It’s dying in the sense that… people who want to try at the game, and get screwed by mmr, will just leave. There’s better options for esports tbh. Another thing is newer players getting hammered because there’s no real separation of skill in any of the game modes. You make a new account, go in, get stomped by level 300s repeatedly, hate the game, quit. Blizzard gets to say another person joined the grand fight, and it all gets nicely covered up by people who defend this ridiculous system. Game itself is fine. The ranks are the problem. Not even Baguette, not even Hanzo. It’s the way such vastly different levels of players are all thrown into one pot. We can see clearly in OWL that Baguette wasn’t even oppressive before the nerf. Now… this isn’t considering new Hanzo, which she works well with, but… seriously, it’s more of the messed up environment creating false power differentials between characters. It’s the whole reason Hanzo even had scatter taken away in the first place.

the majority of the players are diamond or below…who gives a crap about the 1%?

Have you ever heard about ā€œspacebarā€ ???

Last time I checked, the devs made Brigitte to balance pro and top 500 play because Tracer had become unstoppable and needed a counter. The devs needed to make the counter easy because if it took skill Tracers would find a way to just outplay it, so we got Brigitte. The devs designed her for top 500, not Bronze.

Every season there’s a new broken hero (Season 10 there’s 2) that allows players to get from plat to GM without any improvement and I’m getting really sick of it. After every season these heroes are nerfed and then there’s a new one. These boosted players end up sitting around at 3800 ruining every game they’re in. That’s why there’s less GMs and masters every season. I can barely ever get full games of my own rank anymore because everyone is moving on to games with developers that care about their competitive community. I don’t believe that blizzard can’t see that hanzo and brigitte are ridiculous. They are just ignoring it like they did with junkrat.

I’ve made several new accounts and I get placed vs bots. If you’re good you’ll climb it’s not that complicated. You’re not going to be good at any game that you try for the first time.

Overwatch right now according to these threads:

ā€œI will fight… to my last breathā€ - Reinhardt

You are aware that Overwatch isn’t a pure FPS, right? That Rein, Winston and Mercy, who all came out at launch, do not require aim? That someone can belong in their rank without the need for amazing Widow play, cos they know how the game works and can play tactically? Or is this just a case of wanting to feel superior again?

I think that some streamers are leaving because if you pour as many hours as they do into a game, it can get stale no matter how good you are. Trying other popular games gives them something refreshing to do.

Brigitte. Is. Fine. If. You. Don’t. Run. Into. Her. Range.

If someone quit it’s his problem that he won’t be playing the best shooter ever.
