I’ve tried to create a ticket, but I haven’t been able to create a technical support ticket for months. The ‘submit’ button doesn’t do anything after “loading” for a few seconds, so I’m making a forum post instead.
I’ve had excruciating latency issues for a while now. I’ve been bounced back and forth between my ISP and Blizzard support. Below is an MTR test that shows the hop from my modem to my ISP’s neighborhood node is not ideal, but it shows that the delays on later hops are much more severe.
Is there absolutely anything I can do on my end to remedy this?
The second hub which is likely your home public IP address 10.60.200.194 is showing immediate lag spikes of up to 221 milliseconds. It is very likely there is a problem with your router or your immediate connection hub with your ISP. Try these steps first…
Shut down all computers connected to the modem/router.
Power down and unplug the modem and the router if you’re using one.
Allow to sit for 60 seconds unplugged.
Plug in and turn on the modem and router, and allow them to completely boot up until the front panel connection lights on the modem show a steady connection.
Start the computer and allow it to completely boot up.
Thanks for your response! Unfortunately, it didn’t really help.
I’ve sent the MTR test to the network team at my ISP and they’re looking into the local node issue.
But, several hops down the line the pings get much worse anyway (4310 at et-0-0-29-br02-eqsv5. as57976. net, for example). Having run other MTR tests, these later nodes have these issues even when my local node is behaving.
So I’m wondering what I can do on my end to improve the network stability.
Those hops are designed to ignore the most test packets from this type of test. This results in high ping values, which do not continue throughout the end of the test (demonstrating they are not a concern). Ultimately, with the lag happening so close to your home, you’ll probably need to wait for repairs from the ISP.
