Thoughts on Limit 2

I think there are specific situations where that’s wrong. For example I swapped from off-tank to Mei on Meka Base and we absolutely dominated the map.

But as a general rule of thumb yeah I think you’re right.

To be clear, I don’t think Limit 2 is the answer moving forward, but I do think there is important information to learn from the experiment.

If anything it’s convinced me even more that 6v6 needs to come back.

I played a few matches as well and ended up with a solo in all roles at least once (sometimes I was the solo).
I’d say that solo healing was the toughest, but doable. Moira and Bap felt good, but Ana gets dove super easily and certain maps and team comps don’t help. It definitely helps when a tank or dps has sustain or high survivability.

Mauga, Queen, Hog, Soldier, Mei, Venture, and Reaper are good picks if you have solo supports.

I loved being able to swap roles and it led to some victories. Imo it’s a great in-between…though I will miss some fun troll comps like all support.

They’re not the same though. The change of soft limits could be the sugar thet turns lemon water into lemonade. Now they just need to find some ice (cough1extraplayercough)

Peeling in 5v5 is kind of a hero specific sort of a deal, certain heroes are way better at doing that over the others. Zarya / D,va / Brig / Moria/ Mei / Torb is a good example as they are basically made for that exact scenario.

While specifically counter picking around the hero in question works to.

That won’t be possible with min 1.

Oh, whoops. 312, then, I guess? I’d still rather just stick a two tank limit in.

There have been too many times in 5v5 role queue where the enemy tank just ignores me no matter what I do and just walks at one of my healers.

I just watch helplessly while I pour damage into them as they calmly kill my healer. Granted I can usually punish them after the fact, but if the rest of their team was smart they’ll collapse on us after seeing me abandon the frontline. From that point on my DPS need to be hitting shots, which is far from a guarantee. I do what I can when I can but I feel like a bystander a lot of the time.

I’ve tried everything. I’m just not controlling space as a solo tank, regardless of utility or counterpicking.

So far, in Limit 2, I feel like I’m finally controlling space again. I can punish those who disrespect my space and better challenge opponent’s space with the second tank.

If I were to summarize the feelings, OW2 role queue tanking sometimes feels like I’m a kid slamming two toys together, whereas Limit 2 tanking feels more like the dynamic chess match I remember and love from OW1. That’s not too say OW2 tanking is devoid of strategy, it’s just not as robust or interesting to engage with.

solo support in this mode is so awful because you literally cannot outheal 2 dps passive alone
