First of all, even if it was consensus, consensus itself has nothing to to with what is right or true, in fact, lowest common denominator is usually the result not some truth.
Second, he’s not even consensus, most people don’t care, don’t watch seagull, or even know who he is or read reddit or the forum, and glance over patch notes if they read them at all.
A big portion is relative, and the number of people that even watch streamers or youtubers is dwarfed by the number of people who play the game overall. People talking 20k as if it’s a big deal, when the playerbase is over 40 million. They are extremely vocal minority and that’s it. Just because they all squack what Seagull does, and Seagull squacks what others do doesn’t mean theres any truth value to it. Most the things I have seen is just blame shifting for losses, from mass rez to ult’s being too strong even though they aren’t, to LFG which is now abandoned after everyone clamored so much for it being the solution to all their losses. One day people will wake up and realize the reason they lost is cuz they just weren’t as good as the other team and get over themselves but I’m guessing that day isn’t coming any time soon.
I’m sure you thought some of them, or even aligned close enough to some of them, but if you’re saying you 100% agree with everything he says you kinda remove yourself as a critical thinker as you’re not being critical or thinking at all and what he has said isn’t so bland and objective it can’t be contested, quite the opposite, it’s heavily opinionated.
This person thinks that, because Seagul said it, it automatically means that it is his opinion and nobody could ever happen to agree with him. He legally owns that opinion now, and nobody else can. Despite getting so much media attention and praise for the video, and pre-existing examples of those same opinions.
there was no complains about ultimates before… only from mercy players (ult feels too unimpactful) and tracer (ult is garbo)… not that they were op and need to be tuned down to normal abilities.
Skill should be more important than what hero you picked, Heroes can be good against certain heroes but you shouldn’t be forced of a hero because of a pick in most cases.
Matches shouldn’t be decided by who has more Qs Ults are too strong
actually go back to the old forums and look at post leading up to ult charge time nerfs. Close to the beginning ults and frequency of them were talked about a lot.
I don’t care one way or another about him, tbh. What I care about is some streamer having such a say in game direction, especially when his opinions come from such shallow and selfish places. He didn’t like mass rez, well what about those that did? Then talking some false narrative that hide and rez was this great problem when top mercy players will tell you that hide and rez is a good way … to lose a game.
It was split at best, most the haters of mass rez I saw were like but mah reaper ult But of course, if you complain about Reaper’s ult it’s git gud newbs.
A 50/50 ratio is more than enough incentive to change something.
Hell, a 10/90 ratio can be enough depending on the actual issue.
A healer, letting her team mates die to pull off her ultimate.
Doesn’t that sound a bit weird? Hiding, waiting and letting your team mates die, and then pressing Q. It’s not even comparable to Reaper’s ult.
Admittedly, i don’t think Valk did Mercy much justice.
All that aside, you seem very emotional about this change in particular, but it wasn’t just Seagul complaining about Mass res. And he was not the reason they changed it. It was the community as a whole.
