Sooo I lost all my games 12 times in a row ± 3 weeks ago - said welp ok bye OW, I’m going on vacation anyway.
Had a great rest for 2 weeks, got back - lost another 6 in a row, won 1 and after that lost another 9 games in a row.
Of course some were close ones, rest were stomps.
So now my WR is around 39% this season :с

If you’re struggling, I highly recommend the Overwatch University reddit. They offer great tips and advice based off footage.
Here there’s a risk of people spouting rubbish such as “it’s a forced loss rate” etc. Not everyone is like that, but it’s a weekend and the trolls are out
I think it’s Activision’s “skill based matchmaking” legit making lobbies that are decided before the game even starts. It’s to give you a win every other, or else all losses and all wins. or else 50/50 exactly. It’s obvious addiction cycle, games font feel remotely the same as they did in 2020. Activision is historically up there with EA as the most evil companies of all time. and the win percentages are all between 45% and 55% no matter the ban or pick rate. go look
Thank you for proving my point. spouting absolute garbage. They’re after advice on gameplay-not your conspiracy BS.
No wonder people prefer Reddit when there’s people of your ilk here
your advice was legit go to reddit. we are not the same.
Welp I’m playing only QP, so the lobbies are quuuuuiiiiite random, and players are also
Maybe slightly other rules than it would be in comp, and advices
When I have horrible matches first thing I’m starting prioritizing is how to keep myself alive, so…after that I can help another teammate, cause u know If I’m dead I can’t help anyone x)
Maybe I’m just out of that luck and just dodging master players in my team

ah quick play. Yeah quick play the matchmaking is VERY wide-as in you’ll get GM’s playing against diamonds, it’s REALLY wide. It’s horrible.
To be honest it’s why I NEVER go into QP anymore, the game quality is terrible due to the matchmaking. But at the same time, Overwatch University is still worth a visit for the review of footage, there’s some really cool and intelligent peeps over there.
I used to use QP to warm up for ranked-now I use 6v6 for warmups, and your experience is why to be honest.
So it’s more than likely it’s not your gameplay but the matchmaking, but at the same it’s still worth heading to that subreddit.
The game is interesting. I started playing about a month ago and ready to drop it. Matchmaker is gaslighting players on the daily.
Maybe you should stay out of something you know nothing about. I know who you are, and what you’re trying to do via the background of your alt forum account.
I dont know alot about the game I’ll admit. But take your tinfoil hat and get out the basement.
Honestly at that many losses, it is partially a curse, because there will be a couple games at some point where you win without even doing anything.
You know, what if I say that in all my games ( yep even qp) if I feel that I’m doing poor or dying fast after 2 mins /1st point - I switch to my main, or sometimes hard-counters ( aka Moira to survive, Illari, Bap, Ram, Domina, Sigma, Ash, Junk, Torb ect.). That’s what I did and still lost 96% ![]()
But at least I finally won last 3 games! So…it’s gonna be betetr after all right?
Right?..
Im guessing you are playing 5v5 QP? I played this mode a few weeks ago, never been stomped so many times in OW. I swear the MM is broken in 5v5 QP…
Nah I actually play mainly 6v6
Main reason - I like to have ability to swap mid game to different role ( if we lack shield or absorb, need heal+dps ( bap) , more dmg to break shields, cleance, zen against mauga ect.)
Or mystery heroes, its the only mode where i have 35% winrate and I don’t blame anyone exept random xd
OW doesnt hate you specifically.. it hates us all equally. OW feels like a slot machine where you can dance on the point and still win or you play out of your mind and still get stomped. But to the OW devs the matchmaker is working as intended.
I wouldn’t trust them, they are also known to do swatting. So take your chances.
This happens. You just have to focus on the gameplay experience and not the ranking per se. I personally have always advocated for a ”hide rank up screen” option. It’s too much of a mood regular for the average player to deal with. In the grand scheme of things a loss streak is not something noteworthy, but at the moment you experience it things can truly feel awful.
I also made my own research on the matter of stomps vs balanced games. I played 100 games and made notes about their matchmaking quality. I found that around 20% of them were stomps and a couple unbalanced, both for my own team and the enemy team. The majority however felt either slightly balanced or greatly balanced. Ever since I discovered this I don’t care much about loss streaks. The most important thing is that it feels balanced, and for the most part it does. At least I’m convinced this is the case.
Yeah…that’s kinda the only thing that’s left after those - or you stop and do something else, or you focus on something else ingame
How I cope with that - I just start to write my losing streak in chat and see how people react - someone tell that I’m just bad get gud, some are astonished if I’m telling around 15± matches in a row, some are telling they are on the same boat rn
The amount of research you’ve clearly put into matchmaking, along with that completely unbiased and rigorously scientific approach, really paints the full picture of how OW matchmaking works. Thanks for clearing it up. I can finally stop wondering.
I think it’s better to accept the truth to focus on getting better instead of blaming the system is broken. You are probably on the lower spectrum of the average skill level of the playerbase. So your going to lose a lot till the MMR will able to calibrate you till where you belong. Most players are around high silver/gold/plat/low diamond. It’s gonna be tough and it’s an old game where most people have played it for a long time. I’m pretty sure some one who is around master/gm will win most of his QP games like 60-80%.
