Nowhere in the game does it tell you you’re railroaded into a single role until now. Nowhere in the past 3 years.
Besides, when they keep changing heroes so drastically, what’s the point? Dva was my tank main before Hammond, but she was changed around three different times to the point where anyone who plays her has to relearn a new playstyle every time she’s reworked. And she’s getting hit AGAIN with the new ult charge nerfs.
Not my fault I wanted to learn a new tank that actually has a fun playstyle that suits my specific skill set, and who’s playstyle is similar to what Dva’s was when I first picked the game up (high mobility bully flank tank with an ability that soaks damage).
Do remember that overwatch has dozens of heroes that play differently for a reason. So there’s a playstyle combination for everyone.
Now those people are getting punished if their heroes aren’t all clumped into a single role (which, spoiler alert, almost all of the tanks play really differently and not everyone is a perfect flex). If hammond isn’t working, I switch to a different role and let someone else in the team fill (if they want to). I can’t do that anymore. It’s stupid.
It’s all the same crap, what if a situation presents it’s self and I can’t swap to DPS. All is lost without my dps carry potential. My teammates are all potatoes who refuse to swap off Sym/Junkrat/Moira/Brig/Rein while Pharah reigns supreme from the skies.
What do I do about this strawman I have constructed?!
When playing a team game/sport you don’t have control over every aspect, if this is what you desire single 1v1 games are where you should be.
Your error was queuing for all roles - of course you’re going to be disappointed if you didn’t want to play tank.
Also, it’s the PTR. Games are notoriously bad on there, and not many people use it. Once released into the main game and ranks settle, 2-2-2 will work better more often.
If you were having problems pushing, your tanks were most likely the problem and not your DPS.
Regardless, it’s PTR. You’ll find that a large portion of the players don’t care whatsoever about their rank or whether they win/lose on it since it doesn’t carry over to live. The matches will be lower quality than the final release on live.
It completely changes the game, instead of 30 heroes you now got 2 handful of heroes to chose from. Unique comps are gone, maybe thats a good thing in some cases, but its also part of the fun. If your 4 support comp doesnt work you could still switch…now its 222 forever, just lame imo.
And if you really think trollers, unbalanced matches etc will disappear i got bad news for you. It will also create new problems, like described in the first post.
Because it has been well-known that there has never been enough players on the PTR to have good matchmaking. With every major patch to the PTR there’s a surge of players that then go back to live after a few hours.
Online games are subject to change, the EULA gives Blizzard the right to do as they please.
All online games experience balance changes. Dva was never changed to have a new playstyle. Spamming DM isn’t a playstyle. What online games are you playing that remain static for their lifetime?
So now you must learn 1 other tank which pairs well with Hammond for the situations in which hammond gets chosen before you. Or up your instalock game. Expecting someone who selects a role to be able to play more than 1 hero from that role isn’t unreasonable.
Yes, and they’re all still accessible to you. Just not all the time. If you don’t like any tanks besides Hammond you’re going to have a bad time when you get on a team with another 1 trick. The easy solution to this is learning another tank which pairs well with Hammond…one of those tanks is Dva which you claim to already have a bunch of experience on.
I think I played a different game, these fabled flex are non existent in my games.
People “flex” from tank and sup to DPS but rarely the other way around. Most matches are 4-1-1 or worse and don’t come with the argument “but in these very few matches flexing would be really awesome”, because one out of 20 or less is not enough
You say that like it’s currently not an unbalanced hellscape, lol.
I’m guessing that deep down, people realize that it’s going to be even more of a crapfest if the last handful of tank & support mains leave that mode for the structure of 2-2-2, and now they’re getting a little nervous.
It’s just going to be a DPS fest, honestly the live game is dead to me until role queue comes to it. I’ll just play on PTR, don’t even care if matchmaking is less accurate.
Limited sample size so it needs more time, but so far my games have been considerably more fun and less full of the team biting at eachother.
Do you know how many times I’ve had to solo heal for a 5 man dps squad with at least 3 of those dps screaming we need a tank and can we get another healer? No one swops and the enemy team (who actualy plays tanks and healers steamrolls us)
Ptr games last night were way better and the teams felt closer to each other interms of skill, their is no way the matchmaker can be accurate by having an sr score combining all 3 roles.
