competitive mode in that game and the one community tournaments tend to emphasize. It should hopefully be a good addition to a game like Overwatch.
5CP still better than flashpoint.
Well, everything still better than flashpoint, even hated 2CP.
flashpoint was created so that the highest ranking players stop being bored in the game, by bringing a large part of randomness and unpredictability, which the other players do not want to suffer, because they are still in the learning phase of a game that has a huge learning curve.
flashpoint is good for 2% of players and terrible for the remaining 98%.
personally if I want randomness and unpredictability I go play Mystery Heroes
Exactly. Although, that is how stacks work now. So all they are doing is opening up the range (which is a very good move personally).
I quite enjoy that flashpoint forces a change of style. Every game players are so passive in gold to diamond lobbies. Flashpoint requires speed and aggression. The maps suck, but being able to play fast and agressive is so much more fun.
In my post I am actively comparing it to the TF2 mode where more than one point is active at a time. It was my favorite mode when I played the game.
Having to strategize whether to push or defend is the main enjoyment in the mode but is impossible in 5v5 because the supports have to stay with the 1 tank. That is what I mean when I say it would’ve been a blast in 6v6.
I did not act like it was a crime, just disappointing OW will not allow for strategy in their game modes. There will always be a singular objective because of 5v5 RQ being the main mode. However I think it will be better than push (and way better than fp).
It’s totally different (sort of) as only 1 point will be open at a time. (They said they tried more, but it just didn’t work)
Ok, this looks pretty good
Based off what we’re able to see
It doesn’t really work if only one point is active at a time, does it? That sounds confusing.
If only one point is active then it’s just flashpoint but you know which capture point is gonna open next
it can go back and forth. So Imagine more like 2CP, but both are attacking. You cap, you move on to the next one. If the enemy caps that, you go back to the first.
Points build up the more points you have and bla bla bla VICTORY>
