In exchange for damage halving when it hits a surface. So spam is heavily punished whereas players who can consistently aim his primary are rewarded.
It low ranks it would be a huge nerf.
Forcing people to have to aim is a good thing.
Next they’ll make his grenades actually consistent, because let’s face it., Something exploding immediately when touching a human but being able to bounce off walls without exploding doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense now, does it?
What do you mean a huge nerf? it wouldn’t be a “huge” nerf. It’d be a nerf to the random grenades that doesn’t directly hit but if you do get randomly hit by a direct hit amongst all those random shots you’d get deleted just the same.
I’d suggest a rework cuz any buffs or nerfs have huge consequences for high and low rank in a totally different way.
It’s mostly a junkrat design problem. He’s hard to balance.
You arent playing against Junks who are able to consistently hit directs on squishies. You’re playing against spamrats and their damage would be significantly lower.

Consistent in contrast to what? Would you say you do more direct hits than you do misses? If you say you do and the Pro’s also do it. What would a direct damage boost do to the game?
Realistically for me I’d say you don’t hit direct hits consistently, well you might only if you totally ignore all the misses, unseen splashes, unseen direct hits etc you do.
There’s not a single chance those types of hits aint in literally every match you play as Junkrat.
I didn’t say he wasn’t good. It was a nice air hit on the clip. I’m simply saying of all the Characters in the game, Junkrat is the hero with the easiest access to undeserved kills. Not most of the time, but there are even unseen/unintentional kills. Which are the worst kind… especially if it’s competitive mode.
I’m glad he got nerfed. I hope they nerf him again tbh.

I’d say it’s easier to dodge the grenades than dodging the mines. None of them however are easy to dodge. Especially when nither the junkrat nor the victim has a clue there is a grenade on the way towards you.
Nerf = He becomes worse in the competitive scene in high rank but better in low rank.
Buff = He becomes better in the competitive scene in high rank but worse in low rank.
How you gonna balance a Character designed this way?
Low risk one-shot combo. Remind you of anyone starting with “W” and ending with “dow”?
Where’s the nerf or total rework of that one?
At least Widow requires pinpoint aim. Junkrat’s double tap required much less precision, even if he did have to put himself at more risk for it. Junkrat’s two-tap still exists, anyway, it just requires more aim to pull off than it did before.

There is definitely that case with him IMO, a lot of players are simply having trouble countering him at the moment because they’re not used to playing him. In QP all I do is select bastion if I’m damage and just nuke his health bar. But I also see the argument that his survivability is a bit too high at the moment. I’m seeing matches in ranked where he’ll only die 3-4 times in a near 30 minute match.
If anything they simply just need to reduce how much HP he gains from adaptive shields, as it currently stands he can get a total of 1300hp(600 overhealth) in total from a perfect use of adaptive shields which is kind of ridiculous.
Widow can be at the end of the world and still wreck the whole enemy team, Junk need to go into their entire team to do the same. “At least Widow”, No…
If this season ends up being a pain it’ll be because of ball getting gross buffs. Though I still don’t think him being a menace is anything close to the week God fist got to exist along side Tracer’s gross damage.
