This really put this game in perspective

As it has been mentionned in the thread ; OW characters are made from scratch and the skins too whereas MR heroes have already tons of concept art already printed.
I couldn’t tell how much it costs for OW devs to fill a BP.
Some 3D models can take several weeks to get put into a game, even more if it asks for particle effects and new animations.

So I can’t tell if OW2 BP is a good deal or not. For what I remember it was a better deal than Fortnite BP (for what I remember, it has been years since I looked up Fortnite prices).

I never said that. You were saying you bought BP without being able to compete it. So its not about “liking it” but about avoiding the feel of getting robbed to pay for something you can’t have.

I have no idea why you bring out EA. I guess you wanna mean they keep releasing games even if nobody buys it ?
But do you take a look at sales numbers before saying nobody buys it ?.. Or you’re just assuming you and maybe your surroundings didn’t buy so it must be enough ?

Well its the same for OW BP. If too few people buy it, prices and content of future BP will change. If there’s no change, it means enough people still buys it, no matter what you think or believe.

But some people would still spend money on OW. Not because of the content they get, but just because they want to support the game… And that’s what I wrote : its up to each costumer to know if and why a game is worth their money and how much.
And if people in that case wouldn’t bother to compare BP from different games because they aren’t OW.

Hey man, I’m not going to argue with you. It seems like your mind is already made up. I just want to say one more thing: creating a product that actually caters to the consumers instead of the shareholders is always a better route to take. Maybe that’s one of the reasons so many Overwatch players have jumped ship. People have stayed for so long before (including me) because there weren’t any ‘real’ competitor until now. Just something to think about.

It just came out. I’m very bored of the maps already. MR really needs those maps. 10 skins in the BP is nice.

After playing multiple hours of MR with nearly every hero available, Im not very excited for the release of 4 more characters. But maybe just maybe there will be a hero I enjoy playing out of the 4 new ones. We’ll see thou.

Also, was not very excited about the Season 0 season content. It was Ok.

You think a Marvel game done in China for lower cost is built to please players and not shareholders…
Fantastic Four coming to the game same year than the movie.

In my already set-up mind, it feels so naive. But I might be wrong. Enjoy your game, no matter if its OW or MR.

Well to be fair S0 content was supposed to be half of what a season content would look like, some sort of a preview if you like. S1 will have 10 pages whereas each page will consists of a skin, portrait, victory pose, MVP highlight, a spray, Latice, and Units.

(that Van Helsing Wolverine looks sick though)

OW2 Launch vs MR Season 1:

3 heroes vs 4 heroes
4 maps vs. 3 maps
New core mode vs. New arcade mode

If Blizzard had this much content they’d be announcing OW3

Wait? really? That is amazing. It also implies the calculation is done client side, and that the server trusts that calculation is real, which is going to be a HUGE problem.

I’d have to check it to see for myself, because that is utterly wild if it is the case.

OH MY GOD IT IS REAL… THAT IS SO MESSED UP!!!

honestly the number of heroes and maps makes me even more confident in my theory that S1 = real launch and S0 was a glorified beta. There’s simply no way that’s sustainable every 3 months, especially when the game only launched with 7 maps to begin with. If they can whip out 3 maps in a month, they surely would have launched with more.

To clarify here the devs have already said they intend to continue to release maps at a steady rate, but specifically they’re going to aim to continue to release 2 heroes every season.

1 at the beginning, one half way through.

So basically every 6-7~ weeks rivals will be seeing a new hero for the foreseeable future.

We shall see, but unless netease is literally throwing waaaay more money than blizzard is at hero and map development, I dont see that as sustainable long term. Maybe they have enough content frontloaded to make it seem that way, but 8 heroes per year is a lot, unless their heroes are the most basic and generic reskinned copies of what they already have.

They literally just launched the game. It gets a pass for being unbalanced. They ARE nerfing Hawkeye/Hela and buffing Storm/Wolverine/Cap/Venom tho so they are pushing the game into a good direction at least. Unlike OW.

Buggy? So far there arent really a lot of, if any at all, bugs.

This is the actual issue, yes. The game is poorly optimized, and intentionally so. They pushed forward an update that disabled the way the players could optimize the game into running better without an optimization patch.

I never thought about it that way. I guess we get less skins overall, but the ones that do exist are generally of a higher quality and, well, you can actually see them.

As for not deserving the content… I believe you deserve this much content BECAUSE you were stuck playing Overwatch for so many years.

I honestly do not care what Blizzard does at this point. They can EoS if they want.

and to give the cherry on top: they from now on feature official stat tracking on their website. isnt that amazing something blizzard would never give players access too bc god forbid the players actually see the state of the game and can form educated opinions or make educated decisions.

Eh, Wolverine buff is WILD. Before Black Widow gets help? On top of releasing another DPS that is a glorified tank, I wonder why anyone in their right mind plays vanguard. He’s about to be the new ban meta.

To check out captain america thick thighs? Why else?

And to expand on this a smidgen:

In practice it really only effects 2 heroes, those being Dr Strange, who can get a good bit of mobility with his levitate ability,

And wolverine. He has a move where he gets a temporary increase in attack speed after using it. If he lands this on a tank, he can kill the tank before the buff ends with high enough frames (typically just at the end depending on how much “rage” he had built before hand), with “low frames” the buff will end and he’ll need a couple extra basic melees.

The difference is really only notable when you’re comparing around 30 to 60 fps. Above 60 frames on up to 2-300 frames the difference becomes next to non existent.

And for the “other” heroes it effects, such as star lord during his ult, the difference is literally 100s of a second in difference. (We’re literally talking like .05 of a second)

It’s also worth noting that the damage differences are related to the games predictive model - and its effects are exacerbated against dummies in the training room, the difference is even smaller when you’re in a live game playing against players also talking to a server.

Sadly these are all problems they’re having with the UE5 engine - but while it is odd/silly, and while these COULD “matter”, I wanna emphasize realistically - the differences are so small that they never will. You’re never going to consistently lose to a star lord “because man they have 200 fps and I only have 80!”.

Strange is the biggest one, and the devs already have a fix in the works for that.

Yeah thats basically the entire reason why Blizz keeps stats hidden and only parade them when they are conveninent.

They dont want the players having access to stats so they can debate the devs’ decisions and biases.

BW is fine. Her issue is that Hawkeye/Hela are OP and overdo her on the range damage role.

Personally, even if she is weak, I rather they keep BW like she is for at least a season more or so to see if she is actually weak OR if she was just overshadowed by HelaEye.

The devs already said they dont want a Widowmaker in Rivals.

Venomussy hits different. Also they are buffing the weaker vanguards too.

Don’t forget that NetEase is a Chinese company. One, they are throwing a lot of money at it. Two, the development of a Mr hero isn’t 1:1 to an overwatch hero. And three, labor is cheaper on top of that.
