Another reason, that lvl 30 genji just solo’d your entire team. Or oh heyyy that unkillable Tracer just took out all your healers, and the McCree who was her “counter”, and she gets a 40-kill streak card.
Part of the problem is being in silver with silver skillsets. This problem is further exacerbated by higher ranked players with alt accounts using lower tiers as target practice (better than the game’s AI) at zero cost to their main account, usually filling chat with insults the entire time. It’s not only detrimental to a lower rank’s SR, it’s psychological warfare.
Spend a day or 2 in silver / bronze / gold and see what they go through. Especially on the weekends.
This isn’t being negative, it’s being realistic. There have been countless “Road to GM” campaigns. Never heard of a Top 500 player get stuck in Silver because of bad teammates and throwers.
That’s like saying “If this car can travel across flat, dry roads then it should logically be able to drive over marshland.”
Team comp is vital if you want to climb. Unless you’re a fantastic player - as in, Top 500 level - then team comp can easily be the difference between a close game that results in a loss and a confident victory.
Sure, there are multiple comps that could work, but some are undeniably better than others. And when people want to win, they’re obviously going to want the best comp they can get.
Right by that I don’t mean artificial challenges, I mean purchase a new account, play seriously, play your hardest get ranked and climb that is the best way to do that so called challenge.
Those with gifted or experienced with mechanical skill are good with x hero and have game sense will climb naturally but the problem is forcing an account down to the lower ranks and then ranking up. That is distinctly the wrong way to do it and isn’t an accurate method to prove a point.
It depends on the situation, I have actually won games that were going to be an evident lost by discarding the notion of team work and filling up a role as a 3rd DPS/Tank and making a difference by proving to my team I am filling in for them and that they are sucking at their job
When some one tricks a hero or locks in a role and are insistent on playing that role then I expect them to do their primary job and I expect them to do it well and co-operate as a team so that we can win.
Not trying to heal someone who decides to dash in as Genji, toying with Roadhog to feed off him to get that sweet dragon blade and 1 man slash the enemy team after everyone died or Reinhardt charging in by himself or someone refusing to switching off a hero that is causing them to be hard countered (Junkrat vs Pharah)
I have spent a lot of time playing Widowmaker to get good, I know I can climb with her but people whine, they complain, they are unwilling to support play and in the end… I end up having to fill as people throw tantrums!
I know my DPs need working on but at least I can now Soldier and Reaper confidently and whilst my Pharah sucks… I did went her and turn the tide as Brigitte was destroying us.
The thing for me that is most likely holding me back is the fact that at the start… I flex and try to be nice and fill in the gaps for the team and when things go really sore and we are failing to win… I try to compensate here and there and it can often leads to over working myself trying to make up the difference when people do not care.
So my current philosophy is… quit whilst I am ahead… no need to play 100 games and stress… just climb maybe 100SR then quit the season.
It’s definitely wrong to do since it ruins games, but a bronze game is a bronze game whether you were placed in bronze or deranked there.
Also the “Bronze to GM” challenges, were done with new accounts, as throwing to derank gets you banned.
Find a hero that you enjoy that is high impact and practice them. Then just play them no matter what and carry the game. Sure, you won’t win 'em all. Kabaji (he’s Top 500 DPS main - just in case you don’t know) lost games in Platinum. Some games are just unwinable. Some games, equally, are unlosable. Then, there are those games where you make a significant difference, and you need to maximise the value you get.
Yes but you can’t place in bronze in the normal of circumstances since the average drop off point after placement is in fact mid Gold to low plat
Unless you play really terribly and lose all your matches but even then… people who are doing the deranked challenges are skilled so there is a good chance they are winning matches so hypothetically they should place mid to high plat…
But to place Bronze by purposely performing bad or deranking to do the challenge isn’t a ok thing to do.
Like you cannot rank down to Bronze or start off in bronze without tricking the system and even in bronze, yes the quality of matches are low but since there are high SR derankers there and people who are just smurfing and trolling, if the MMR system worked, it will take a longer Queue Time and when you do fight someone the matches will be better than a pure bronze match.
There is a difference between being Bronze because you are genuinely that bad and being artificially that bad to do a over rated challenge to earn money from your fan base (Entertainment business!)
Something I was fortunate to do this placement this season… but the problem still presist =_= like not giving a … about people is great… when it comes to ranking but at the same time if that causes children to throw a tantrum… I still have to fill (I’m sorry for being too nice I guess… you know… someone has to make that sacrifice and play support or fill as a tank)
Tanks and Supports can be just as high impact as a DPS. This is especially so with heroes that are capable of high DPS, like Zen and Zarya. When I first started comp on PC I’d already clocked 500-600 hours on PC, so I was much better than the people in my games, and I played Ana to get up the ranks.
