Sound point. I also doubt players would just settle for a solo experience in either.
Note: Payed DLC will have to do much more then what was presented at the archive seasonals.
To the thread: This topic is counter intuitive to the path the industry is taking. Dev and publishers are finally understanding that they shouldn’t split their communities to make a profit. Furthermore, Overwatch is built on multiplayer and it’s doubtful they will try to push into the single player experience with this title.
You don’t have news for me, you are selling your religion, nothing more, nothing less. But sorry, I already got one religion, I don’t need your new one, and as long as you got no hard proof for your statement, it is just that - selling a religion.
Come back when you got some hard proofs.
Yeah, there’s just no way to test more than one hero at once. It takes a long time as it is to integrate one hero into the pool and have people learn it well enough to really gauge its impact on the rest of the game. I can only imagine trying to handle multiples. It might be fun for casual players, but it’d be a nightmare for competitive ones.

Than you have no problem people wanting them to make a story expansion pack. You won’t need to buy it.
I do have a problem with it because I’d rather blizzard focus on balance and bug fixes.
If they make a full exp pack. They hire more team to do that. If it’s gonna be sold for $40.
They aint even doing a mode/map selection mode…
How could you ever expect mods…
DLC is vastly less profitable than endless microtransactions and gamble boxes, so no.
true PvE expansion is what ow needs imo
I think the Forum shoud st*u and be happy about all the free content
They’d have to release the maps for everyone, but new heroes they could essentially have all the heroes be locked if you don’t have the DLC.
you guys can’t handle brig and you want them to add like 5 new heroes at once? most of you would have a heart attack about your precious main not being untouchable or some nonsense…

Here’s the situation:
You have 5 new maps and 5 new heroes all locked up behind a pay wall. Some are willing to pay to get them, some are not.
Now the matchmaker has 2 options:
- Seperate those players because it’s fair. You can’t play a Comp game on a DLC map if you don’t own it. You also can’t use the new heroes. For someone that paid, if you want to play the maps and heroes on a Comp game the game will be forced to look for other 11 players with the DLC. If only one person doesn’t have the DLC, the maps and heroes will be locked for all others in that game. This means if you main a DLC hero a lot of the time you won’t be able to play him/her.
- Mesh the players. There would be no point in buying the maps because even if you don’t own it you can be put in a game in a DLC map if even one person in the lobby owns the DLC. The heroes could remain locked, but it would be unfair for someone to be able to use 5 heroes that others couldn’t in a game. What if there was a really good counterpick to an annoying hero within those 5 DLC heroes?
But I said that I like the lore DLC idea.
It survived because it is F2P, has community maps/mod/servers and casual play is what quick play should be on Overwatch - relaxing, fun.
And the Phlogistinator - no airblast - now is really easy to counter. A pyro who uses it constantly is either a newbie, because otherwise he would use something which has airblast, or just nostalgic. Either way, easy kill.
I don’t think that was the business model for this one… but one can dream.
DLC Story modes would be nice.

The second blizzard starts releasing heroes for money, the game is over. Everyone hates pay to win, except the people who pay to win. So when the game starts revolving around a new hero who only a few have access to, it’s just over.

It’s best if devs find other ways to make their money (which they are). One day it should be that paid dlc’s are for Single Player titles while other methods are employed for Multiplayer.
Note: The aspiration is that devs get their money without breaking player immersion.
They’ll never do paid DLC because they said they didn’t want to split the community apart with purchasable content. That and we don’t need DLC the devs just need to do their jobs. They spent too much time and money pushing OWL and while the rest of us get to sit around waiting for balance changes/reworks, bug fixes, and new content.
Honestly, at this rate, I’d pay for something to keep this game going along in order to keep it refreshing. I want different events, not just 4 months apart but bi-weekly if they could. We NEED new cosmetics to be viable way more often, and a story mode is needed since the story is not moving along. We are halfway through the year a and all we got was 1 comic and 1 cinematic. Sad.
If it’s money they need for this, then make it DLC or an expansion because everything is far too slow. They need to be more exciting.
I get it.
They have a “schedule”
Well sorry, but it’s clearly not working and it’s taking far too long. Not hard to see most aren’t happy with the rate of their released content, if any. You gotta hire more people? THEN HIRE THEM. Come on this isn’t rocket science. They are too cheap to want to do anything aside from wasting most of the funds to the OWL which was a huuuuuge mistake in my eyes.
Sorry if I’m coming across as rude, but I’m getting a bit irritated now.
