Tracer skill floor is only slightly higher than the usual but once you clear that, she really isn’t that hard since she’s literally a COD character with dual SMG and her entire job is to run and gun.
Combined with effective mid-range weapon, a literal get out of jail card + immense mobility, the 150 hp handicapped isn’t as crippling as it should be.
You’ve literally never played CoD before and it shows.
You dont play Tracer and it shows.
Anyone can write down a hero’s kit and go “Buhhh its OP! See they do XYZ!”… You can make literally any hero sound OP doing this, and its often meme’d on because it’s obvious what you’re trying to do…
It’s common on the forums for people to justify nerfing a hero “Because they’re not THAT hard to play.” …When in reality, nobody saying these things has made it above Diamond - let alone actually play the hero in question.
I have nearly 900+ hours in MW2 alone, tracer is a literal run, gun, akimbo ump-45, sticky grenade loadout.
I’m a literally plat trash that rose to diamond and dropped back down to where I was, and I still can safely say even on plat, tracer is problematic due to how good her toolkit has. You have to get 2-3 person to even control her, and she still can be effective.
Tracer is a bloody relic that hasn’t changed since the early days, and it shows. She’s still one of the strongest, viable heroes that they have to introduce an equally broken character to shut her down completely (Alongside breaking the game in the process.).
3 instantaneous blinks and an ability that makes her untargetable and rewinds her position while recalling all the hp she lost in that duration? wouldnt rlly call that high risk <3
Tracer is C/D tier for everyone except the best players though. It’s only until the best players are playing her that she becomes S tier because of how high her skill floor & ceiling are
They expect mobility to have no counter I guess…cuz apparently, aim is supposed to counter mobility, when…like…it’s the other way around. A player needs to be significantly better than the Tracer to win. If you are of equal skill, you are at a disadvantage.
That’s a myth. She is more like B/A tier. Blink and Recall are two of the most powerful and forgiving abilities in the game period. They make it so even a moron can get some value out of her.
Unless they like…waste all three blinks for no reason lol.
This is one of the rare cases where they’re right. The skill required to play Tracer is overrated. You just need to not be a complete idiot and you’re already well above the skill rank you should be in.
Well I was referring to ladder, and in almost all cases players are better off playing someone besides Tracer until Masters at the very least. Players just don’t have the mechanical skill to get as much value on her as they do other heroes like Soldier/Hanzo/Junkrat etc.
For most of ladder she’s B tier at best. Players aren’t 1 clipping or living forever until GM/OWL for the most part. Counter picking her isn’t even necessary until the Tracer players are top tier
My personal experience says otherwise. Unless we’re talking bronze/low silver, Tracer’s value increases exponentially with how forgiving Blink is as an ability.
Difference of experience then. I agree Tracers value exponentially increases as you climb but at least for me they don’t get as much value as they do on other heroes until GM. If a Tracer is good enough that I feel the need to counter her they almost always swap off, but in GM/OWL they don’t always because they’re so good
In an ideal world Tracer would take a lot of skill sadly she’s the poster girl of OW. Thus entire balance patches revolve around Tracer. Hero’s dmg is reduced to put them under a threshold of being able to one shot Tracer.
Armor packs and other health boost abilities are removed because it made tracer too strong to have extra HP. Simply put because Tracer exist any kind of anti mobility or flanking hero isn’t allowed to exist.
She’s the poster girl of OW and she can’t be trash. So things like Turrets get nerfed. Accurate hero’s can’t do 150 dmg in a single shot and usually stop at 140-145. Just so tracer can survive.
She’s “fun to play” because she doesn’t require a whole lot of skill. Especially after her falloff decrease. If she required skill, she’d be a rare sight.
Seriously, she already had a buff that lets her shots hit hard from further away, meaning no need to be in point blank range. Yet you want that falloff decreased further? Might as well switch those SMGs to an AR at that point.
Anyway, Tracer takes little skill thanks to the falloff change, but also Blink cooling down too fast & Recall giving back health. Everyone spams Blink & Recall to death. She has no risks thanks to those.
Then there’s her instant kill ult, which isnt easy to avoid because it always comes out in chaotic situations.