#11 is a big one. For me, personally, I was a big fan of old sym and was pissed at how they reworked her for new sym and stopped playing her… I just picked her up again and now I realize how strong nu-sym is. I’ve been dominating my games with her and have had over a 70% win rate since picking her back up. Her ability to melt shields and teleport herself anywhere are great utility tools and the ability to throw turrets makes her much better at being able to fight pharah. Her best aspect is that she hard counters Brigitte very easily. You can melt her shield from outside of shield bash range and then melt her dumb face
Agreed. People that say “I can’t climb because I’m a tank/support main. If I played dps, I’d climb easily but I’m too nice to insta-lock them” irritate me the most. It’s a complete copout and arrogant as hell to act like they are better than the dps at their rank but just don’t play dps “to be nice”.
If you can’t climb on whatever role you play, it’s because you are not playing well AT YOUR ROLE. I’m a dps main, but I decided to pick up zenyatta for the first time ever, once I hit gold for the first time. I then proceeded to climb from the bottom of gold to plat with a 70%+ win rate, only playing Zenyatta and getting an end of game player card almost every game. Explain that, support mains that say it is impossible to climb out of low rank playing support.
It is very irritating to be a dps main and have the tank/support players put all of the blame on you for a game going badly when they are not playing their role adequately and giving you the support to succeed. It is almost never 100% the dps player’s fault the game was lost. Any role can carry if the player is good at that role
Yes but then there is a matter of compatibility with x heroes there are heroes people will feel comfortable with playing and some heroes they aren’t
Also there is role compatibility and role fulfilment… yes you can do stuff beyond your role but example… if you start to attack as Zen or Moira people will complain about healing or lack of healing.
As a tank some people push too far and end up causing issues.
As a Ana you have to land your shots, I tend to focus on the bigger targets because DPS can go … themselfes when they spam blink and spacebar or mash A&D
Like you have mentioned by playing certain heroes I can extend past the given role I am playing, I can win my matches by playing my match and so far I have 542 hours logged and like you said… I feel as if I am better at this game than most people in my matches like I have studied position, watch videos, spent hours training heroes to play and win with but then with individual performance improvements… the issue becomes… how do I claimb rank when in I would say 50%+ of my matches I am having to fill to balance out the team and to avoid people have a tantrum over not having a Healer or a lack of shield tank or a lack of this or a lack of that.
Or when matches are going really well but then (noticing this a lot recently) there is a massive performance drop when you are rolling the opposition, no one is pushing hard and then at the last minute, that is when people start to desperately demand wanting to win when for the last 3 to 4 minutes I have been advising the team to not trickle in, to regroup, warning them that we have fed their ultimates and they are ready for us or we need switches to counter.
I feel there needs to be a Sub SR system that reflect individuality and Hero performance as well as the current SR system which seems to reflect team play/team win loss more
Uhhh. You DO realize that the dps players are moving like that to avoid getting shot by the enemy, not to irritate you, don’t you? Would you prefer that they stand completely still and get deleted by the enemy over and over again? Because that’s what happens if you stand still as a dps player while getting fired at in higher ranks. If you don’t have the aim to hit them with your healing darts as Ana while they are doing that, you really shouldn’t be playing Ana. Her heal hitboxes are very forgiving and as a side note, dps players HAVE to hit shots on players that are constantly moving like that, with less forgiving hitboxes than Ana receives in order to be successful at dps. So Ana players get absolutely no sympathy when they say “stop moving, I can’t heal you”. It’s your job as Ana to make those shots, if you can’t, you are literally throwing by picking Ana
Yeah I am well aware but what about when you retreat or we got the point and we are defending or attacking and the enemy team is dead or regrouping… why do people still spam space or mash their keys so badly >.>
During a fight it is understandable for you to move but when you’re not in a fight or you pull back safely, why would you still move frantically causing more stress for the healer as they attempt to recover you.
This is a matter of Healing priority and situation if it is during a fight then it depends on the positioning of the team mate if I have more confidence in hitting the tanks I will support the tanks, Ana was a Tank healer to begin with, she was the one who enabled the tank meta’s the DPS I will support when I can but if it just going to be a hit an miss combo then supporting people I know I can heal will be better than missing the Genji who is miles ahead of the team, spamming like crazy and is essentially over extending and has obstacles in the way.
The map isn’t one open field with clear line of sight.
Which is why depending on picks and the way the team plays, I will not play her. I would rather play Widowmaker as I can make better use of her to pick off targets rather than having that one genji screaming I need healing and not really playing in a way to get heals even from a Mercy without the two dying in some pathetic double suicide due to over extension.
I would go Ana if the team wasn’t going to dive and burst healing was required to better support the tanks…
I would go Mercy if I want to do raw Heal Slaving
I would go Moira for DPS and Healing
I would go Brigitte if I want to wreck havoc…
Unlike the majority of people in this game… I have the common sense to switch and flex when something doesn’t work, I don’t one trick a Ana for the sake of, oh she is currently meta.
If we need her I will play her if people won’t let me heal properly as her and I don’t gain value I will switch. I play the game how it was SUPPOSE to be played, it is too bad Blizzard has dumped a lot of contradictory elements into this game to promote one tricking >.>
