To be fair they’re probably not addressing toxicity yet because the game literally doesn’t work.
ive expierenced some of the toxicity myself on overwatch 2 but its not as bad as Overwatch…yet
Quit thinking you are entitled to constructive criticism, people are entitled to criticize others without being constructive. You may not enjoy it, but that’s freedom for you, and it’s far from actual toxicity.
Like i dont know why many supports are playing literal tank, i had a moira that was front lining infront of orissa, all the while we had their sombra flanking us, i mean i took care of sombra as ashe but still, if she was doing the peeling part on sombra the game would be so much easier.
Social contracts? Ruin the game for us? What’s next, a re-education center? Jesus Christ…
It’s a damn video game and even worse, a free-to-play one, that has people of all ages playing and joining in now. Expect the worst and if it bothers you then disable in-game voice chat and the chat itself.
They can make whatever “Defense Matrixes” they want, people will still find ways to be toxic. If you can’t handle the Internet, then don’t be on it. People will be people and there’s nothing that can be done about it.
Quit thinking that people are required to play a certain role for you, just because they have before. It’s a new game, with a lot of character reworks, why can’t people experiment and try new stuff out, maybe they are a tank main now
FFXIV community isn’t as touchy and calls everything “Toxic”. It’s a cooperative experience people need to work together to succeed and people actually play to win.
I’ve been playing games online for well over 15 years now and never had I been banned once, on any game. My first experience with a ban was on OW simply for quoting DVA “is this easy mode” everyone reported me because they where in a group.
Trash talking is perfectly acceptable in most games as well to a certain extent. This like “ez” and tbagging aren’t exactly soul shattering but OW players will report for it often. My main rule for reporting someone is if they are yelling, being excessively vulgar, racist or playing music thru their headset.
As someone who has played games for a long time. I feel like the OW community is mostly new to gaming and have expectations that are unrealistic about player behavior. Trash talking is part of the fun and it makes games challenging because it makes players try. Then in turn OW players do things that are simply unacceptable to most veteran gamers - like saying “it’s just QP” that to me is toxic. If you’re playing any game/sport both teams have the most fun when both teams play to win. Not playing to win is throwing, not changing heroes when asked nicely is throwing, having your mic off preventing coms is throwing.
There in lies the problem with OW and Blizzard who pays lip service to these complainers.
Just fight fire with fire, report them even for the most neutral thing possible and try to get the whole server to report them too. That’s my way of getting back at players. Use the system to your advantage.
Since you can be reported for anything i just report people for being anything but positive. That’s how I become “toxic” towards other players.
Why? Cause I’ve been reported for sarcasm people dont get and they treat it as such. Example: “Oh please, your team only won cause we lost!” It gets a few laughs but others blow it up. Another one: Torb flanks with a turret and gets a few kills, I think its a smart play and say “Torb, you sneaky rat!” Man baby proceeds to make a scene that calling him a rat is toxic and reports me.
Yes, I’ve been reported for stuff like that and yes the GM have removed suspensions after contacting them for how dumb it is.
Everything and anything is toxic today. So dumb…
dude dpsing as moira is one thing, tanking as moira is not a thing, experiment in qp or some custom games stop throwing for others.
People will be people, and for better or worse, I love the beauty and the chaos of online gaming. I worry about online becoming overly sanitized
Then I should have the freedom to say that people like you legitimately piss me off, that think that saying things with the sole purpose of upsetting others and making them feel like crap is acceptable, and people that are affected by this should be the ones who are punished.
I reported 100 accounts in the remaining days of OW1 for people using or saying the N word or homophobic slurs/ fat shaming etc. All those people are in OW2 + million’s more. Blizzard doesn’t care about your feelings only your wallet. I won’t be the only one playing my other accounts when I get banned just like they will do the same. All because they removed phone numbers The fact that I can be toxic, get banned, and now play my alt account because I only have 1 phone and continue being toxic lol.
What they need is a system like endo but blizzard monitors and rewards people for not false reporting and your reports. You get a badge that uprades depending on how much trash you report. The everyone can see the badges of people trying to clean up the game and you know are not toxic themselves.
Reporting is also tough now as you dont get that menu after game in the player bar below.
you have to go to social menu and report.
Honestly, I’ve seen very little toxicity in OW2 so far, nowhere near as bad as it was in OW1.
To be fair, I’m seeing a lot of what I assume are DPS players and new players discovering the exciting world of tank for the first time and a lot of them are bad at it. Like, I have had to be the actual tank as a Brig, against my will, more than I’m comfortable with. I assume they will get better with time. Well, most of them anyhow. Anyhow I imagine part of it might be games under these guys have made some of these supports think this is just a crazy free for all (I mean which it can be) and part of it might be these are new players. But who knows. DPS minded supports have always been around right?
Some people nowadays are soooo sensitive lol, it’s like if they would in real life to mama because another child called them some bad words.
JUST IGNORE IT! IT IS THE INTERNET, NOTHING SPOKEN IS MEANT SERIOUSLY! EVEN DEATH THREATS AND STUFF ARE NOT MEANT SERIOUSLY BY PEOPLE! IT IS THE INTERNET! BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND IT!
I’ve been lucky and able to play a lot since launch (no idea how) and so far the most “toxic” comment I saw was when someone was like “F*%% group up!” which was actually really solid advice since the whole team was running around going in solo every time they spawned. It’s been weirdly a lot less toxic than OW1 in my experience. One person asked if they could play Kiriko after I picked her and I said sure and swapped w/ them. That’s not what I’d consider toxic.
In a team game if you’re berating your team, you’re not a proper teammate.
If you continuously behave like that after multiple warnings, a permanent ban is totally warranted. If you’ve received that many warnings, you are definitely a negative influence to the game.
I agree, people are too sensitive.
People who flip out and lash out at teammates because they don’t play exactly how they want are EXTREMELY sensitive, about as sensitive as your average toddler.
It’s not other people’s job to worry about YOUR mental health. Some people simply don’t have the linguistics skills to know how to give construtive criticism. All criticism IS constructive and any criticism even if meant in a constructive manner can hurt someone’s feelings.
This is my take. If I’m playing a role or hero and I’m being consistently told I suck then guess what? I assume I suck and I either care enought to look up some videos on how to get better or I try some other role or hero. Stop expecting people ro be nice to you if you aren’t willing to put the effort to not be a hindering to other players who want to win.
