I believe Jeff has said that they’d sooner make a Limited Mystery Heroes rather than change how the current one works
Mystery heroes is called that for a reason, one game you get 4 Mercies the next comp might be 2/2/2.
The only real problem is losing all ult charge even if you respawn as the same hero
I agree. I played a game against Orisa, Bastion, and THREE MOIRAS. (I don’t remember the 6th.) they were the only one who died.)
Or just remove Mystery Hero from the arcade honestly.
Thats the only thing the game doesn’t do anymore ( unless you suicide ) there is a 0% chance of respawning as the same hero without killing yourself.
I like how they created a balanced form of mystery heroes… and never implemented it.
They don’t even need to balance it, I don’t need 222 MH, I just would like to not have to try and kill things against 2 Baptistes with their lamps, or double Mercy Rezing everything, or Double Orisa making shield break impossible, or double Sombra making playing actually unpleasant.
I doubt I’ll ever bother with MH again once QPC hits. I’ll miss it a little, but there are just so many terrible unwinnable games in MH right now.
Maybe because … it didn’t work. It didn’t suit what made MH the only arcade permanent mode.
Everyone is talking about taking out a massive part of what makes up MH. I hope bliz don’t change a single damn thing about it.
which is a mistake unfortunately
I prefer duplicates as it is part of the fun and mystery.
Yes, please, please, please remove duplicates from Mystery Heroes.
Personally I do not find it very fun… Or mysterious. The mystery is how anyone could find it fun.
I get to play all the heroes on the roster. Which hero I may potentially respawn as is not limited by which heroes my teammates have spawned as. That’s important. You may not think so, but I and others do. I hope that clears up the mystery for you.
NO, we do not need restrictions in MH.
If there are so many people who want borring limitation MH than create it in workshop and those people will love you.
I’m in agreement with Ploute. Duplicates (triplets, etc.) are a pain and not much fun to go against or even have on one’s team. There are enough heroes to select from where dups could be ruled out. It’s not about winning or losing, it’s about the play. Best games played were 99/99 brawls. Dups make the game lopsided.
I agree that the “mystery” part would be dulled a bit by preventing duplicates from appearing, but I also think that duplicates are to blame for a lot of the situations that make you switch to another game type when a MH match is over.
I think preventing duplicates would make the gamemode more reliably fun, even if it does take some of the mystery out of it.
Just play QP if you don’t want doubles. Current QP will be an arcade mode.
I’ve seen multiple things by Jeff, either in videos or forum post, saying that they don’t really want to put too much structure in Mystery Heroes. The reason being is it removes the point of the game. If you start forcing hero limits, where does it end? are you going to force 222 as well? At some point, you are going to lose what the core game mode is. It’s insane amount of RNG is the appeal for a lot of people.
Personally, I feel much the same with total Mayhem as well. If we start limiting what Heroes like Sombra and doomfist can do, then where does it end? The only hero that needed to be worked at was Ana, and that’s because her sleep Dart was actually timing people out of the game.
But, the name of it is total Mayhem, so it should be total Mayhem. Same with Mystery Heroes. The hero that you get and your teammates get should be a mystery. Regardless if you have the hero on your team already, or not
Then would QP classic already make MH a ghost town? You know, considering it’s been this way for years.
I think not having 5 moiras is a pretty good line to end it at.
