The problem is that you’re defining “not serious” as not giving any consideration to winning or losing.
Many of us consider “not serious” as trying to win, but not screaming at each other if we don’t.
You could fit the Grand Canyon in between those two standards. And that’s the problem. Most of us who primarily play QP do so because we don’t want the toxicity that goes along with people treating it like it’s life & death. But we still want to play the game and win as much as we can.
Instead, we get stuck with the “happy fun time” crowd who think QP means that even the slightest interest in winning makes someone a “tryhard”.
Personally I would love to play comp but sometimes my game crashes. Or my internet connection either lags badly/dies. (the only ISP in my area has been F’d from tech issues for almost a year) So I don’t play comp because I don’t want to be the cause of other people losing SR. If my internet was stable again I would play cause the game crashing isn’t that big a deal cause it rarely happens. But my lazy ISP has yet to return full/normal service in my area.
So I’m stuck in QP playing with 5-6 DPS sometimes and it’s like taking an ice pick between the eyes. When I say 6 DPS I play DPS sometimes to try for an achievement and the rest of the team decides to go DPS after I lock in. I’ve been trying to get Zenyatta’s rapid discord for pretty much my entire 41 hours on him. So sometimes I take a break and try achievements on other heroes. I’ve already got most of the achievements for Support and Tank except for the difficult ones.
I really don’t get why people are so upset over the state of QP. QP in any game has always been a meme fest. Just look at TF2’s QP, most people don’t care if their team has 6 snipers, they just play for fun.
Why grief a game mode you don’t want to play, rather than just queueing the game mode you DO want to play?
It just sounds like you’re pouting about getting killed too much in Death Match (where everyone plays DPS or Hog) and just want to play against an enemy team that has some squishy supports for you to get sick genji ults on.
Gosh you are so selfish … I mean, everyone should learn to flex some. I would say it’s a toss up - if you really are committed to comp, then you should flex when you can to get used to adapting for your team. OTOH, you do need to sometimes focus down on a character and currently only QP gives you this option as training against AI’s frankly is pointless after about 5 matches to get the timings down. I would say if you don’t want to flex, then the LFG is actually more for you at that point, and regular non-LFG QP is where you need to flex most…
QP is inbetween a rock and a hard place. You RARELY get a good matchup because it’s where people go to practice heros and mess around. But it’s hard to practice heros whenever one is just messing around.
When your team has 2 dps, 2 tanks, one healer and expect you to be the final healer, you MIGHT want to respect your team’s decision. Quickplay or not, people don’t play to lose. they play to win.
But i’m with you, if your team has 4 dps and ask you to be the healer. Go ahead and pick whatever you want if that’s the case.
It’s weird because everyone assumes that lower ranks get teams of all dps when really everyone thinks 2/2/2 is the only viable comp, and if you don’t do that everyone assumes your teams lost and they start saying gg before the match has started
