This game is turning into "Seagull says"

Right now it’s Zarya Rein Brig which is considered best front line, except that isn’t really reflected in pick rates as Brig is only 4th most picked support. Rein earthshatter combines with almost anything. Then when that is down Grav is up which also combos with almost anything. Meaning you can have two teamwipe ults ready at all times from your TANKS. No hanzo needed. Balance will always be a bit jumpy to this to that, but meta isn’t done because it’s optimal necessarily it’s often done because it’s bandwagon. GOATS appeared out of nowhere for example, if meta is always optimal then ppl would have used it before then.

Ah yes, my opinion isn’t my own because someone else owns it legally.

Are you implying the forums weren’t already flooded with anti Brig and Doom threads?

Mhmm. Doom and Brig, ‘‘no one complaining about’’.
And of course more people are going to express their opinion on something when someone who will be heard shares it. It’s a form of patriotism.

I don’t see a problem here.
The devs had to rework her, but did a poor job. That’s not the community’s fault. We were not in control of the rework. All we can do now is provide feedback on said rework, and propose ideas to expand on her rework. Mass res was bad for the game, and it’s not coming back.

I think this about virtually every youtube/twitch personality. Almost everything they say only applies at their level of the game (which is not always healthy for the whole game) or comes from their perspective as a Genji/Mercy/Törbjörñ main. That stuff isn’t always the most accurate evaluation of the situation. Furthermore just because they’re good at the game their word is considered law. They aren’t game devs, they may not be particularly smart, they aren’t anything besides a video game player and yet people think their opinion steers the ship.

I would genuinely love a section of the forum specifically for talking about these online stars. Threads started about them are, without fail, the most banal and shallow threads on the forum. Make a cage for these things and keep them there I say. If I go to the grave never hearing about Seagul or that GM Mercy lady again, I will die happy.

Defence matrix, consistent healing, any kind of barrier or wall,… all counter Tac Visor. To say nothing of Solider still has to position himself properly or just die instantly. Tac Visor has always been a better clean up ultimate than a “Press Q for huge value” ability.

People moan about Barrage and Deadeye being rubbish but honestly they’re great examples of good DPS ultimates, they are high-risk VERY high reward.

I agree with Seagulls points about ultimates having too big an influence on fights because many of them lack counterplay that’s not another ultimate. I don’t think this applies to that many ultimates. Dragonblade, Earthshatter and EMP and to a lesser extent Primal Rage (I’d rather it didn’t instantly refresh his HP to 1000 but just have him 500HP). The Meteor Strike nerfs are an excellent example of this: Doomfist can get a kill easily but it’s not guaranteed at all anymore. Transcendence and Sound Barrier are both perhaps too strong in their current incarnations but they have to be to counter other ultimates. Ultimates like Minefield, Bob, Molten Core, Photon Barrier, Coalescence, Valkyrie, Blizzard, Whole Hog and Pulse Bomb are what I hope to see more of.

Ults that are easy to use, and can often swing fights are part of the foundation of Overwatch as a game.

If someone doesn’t like such a huge part of Overwatch’s design, maybe they don’t like Overwatch itself and would be happier playing a different game.

And the balance is a mess Because

DPS can’t just kill tanks anymore.
DPS gets delete by ults so taking them is too risky.

It is just better to stack tanks and healers and wait for your ults to get some skills.

This extreme version of the game has more people looking at it and thinking…something is horribly wrong.

Like what changes do we make to the game to back to 2/2/2??

He’s a voice for the community.
Just like how people like Aria Rose and Stylosa are voices of the community.
They have a large follower base, and thus a larger reach than the average person.

The latter 2 i completely disagree with for the most part personally. But they’re still voices for the community.

This is a dangerous precedent though.

Giving one person infallible authority over an entire population is like letting California decide all of our elections.

If you’re looking for a serious debate using the pick apart the whole post one by one tactic to give the illusion of a stronger argument and to intentionally deflect the overall point of the whole post isn’t helping your case my doggie.

What are you even talking about?
The way i construct my posts has nothing to do with the context of my posts.

The game is balanced around the assumption that people are going to play one hero per team (no duplicates), and run a 2-2-2 comp.

We saw what no hero limits did to the game. It got fixed when the devs decided to enforce hero limits.

Now we’re seeing what no role limits is doing to the game. Maybe it’s time for the devs to do something about that, too.

Which is a VERY vaild point.

But if the game has reach a point where the meta is 3T/3S/0D and overwatch is not growing the way they want Blizzard may start to look are other ways to improve the game.

Like maybe they can fix it with some small tweaks but I don’t think the brig nerfs with stop Goats

lol nice it only took us like 12 seasons to find out this game is going downhill

They may speak on topics that a part of the community agrees with, but they in no way “represent” us as players on the whole. That’s why I say they are merely voices for a part of the community (specifically the part that agrees with their views). They merely represent their own views and ideas on the game, and have their own biases, in which we may or may not agree with. The amount of followers they have or favoritism they get from the staff doesn’t change that. They are still just players who are a part of the community, just like the rest of us.

What if and only if he’s the one being the parrot? He has the audience and influence to try and do something, unlike most of the community. He sees messages every single day about the things people do not like in the game.

At least he’s trying to make the game better in one way or another.

Don’t forget the reworks, he got Mercy ruined… er… “improved”.

The hell? He doesn’t even play Tracer, in fact he hates the hero.

He was talking about hard counters, wich means Not Switching = Losing/Throwing and he gave reasonable examples about good counter matchups that has to do with player knowledge.

Except it’s not? Changing ult charge rate is a WAY better fix than press Q to restart the fight. Rez as a mechanic doesn’t even seem to fit in OW, even in its current state.

And the enemy in question can take pretty much any non tank hero down with little effort, other than using a stun.

I watch Seagull often, he never complained about Brigitte like most of the community did afaik. Critics, yes. He even plays her from time to time. On the other side, Seagull is a “Tracist” and complains about her alot and if the theory here is true, the next nerf may be Tracer then, which I would be totaly fine with.

Basically the vibe I get from the Seagull posts is that people hate on him because they’re jealous, cus his voice is heard more than their voices.
