Just call yourself a feeder and move on
If your “practicing” is throwing games, of course people are going to be upset, that is the natural and expected reaction.
I think part of learning a new character also means knowing when it’s time to swap. Whether it’s in unranked or ranked. If you’re providing no value, you swap. QP obviously isn’t super serious so I would just turn off comms especially if you’re practicing Widow, Ball, Doom etc.
You aren’t a new player if you have thousands of hours. Period.
That’s a lot of things not to know for “the only thing.” Your “thousands of hours” line really hammers home to me that you know you are being the problem but just don’t care. ergo: selfish.
It’s selfish because everyone has to go along with you or gtfo… If they say anything about your bad performance they’re being “toxic” That’s the very definition of selfish. Maybe you should be a team player once in a while instead of always forcing something that doesn’t work, performing badly, and then calling negative feedback toxic. You are the toxic teammate throwing games fyi.
Team players think: What can I do to best help my teammates when.
Selfish players think: I want to practice this hero and everyone just needs to work around or accommodate me.
It’s totally you prerogative to be selfish and “practice” any hero you want. Just don’t come crying all “Shocked Pikachu Face” to the Forums about toxicity when you get negative feedback about your very lackluster performance.
So whats the difference then if i have a decent understanding of a hero but don’t know what i can accomplish on it vs a new player who has no clue whatsoever on how to play the game?
Thats right i have experience on this game, the new person doesn’t.
That doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be able to gain more experience and learn something else.
So new players shouldn’t be allowed to gain any experience in your eyes on new heroes, nor should a more experienced player.
You know what all of those things combined have in common? Lack of experience on said hero.
Who says im always forcing something and it doesn’t work. Basically you are saying nobody is allowed to play a new hero unless they are already good on it and have the perfect conditions for it.
I also dont always preform badly, i just dont get max value or as much value as someone who is good at the hero.
Just because i ain’t great on something doesn’t mean i am throwing.
It would be throwing if i went into comp and played doomfist in a diamond lobby while getting absolutely rolled. Hence i dont play doomfist in ranked… hence i play in quickplay to be able to get better and play him in ranked.
You seem to think i am selfish for not swapping to the best heroes i am capable of. Except why should i be forced to swap?
Should i ask every single player who is not playing the optimal heroes to win to swap because they could preform better if they did?
No, because that would be selfish of me, its literally a game meant to be played for fun that has no detriments if you win or lose, i dont ask people to swap of junkrat sym against phara mercy in quickplay.
Why would i? They understand its not good against a phara but they dont care because they find the heroes they play fun.
Its literally unranked, meaning anyone can be free to play whatever they went, is free to leave at any point and losing doesn’t derank you or demote you or whatever.
The only reason i said i was semi throwing is because if i did swap i would be able to win said game allot easier or atleast have a higher chance of winning them.
If i was in a game and saw someone type that out i would have left immediately, I only got a couple hours i can play and i dont want to waste them on someone practicing/not taking the game seriously. especially when the character you want to practice is getting countered by the enemy team
And that is exactly the reason why i type that. To let people know/what they can expect.
However if someone doesn’t take the game seriously i dont think thats bad persee in unranked. Thats what ranked mode is for in my opinion. To take it seriously.
Leaving gets you an xp penalty. So if in every game there’s one or two chuckleheads for 4 games in a row, you’re going to get penalized even if you leave before the match starts.
Stop throwing games. Practice playing against whatever the enemy team is running and your team is running. Stop forcing your pick into bad matchups just so you can “learn” how to play against them. All that time would be better spent learning how to adapt.
But, that’s not how the OW2 community wants to play. I’ve seen far too many games where Mr. Practicing tells someone, “It’s just a game,” to validate the hero they’re playing, then start complaining at other members of the team for not playing the way they think they should be playing.
Anyway, community thinks you should be able to do whatever you want whenever you want and not criticize anything. So you do you, Swanky.
I’d just stop saying this. It’s nice of you to be transparent about it. But this basically says to your team “hey I’m practice heroes I’m not good at, so if we lose it’s all on me.” Just play and don’t give your team a reason to point the blame at you.
Yeah i tried that but then ill get told to swap about 10 times lol.
Play whoever you want and ignore chat. That is what I do.
Last match, a teammate waas saying sup diff and insulting me because I was playing aggressive Moira. I blocked them and continued playing normally.
If you cannot stand insults, hide chat.
maybe that character just isnt for you, ive tried most of the characters but they just dont fit my playstyle.
And what if i already know exactly what to play in order to win?
This game ain’t chess, its overwatch. I don’t need to play the perfect hero to win a unranked game.
Unranked is literally just half a game. If you want serious games play ranked? Thats what its for after all.
Nah. Sometimes the best way to get good at heroes is to just grind hours on that one hero. Like widow. I’ve mostly only played widow for the past week (quickplay) and only swapped if I got triggered enough. But for some heroes to get better you play against your counters. It’ll teach you better positioning and will help with awareness.
Its not that i can’t stand it, i just dont understand why i get told such things in the first place.
It’s not about being serious. It’s about being a team player in a team-oriented pvp game. If you already know what to play, then play it.
Like I said, I know my opinion is the apparent minority. I think you should help your team and try to win. We won’t see eye-to-eye and I’ve accepted that most of the Overwatch community would rather soft troll.
You’ve already won, Swanky.
heck there is exen toxicity if someone is having a off/bad day like in one match i wasnt doing well then i started to stomp people
As a former flex player. I’ve flexed too much for the selfish playerbase. I play what makes me happy. But because I have this mentality I do not touch comp.
Selfish player base so I’m selfish now too. Seems about right.
Like I said, no one’s gonna change any minds here and your point of view seems to be the generally accepted one.
Because of anonymity. The worst thing that can happen to them is to get banned, so these “people” do not care about consequences.
It is unranked, after all, if you want to improve you have to play the game. I personally play vs AI, but after more than 100 matches, they are so predictable that it is boring.
