Thoughts on tanks now?

This is how I feel too. It wasn’t a tank buff. It was a tank nerf that everyone is pretending was a tank buff. It buffed a couple specific tanks but nerfed others and it feels bad to me. I would like them to just undo it.

This myth that tank is the most impactful role is hysterical. I’d say DPS currently is and it’s not even close

give resource bars to caduceus staff beams
give resource bar to moira’s purple succ
give pharah real recoil from firing ROCKETS and precision nerf
prevent orisa from using abilities during fortify

doing that, the tank player population will increase a lot, 99,99999% sure.

Tanks are more powerful. This is a fact. Go ask the people that designed the game if you’re that dense. They’re only more powerful though if you actually have a team that plays as a team. If you don’t help your tank in a team game. Yea, they’re going to look weak. Any tank will murder any non tank in this game in a duel(generally, im sure there are exceptions)

Give me a tank with a revolver or bow and I won’t complain tbh.

I’m starting to feel like the whole tank-dps-support categories was a mistake as each one does something the other hate.

That is what makes this game beautiful. The more hatred we feel for one another, the better designed the game is.

Everyone is praising Marvel Rivals, but the fact that barely anyone is complaining about tanks or supports in that game lowkey showcases that DPS is the only role worth playing.

Just my opinion. We shall see. It is still early days.

Basically you have to sit around and do nothing as tank until the enemies abilities are on CD to get your turn to have any impact.

The devs should have reverted this patch as fast as they did 35% ironclad Bastion

Most victories / losses still depend on the solo tank, sadly.

If they’re hardcountered by the enemy’s tank hero and refuse to switch, it’s very hard to have a good team-based experience.

I’m at a point where I wouldn’t mind the tank role being reworked for all of the tank heroes to become DPS heroes :man_shrugging:

Ahhh I think I misread what you were saying. Yeah we agree then. Tanks require follow up from DPS or they look useless. Tanks can’t do it all by themselves is what I was implying. I play a lot of ball and I have games where I get little to no follow up and it feels like I’m being slept and hindered all for nothing. Nothing sucks more than having someone down to 30HP but you’re the only person there and have to flee

I mean this goes both ways. The tank being countered his teammates could counter the enemy tank too. Nothing sucks more than being countered as a tank while the enemy tank gets to do whatever in the hell they want

The game became more of a moba shooter ever since goats, now there is no hero shooting anymore instead you dps/heal tanks, build ults and press q to win rinse and repeat. Now tanks are raid bosses, and bullets are bigger so even more moba garbage making the game even more skilless.

As a general statement, my comment is 100% true.

8/12 tanks deal less damage, 2/12 tanks deal the same damage, 2/12 tanks deal more damage.

66% of tanks deal less damage, and only 16% of tanks deal more damage. So as a general statement, across the entire tank roster, tanks deal less damage into armor.

However, tanks accounting for 1/5 of the heroes on the enemy team, the majority of damage that tanks take is always going to be from every role except tank. Being generous, maybe 30% of the damage a tank takes each round is from the other tank.

But across the rest of the roster, only 21% of heroes do less damage into new armor–79% deal more damage into new armor. So even if tanks account for 30% of incoming damage, that still means that the huge ratio of the rest of the cast dealing more damage into armor means that, as a general statement, tanks are taking more damage than before.

Looking at the situation holistically (which I shouldn’t have to specify that I’m doing when I make a statement like “tanks deal less damage”, but whatever), across the entire tank role, tanks now TAKE more damage and DEAL less damage into armor.

Actually from what I played the Tanks felt great. One of them was pretty bad besides on a specific map, but they already buffed the character for the upcoming beta. I’m pretty content tbh.

Tanks are always going to suffer being the most polarizing role, one match you’re feeling like an absolute unit running over everyone.
Next Match you’re completely helpless.

it depends heavily on whether or not The enemy team is going to properly counterpick.

and whether or not the supports got your back.

and while that can apply to other roles, the big difference is you can’t really swap to one character to avoid the counterpick since they’ll often be times where there’s no good option or you aren’t experienced with the good option.
Enemy team goes Ana, Sombra and Mauga.
Welp better pick or orisa or you lose. can’t play Orisa well too bad should’ve learned how to play every tank before queing up.

No as a general statement your comment is only partially true that’s exactly why I’m telling you it’s a weird take to make the blanket statement you made lol

You go through all this work to clarify the actual math when you could’ve just said “some tanks deal/take more damage in some situations and less in others” instead of the nonsense you initially said

Could have saved yourself a lot of typing by just making a correct statement to begin with
