Seems like a good alternative to Overwatch, aesthetically quite similar to TF2. Looks like a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and being third person might have a lot of monetisation potential.
Maybe Overwatch should bring the Arcade mode back. Been many years since I played on Ayutthaya.
It’s a capture the flag type of thing but with big maps. First thing I noticed compared to Overwatch is base movement speed seems a lot faster. What’s interesting is that it’s not free to play which means it might attract a more mature playerbase.
If it gets popular enough, the budget Windows PC segment is basically cooked. Which is what game devs target as their baseline. So big picture is if it kicks off then Windows gaming is dead and Mac gaming takes over without breaking a sweat. Endgame? Everything becomes a Mac or runs on some form of Apple Silicon. Even your fridge.
Windows gaming will never truly be dead lol. Macs aren’t good for gaming. There incredible at everything else like work and school. But it when it comes to gaming it’s lacking.
What’s also holding the Mac back is the porting situation. The amount of effort to port to Mac out ways the amount of people that will even play it.
Well, we’ve gotten a host of huge triple A titles like Crimson Desert on the Mac. Even Overwatch works now with the latest Crossover. And with GameSir developing their own Proton-like called GameHub, it’s looking bright for the future.
If we can already run the biggest games fairly well through multiple real-time translation layers then actual ports should be child’s play and run like butter.
For a company like Microsoft it would be literal peanuts to port OW over. But we all know why they don’t do it, and it’s not because of technical feasibility or profitability reasons.
