I think it isn’t that different what OWL players or most people want. It’s Blizz who thinks very differently than most people, especially whey they designed a hero.
If you people really think the game is balanced around OWL, then why do you think it’ll change? If OWL goes, then they’ll just balance around contenders, tournaments, open divison, whatever the next highest is.
Agreed. Please come back when that happens. Lets raise overwatch casual player numbers again.
Make Casual Great Again
That will not be happening if Blizzard can get it right and change their focus to their biggest playerbase, Casual Gamers. If they missed this and screw it up with more competitive focus, well, it’ll definitely happen.
Haha, so much confident on the new leadership. It won’t matter much with the leadership change, IMO. These type of issue won’t be solved before the court proceedings is completed, and court battle can last a long time. So don’t expect the sponsors will be back anytime soon. Meanwhile, i don’t think OWL will last that long.
What the new leadership can do currently is to figure out how they can survive. And the correct way is to get loyal players to stay and keep building the hype for OW2.
This person knew what is the problem when balancing for OWL compared to balancing for the ladder. Kudos for you.
If you think they won’t try a more traditional way of esports if OWL dies I think you missed the point of this game. This game was made to be a competitive shooter. It has fun elements, but it is and was always far from casual. It might have been more casual when everyone was just starting to learn the game and made horrible missplays, but those days are gone and have been for a long time. From day 1 this game was advertised as an esports game and until OWL launched there were actually decent 3rd party events, orgs were excited to build their own teams for it. I wouldn’t be surprised if a shift from the path to pro system to something more generic and open would actually help, but it won’t affect the balancing that much, the game will remain top-down balanced
Exactly, one tier dies they’ll just go to the next highest.
Its easier to balance around a hero’s highest potential.
Gold-Plat 5 years ago is about bronze-silver now, players improve, and things that were problematic in those ranks would no longer be problematic as time goes on because the average player is becoming better. It’s pointless to balance around something thats a “problem” in mid to low elos because in a few months it wont even be one anymore on its own.
Setting aside the suspicions that OP started up this thread just to seek attention (which those suspicions are only heightened when taking into account OP’s choice of BTag and generic profile avatar)…
If the anti-OWL crowd honestly thinks that OWL going under means they will finally balance around plat-bronze, they are in for a MAJOR disappointment.
Yea, i dont like that ranged is godmode. Mcree, hanzo, ashe, soldier split second i play those i go up in rank like rocket.
Split second i start playing niche heroes, sym, torb , junk etc. Its just downhill.
You can just feel how much better/easier ranged is compared to other dps.
Without OWL there will be less incentive for balance changes. I’m pretty sure that the games that have E-sports scenes are the ones that get more balance changes.
What? Is this more people making up their own reality? If the game was balanced around OWL then Sombra would have been nerfed into the ground years ago.
