Unpopular opinion: I think Valk is strong

Bodyblocking is suicide though. The issue with Mercy is that there’s no skill divide outside of positioning and game sense (which all heroes require), there’s no “I’m better at Mercy so my team will survive”, you can only heal 60 hp/s in Valk and that’s it. You suggesting body blocking for teammates during Valk sounds nuts, unless there’s a Mei freezing your teammate I don’t see any reason to commit suicide and feed like this.

As somebody who has also played a lot of Mercy, I respectfully disagree with this assessment.

I hope you know what I mean by body blocking right? She has infinite uninterrupted regen. You can body block damage and then get out of there while healing your team via chain beams, just because you blocking fo an ally doesn’t mean you have to stop healing. I’d like to think you know when you’ve taken enough damage to withdraw from any fight.

And honestly it doesn’t seem like your open to exploring valkyries possibilities so I’m not sure if I should even bother trying to explain to someone who seems set on Valkyrie is bad.

You’re finding problems not solutions for no reason…

P.s plenty of times I have proven I’m the better mercy via charging my ultimate faster, surviving longer, keeping teammates alive longer via body blocking (which I learned from animetic.). I make Valkyrie my own tool and do things people don’t expect from a Mercy or Valkyrie.

You just have to put the effort into mercy and Valkyrie to show how good you are, I have done this, I have hundreds of players who’ve added me because they think I’m a god mercy. I was even asked to join a console tournament team as their new main support player.

I prove myself as a mercy player, you are not trying to play her. I feel the problem with current mercy is rooted deeper but I’m not going to assume why you don’t like Valkyrie and/or aren’t willing to use it more effectively.

P.p.s I made it to gm with current mercy. I couldn’t prove myself to me more than ever.

I disagree, Spectate the Ult is not very fun, Im fineon the revert or the rework train, idc just as long as I dont have to play skybox watcher anymore.

So? I have over 450 hours on Mercy, and I believe this ‘buff’ is useless. Not only doesn’t it return her to her pre-support-nerf state (which was fine, even when you ignore the buffs to the other supports), but it doesn’t address the various game design flaws Mercy’s current kit has. It fixes none of the issues, and clearly shows how little the development team know or care about the character’s player base.

This is a good use of Valkyrie. Mercy can bait Genji to target her and avoid him with Valkyrie. After he uses his swift strike, he can easily be focused down and avoided by teammates.

I’ve always done this. Sometimes no amount of healing can save an ally; Mercy can take damage for allies or kill the attacker herself.

Except, I usually don’t need Valk for this. GA is 30m and with a spread out team (the single most common thing in the game), the only limiting factor is LoS.

Mercy’s chances of survival against Genji are greatly increased during Valkyrie. Sometimes GA isn’t fast enough to escape him, or there isn’t a teammate to fly to.

Lolwat. GA not being fast enough? vs Valkyrie? I don’t even–

GA is 50% faster during Valkyrie.

more fun than supercharger

Not really, though. You just put down supercharger and shoot anyone who gets near it while your team destroys the enemy.

Meanwhile, all Mercy can do is hold M1 + space bar. Wow, such excitement. much engaging

What if Genji attacks from in between you and your GA target? The only way to escape him in that situation is Valkyrie.

It’s ‘strong’, sure, but it’s also very boring. The game is playing itself. At least with Resurrect, I had to be planning 2 steps ahead in real time, had to keep track of enemy ults AND team ults, have to know where everyone was at any time. Now, I just pop Valk and make myself a sandwich while the game does everything for me.

I’m exaggerating, but seriously. Valkyrie is one big, boring hitscan target practice. No strategy, no planning. Just hug the skybox holding LMB, and maybe RMB now and then. Wow, how engaging. My mind feels invigorated from all this strategy and planning. .-.

Valkyrie’s vertical movement is way too slow to escape from Gengu in that case, and if GA can’t save you there, Valk won’t either.

It requires good timing to avoid him.

“It is against everything that Mercy is”

I didn’t know there was some sort of bible that says what each hero should be

So it’s strong because you can use it to run away from Dragonblade or other ults? You can do that with like 20 non-ult abilities in this game…

The strong part of Valk is the chain damage boost, but that part is also dreadfully boring.

Not to mention, Orisa can do it better.

That’s not really an argument. Soldier has auto aim? So what? I don’t play him, I DID play mercy so her losing her depth isn’t great. Infra sight gives widow much better information to inform her decisions so what’s so bad about that?

Mercy used to have a fun ult that required a lot of thought. Valk is trash.
