Which is why my guess is that they just use developers to do it. With some monetary incentive.

lol. this game is on the cusp of maintenance mode. they aren’t wasting money on a game that’s at the point where matchmaking, even after loosening MMR matching, gives you the same lobbies a half dozen times in a row…
100%, when their are questions posted like “how much is your budget for skins per month? :D” or “how do we feel about map pools?” etc. Like these are actually threads that get made by “randoms” allegedly.
They definitely do read the forums tho, but I believe they probably only read threads that get a certain amount of traction - like a couple thousand views, or several hundred comments, and at that they probably only skim.
There have been THOUSANDS of threads about the state of things like
- biotic grenade
- discord
- damage boost
- immortality field
- ressurect
- pharmercy
- genji and his ultimate
- symmetra
- mei
If I were a dev, I would tune most of these out. Its clear that people will complain about these issues until the end of time, no matter what is actually happening in the game. (its always the same people complaining…)
maybe if certain topics REALLY picked up steam, were being hardcore spammed on the forums AND streamers/pros were talking about them, THEN I would start reading those biggest threads and picking up the key patterns of complaints and getting it on a developer priority list.
I feel like they do read and research community feeling on the forums- just much less than other sites. The culture on the forums is an echo chamber of negativity and people really don’t know what theyre talking about most of the time.
You could have 20 people whining about symmetra 2.0 for YEARS, but the fact is, there are plenty of sym mains actually playing the game, the people who stream her think she is fine, she can be meta in the pro scene more or less consistently for YEARS and all the stats will say she is actually performing really well- the same 20 people will still whine on the forums until the end of time. If I were a developer, I’d ignore/block them as well from being on my radar. Its just a waste of time to read the same old complaints. If people are still playing, at a certain point, you gotta just say haters gonna hate

I’m pretty sure they do pick up on the patterns of complaints we have when theyre consistent across youtube, reddit, twitter, twitch, the forums etc. But most of us on here barely play the game, barely understand the game, and would just make the game broken if we were allowed to make changes.
Devs would use the forums for a litmus test on certain issues but nothing more because they actually have the stats and feedback to make decisions- we are players not game developers and most people on here just enjoy having something to whine and complain about
100% without a doubt there are Devs here (and former) that go through these forums. You can figure out usually whom it is.
The most obvious was someone that was praising the battlepass…
Its a form of social engineering, is manipulation of us to think a certain way.

I suspect there are (or at least were) some in here attempting damage control at some points. Sometimes it really seems like they don’t play the game at all, but I’d be really surprised if that were the case. I don’t think all of them do, though.
Sometimes I think they spend more money on understanding player (consumer) psychology than they do developing the actual gameplay.

I doubt they talk on the forums but I’m sure they read them to some extent along with other social media. Feedback is pretty important.

I don’t believe they’re allowed to communicate with the public unless it’s been sanctioned by higher ups. That’s what I’ve heard at least.
Yeah, unfortunately the part that they invest in is “how do we suck more money out of players”…
Why would they even need alts? Its not like we have a google doc with hundreds of employees battle.net names
