It is possible, with practice and talent, to develop excellent aim on controller without using aim assist. One of my coworkers, a console player, turns off aim assist in all of his games at setup.
We’re saying its an unfair advantage in 99% of situations where PC vs PC would have to land a clutch shot, but in Console vs PC they just have to land a regular shot, its literally like playing with training wheels but those training wheel are a soft aimbot.
Ooo! Good to know! Sorry about that. I swore I read that it just disables in general in crossplay groups. My ADHD brain probably skimmed over the competitive aspect on accident and I never realized. ![]()
I’m confused now. The comment below yours actually states the opposite. Idk what’s real.
Blizzard made it more convoluted than it needed to be.
This is just false. XD
No one’s saying it does nothing. It definitely helps. Overwatch would be basically unplayable on console with heroes like tracer and genji, and all the other mobility. That’s the only situation I can think of where it’s actually helped me in all my years of playing; in close range. At longer range, it’s actually a detriment, because I can’t hold my crosshair in a place to wait for someone to peak, because when they DO peak, they’ll move my crosshair.
There’s no universe where aim assist offers more of an advantage than a mouse.
Nope. Aim assist is there in crossplay since 2022.

Crossplay and Aim Assist
We made a change to Aim Assist in Crossplay (PC+ Console) lobbies. If you play in a Crossplay game now, Aim Assist is enabled in all matches except Competitive.
This has not changed to this day for qp.
There is. Console players can now (since this or last season) play with pc players in competitive but they need to have real mouse and keyboard. And then their aim assist is disabled. It’s effectively an “input based” pool of players.
Which is how it should be as far as I’m concerned.
tldr:
console players in qp crossplay have aim assist with controllers / xim devices.
console players in competitive crossplay can only play with kbm without aim assist.
Blizzard first announced the mouse and kehbosrd on console and in the article it seemed to imply that aim assist would be off. But then they put out the article I linked, that cleared it up. They are also definitely using old information because they said there is no crossplay in ranked. Which changed this season, just that there is no aim assist in ranked. So either the console player is using mouse and keyboard, or just at a big disadvantage. Which I doubt many want to play without aim assist on controller.
Article I linked is from just over a month ago.
PC players will always have advantage in Aim, reaction times, hits, speed, frame rate, and multiple other factors, keep wining. PC gamers are only useful for cheating and drama no matter the game they play anyways. If developers want their games on PC that version of the game should be treated as a separate entity from the console version
PC scrub gets wrecked by leet Console gamer.
Ego can’t handle the skill diff, comes to forums to complain
if you Q with your console friends u can be sure to get reported
I’m actually the console friend
I Q with my PC friends.
I drag them down being a lower rank then them, but I make them laugh with my jokes, so they keep inviting me
pray you dont Q against me then
I assume you’re high ranking? Something like masters yeah?
Because if so, the chances of that are quite slim. Not zero I mean it is quick play
It’s always funny how PC players think console players are terrible but then complain about losing to them when matched up
Y’all really overvalue the aim assist lol
Well yeah its unfair to have to work for the same results that console players literally have handed to them thanks to aim assist.
Its like on demand bullet time every time your reticule crosses someone, in a game with zero movement acceleration its practically a soft aimbot.
If aim assist was as good as you think it is, everybody on console would be excellent at landing shots
Lemme tell you, they aren’t. Accuracy stats are about the same as PC is on average I imagine. Stop using aim assist as a scapegoat for your own shortcomings, you’ll never improve that way.
They are, console has a much higher skill floor than PC because of it. Youre all boosted by the same mechanic, PC has a much higher skill ceiling and much deeper skill floor.
I think you’re misunderstanding the causal effect here. Aim assist isn’t to give console players a mechanical advantage. It’s to prevent PC players from having total mechanical superiority against possible console players.
Even with aim assist, controllers can’t possibly get the kind of precision and accuracy that mouse and keyboard peripherals get.
Well thats the point? Why do we have to suffer them? Or them, us?
Again, if it mattered as much as you think it does, then aim accuracy would be much higher on average. It is not, I can tell you that from experience in console matches, PC matches, and crissplay matches.
You think it’s unfair, and it is but for the console players because PC still has an easier time aiming both better and faster even despite the aim assist.
