So I always see everyone claim “x” hero is easy. and I rarely see someone say a hero is hard. I enjoy seeing what the hype is around “hard” hero’s, so I like to give them a try and see if it’s true. Then sure enough the hero that was called “hard” is suddenly “too easy” according to the forums. So I would like to know, in everyone’s own opinion who is the hardest A) Tank B) Support and C) DPS.

Eco is universally known to be the hardest hero in the entire game
widow maker probably the second hardest in the entire game and has the highest skill hat

I think there are certain heroes who have infinite skillcaps, where skill and output keep rising and never really plateau.
Those being:
Ball & Winston (ult only)
Zen
Tracer, Widow, Echo, Ashe, McCree

TANK:
Hardest: At this point? Orisa. Literally everyone else can get some kind of value somewhere.
Easiest: D.Va (note that this does not equate to good, just easier)
SUPPORT:
Hardest: Zenyatta
Easiest: Mercy.
(Brig mains don’t @ me)
DPS:
Hardest: Sombra
Easiest: Reaper or McCree (depending on if your preferred method is ‘eat tank 2 win’ or ‘fan hammer 2 win’)

People do all the time, except instead of “hard” they’re using the word “bad.” A “hard” hero is nothing more than a hero that has to exert more effort to achieve the same value as other heroes at the rank you play.

Tank - hardest is Ball.
Easiest is Winston.
Support - Hardest is Zen, easiest is Mercy.
Dps - Hardest is Tracer, Echo, Widow or Doom. Easiest probably Torb.

I never really looked at it from that perspective, but it’s a good point. I’ve always viewed “hardest” as the one with the highest skill ceiling, but thats another good way to look at it.

Obviously, not universally, since I sure as hell don’t know that.
^^^^ - this person gets it. How hard it is to get the same value as other heroes.
^^^^ - and this person also gets it. Rank is super important in difficulty of heroes.
While it isn’t perfect, a reasonable “difficult” hero list, is look at the bottom of the win rates for your rank.

The best way to judge if a hero is hard if they are bad in low ranks and good in high ranks. That way you know bad players can’t play them and only good players can. Following this I think the hardest heroes are:

Tracer - Across all ranks she’s pretty meh. Her pickrate is average and her winrate is negative until diamond where it’s barely over 50%. Only in GM and masters does her winrate and pickrate become respectable.

Roadhog - In most ranks his stats are really bad. His pickrate is only high because of how fun he is to play but he has one of the worst winrates in the game. He has below a 50% winrate in all ranks but gm.

Brig - She’s another hero that is trash at most ranks. Only in gm are teams able to get value out of her. tbh this one was hard to figure out so I’m not completely sure.

… generally yes, but the problem there is you ALSO sweep up the “this hero requires a lot of team co-ord” into that list.

Well, that DOES make the list smaller, but there is still a couple - I found Mercy WAY easier in high ranks than in lower ones for instance.
I wasn’t better, but I could rely on people to do the right thing more, which meant I could get more value easier.

I wanted to add mercy too because she’s harder than people think. I think Brig is a bit harder to get value from now for lower ranks. Also If I was going to add all heroes into this I’d obviously say heroes like Sombra or Bastion are the hardest. But that’s like saying it’s hard to play blindfolded lol
