This changes will force people to have to play as a team and coordinate abilities. Just look at roadshog changes, He’s play style would change from going away from the team to staying whit the team. Everything about he’s experimental kit screams team oriented.
50 percent damage reduction means you now have work together and focus targes like you should in a team based game.
The community is not ready to play a team based game, The game only really becomes team based when 6 people role que together.
Let’s face it when was the last time you as an individual had a 6 man squad?
I’m not liking everything on the list of changes ,But people need to give it time and may be find a squad of 5 other players and find what synergies well.

The absolute last thing tanks need is more team dependency. No one likes to be at the mercy of others and we want heroes to be liked.

You are correct, and the remaining playerbase has too many players who are selfish or simply do not understand OW is a team game. Just a random brawl game is what some want, it just won’t be much of a game to hold people’s attention very long.

I think there is a right and a wrong way to be team dependend.
Team dependency is okay if its in your own control to play with the team and you arent reliant on the team playing with you, if that makes sense.
Getting the most benefit of a hero while going with and supporting the team. Great.
Getting the most benefit of a hero dependend on teammate decision making.
Not great.
We still need to get value if we have bad teammates.

you want that for a patch thats supposed to be just for fun? you want to be forced to depend on 5 strangers in a match thats supposed to be very casual? i’d rather get a patch that would allow me to better solo carry in this situation, but one players trash and all that

Speak for yourself. Some of us has played organised sports since we were kids and like this game for the teamwork aspects.
Play cod.

The synergies that work well are:
Don’t play tanks that had to do damage to be effective.
Roadhog is hot garbage now. Zarya feels reaaaaally bad.
D.Va is laughable.
Rein, Sigma, Orisa are all alright
You like dealing 36 damage to targets while being straight on their heads?

I’ll speak for myself and my queue times, thanks very much.

Tanks had way too little damage to the point that quick melee was stronger than some of their attacks. Players were already starting to ignore tanks like D.Va and since they were doing so little damage it put more emphasis on double shield comps.
It left the tanks having almost no agency and completely unable to build up ultimates to even try to make plays. Their best value came from being a shield bot and Orisa’s new halt+speed.

This is just my opinion but I don’t think tanks are fun being primarily defensive heroes that don’t contribute much outside of that. I enjoy being an active participant, and I don’t consider being a bullet sponge being an active participant. Give me some lethality if people dare getting close to me.
I get that these tank changes were specifically made to make them more survivable and accessible to new/less skilled players (pretty sure the CC who made the tank changes specifically said this) but it’s not for me. I’ll take Live tank balance any day. But, I do appreciate the changes as temporary/ExC/arcade
I think having different/whacky balance modes in arcade would be a good idea

The concept is good, but the blanket tank damage reduction felt a bit too much. With some adjustments for individual tanks, I think it could work.

Thats why people complain, for some reason team game in people expectation is game to solo carry not to work as a team.

If you have no idea how to properly tank and are speaking about your own experiences from ranks that are populated by players who casually play the game occasionally during the weekends then you’re just talking out of your hat. When players actually play the game at competitive ranks; Tanks are forced to play as a team and coordinate abilities with others regardless. Changes like this don’t change that one way or the other besides removing any singular capability from the tanks. Tanks having at least some adequate DPS is a pre-requisite for them to be threatening without environmental threats. That just makes them worthless bullet sponges, which is extremely horrible design

It won’t force everyone though. Just the tanks.
That aside i wasn’t looking for suggestions to make a better game. I just wanted something crazy to meme around with.
Soething like what i’ve suggested for another experimental card:
Reinhardt:
-now has a fuel bar that will passively fill up at a slow rate.
-barrier health decreased to 1000. If his barrier is taking damage it will rapidly fill up the fuel bar.
-abilitis’ cooldowns removed.
-Firestrike will use 25% fuel.
-Charge will use all of the fuel bar.
Here’s the link if you want to see my other suggestions:

Tanks are not defensive shields setting up the rest of the team to get kills by being damage sponges.
They are offensive brawlers looking to engage and get kills
Winston just doesn’t work as a hero if he can’t nano engage and kill people
Rein with no hammer damage has negative impact on the outcome of the match given that the damage of his hammer plays a key role in how rein takes space.
It’s very hard to enforce the space in front of you if the enemy team can’t just walk at you with no fear since you have a pool noodle

What if we told you that giving tank players more agency doesn’t remove teamwork aspects? And instead it would just be limiting players to even less playstyles AND create a dependency on teammates. Games would be determined more by matchmaker RNG than by independent performance which would drop players from this game left and right.

It’s been overstated that the Dr on tanks needs re looked at.
But I would also like to remind people how much they whined about tanks being too strong.

This change will force people not to play tank.
Tanks are just going to be ignored by the dps if they can’t contribute damage. May as well just not be in the match.

team base is fine but i can see people really want to be the killers in the game (dps). no one wants to be the punch bag lol and a lot of people gravitate “away” from the tank role because of this especially if they hit like wet noodles.
maybe brawl tanks is the way?
