Tired of over performing and still losing

If a game is causing you this much stress… Don’t play. Go play something else, people aren’t always going to play up to your standards and it’s also just a game.

Then don’t play a team based game? Or find friends?

Frankly if you are getting that much healing done it’s because the other team isn’t dying. Might be time to consider trying to help your team pick off some dps/support instead of going healbot mode. Ultimately that healer with half your healing, but 2 solo skills and half a dozen extra elims is doing more to win the round.

Just saying.

…I didn’t say you couldn’t lose games you performed well in but if it’s happening a lot people need to stop blaming others and reflect on their own play…  :upside_down_face:

Focus on countering enemy’s win condition and guaranteeing your own. Supports are very good at that.

For example, most of time enemy’s win condition is going to be Genji blade, to which you, as a support, can respond by saving Lucio’s beat or Zen’s trans.

About your win conditions; say, you have a Reaper, then you could go Kiriko and make sure you support him when he’s flanking the enemy, throw suzu when he’s ulting etc.

You can pump 30k healing in a game, but it won’t matter if every time their Genji ults, you just lose, and every time your Reaper goes in, he gets focused while you’re healing your tank or just spamming from afar.

i double my other supports healing every game without fail get minimum most dmg at least 20-30 eliminations as lucio but 99% of dps players are useless cant get through placements without every game at least one usually both dps just being trash on both teams you just hope you get the better team if you dont game over wasted your time people just jump into ranked with no clue what they are doing you cant carry these monkeys

That is the way it goes with OW blaming. DPS players complain about no tanking and no support. Tank players complain about no DPS and no support. Supports complain about no tanking or DPS.

If you go back and look at your replays, you would see all kinds of mistakes you made. If you had made the right move instead, you would have won the fight. If you can find even one mistake in a replay, then you didn’t do well enough because that one mistake might have been the difference.

A few times? Ok. Over and over? That’s on you.

And supports should do the healing. Yet still you’d heal yourself as Roadhog and Soldier and look for health packs as every other hero.

Guess what? Overwatch is a bit more complex.

You can play one-dimensionally if you want to. But don’t complain that you keep losing, then.

healing bad teammates only brings so far. Very often, healing people who feed only prolongs the inevitable. I recomment swapping to a support that can clutch with something other than healing, if your team is weak. E.g. Ana can nano a person who at that point can walk in 1v5, or Zen can get kills on his own. I’d say below masters, 95% of games are winnable if you can flex to ALL supports (probably it’s enough to flex to like 5 of them, since you never NEED a Mercy, Kiriko, Lucio etc.).

This is usually the case in arcade. The team that has the most tanks will win against the ones with dps instead because you can’t heal a team that instantly dies with every fight. The tank team will always outlast them in the end. Nanoblade? Very cute but you’re just tickling them if they don’t have any 200 HP heroes besides healers you genius and worthless Genji.

Im surprised no one asked for replay codes of those “unwinnable” matches. We know they exist, but they are generally an exception. Generally something happened and yes, sometimes its because of the way the Supports played.

Because god forbid they do something wrong.

the reason people never give alternatives is because they know just enough that they can see the support is playing poorly but not why the support is playing poorly.

the VERY simple answer is that a supports job is to “support” a team, not tunnel heal…

but what does that mean?

it means they use there cooldowns in a way that can win team fights. for instance while playing ana, using nade on yourself might sound like a good idea but if you can get a good anti on the enemy tank your team can easily win that engagement basically for free.

it also means the player knows who to prioritize on a match to match basis. sometimes it’ll be the tank, other times it might be a dps or your fellow support thats being focused a bit too much.

on top of that you also have to look into dealing SOME dmg as that can be a deciding factor, some supports are better at it then others. but it requires a person to have very good gamesense so they can know exactly when to heal vs when to dps.

you want to keep them alive but you also have to recognize a moment where you might be able to finish off a low hp target.

you have to look at team fights on a large scale. sometimes your team is going to feed but they will eventually make a good play, so if you are playing well the entire time you are doing better then the enemy team and will usually win.

if all your doing is tunnel vision healing then your never going to climb because support is alot more then a heal bot.

I am legit speechless, people playing the game completely wrong and at bronze level, then wonder why they are falling down there…

A healbot is like a rein shieldbot, providing literally nothing other than useless raw numbers…

Its not, its just dependent on the length of the game. Spamming heals take literally 0 skill.

Sometimes you don’t have a choice but to heal Bot, as you say, I play Mercy and Lucio a lot, sometimes Moira and Zen, but it really depends on the team makeup. If the team is getting steamrolled, all you can do (as mercy more than any of the others) is heal.
