This community changed

Rather it got more people or not but i swear this community used to be a lot more nicer and more fun to talk to and even play with in 2016- mid 2018, i feel 2019 to now its just hate…

Pointing out the obvious is rather tiring isnt it?

I mean, there used to be more “hopefulness” previous to the content drought created by OW2 development.

Also previous to the Mercy forum spam, where the devs decided to communicate with the community less afterwards.

When you constantly burn your playerbase patch after patch with 0 content, radio silence, and a huge problem in alt accounts then ya I guess people become a little unhappy.

All in all blizz deserves it.

I mean most players are either unhappy or simply taking the game less seriously and therefore playing worse

The enjoyment factor of so many things in OW has gone down… Except for the friends we’ve made along the way. Love you, my forum buddies

I think that the majority of the decent players got fed up with throwers, leavers, toxicity etc. and just quit. So all thats left is majorly bad players with only a sprinkle of decent people still around. Notice how the quality of games has worsened over time, people just seem to be on average terrible nowadays than they used to

To add to this I have noticed people will only join during events get the skins they want and get their 9 wins for the week which is at tops maybe 2 hours of playing a week.

I think they are still holding out for OW2 but they just care about cosmetics and not the enjoyment of the game.

I don’t agree. The only thing that has pretty much changed is that a larger part of the community here is just less oblivious to the state of the game and the state of balance. I’ve seen players who spewed about 1500 replies of non-sense just naively enforcing their own subjective opinions about the game based on nothing but their own gameplay experience as a basis for it, suddenly make a post where they had their “Heureka!” -moment and started looking at things from an objective sense and finally understood how naive their previous statements have been

When a larger proportion of players know the state of the game, it leaves less room for players to make random statements without being called out for it. This of course in a more general sense might send a negative message to some, but it’s not from the forums community. It simply bounces off from them when someone comes here acting almighty and try to act like they know something when they’re making the same mistakes the other players made in the past. They’re the catalyst for the negativity here

But also we’re not in a good state of game at all. Tanks went from the best role in the game down to the worst role in the game and even though Ball has been the best tank in the game for how many months now(?) heroes like Mei are still rather unplayable. This just means that the literal counter economy is in shambles and it fosters extremely bad gameplay

I think it’s actually significantly less people, and the people left are just the ones that couldn’t give up the game when it became overly bad. But like everyone on my friends list hasn’t logged in for months to years at this point, it’s sad to see my best friend say ‘2 years’ under the inactive header =/ we had a lot of fun in the game but it just got too obnoxious for so many reasons and now no one wants to play it anymore.

Except us crabapples that are left, myself included. Which feels about right, everyone I run into in game is about as sour and horrible as I am.

If you kick a puppy it grows up mean.
The developers ruined this game, abandoned it and people are justifiably angry.

Brig ran off everyone, or so they would say. All of OW’s problems are due to Brig. Nothing else.

Yeah, basically. What it seems to me though is like ~ Activision let Blizzard launch OW and run it ‘their own way’ for the first few months, maybe year? Because the content and energy we got that first year was palpable, and good, and it was very invigorating, I remember it. Everyone was stoked.

Then Activision started to close their grip, firing people at Blizzard and taking over with memo’s from on high to start pinching pennies, and it all went downhill from there. So far I have not seen any uphill since.

2-2-2 made everyone more toxic with each role flaming each other more and more.

I only play for widow skins now

Well when people claim everything is toxic what do you expect. You treat people how you want to be treated, even if you perceive them being mean over time people tend to be nicer, its when people hold grudges or pass those grievances on that a community goes south.

Well, OP, reading the responses… I have to agree with you.

Shame. If we all eased off a little and stopped caring so much it might be fun for some people again.

But a lot of the people around here seem to have made OW their life.

No there wasn’t.

People were just as toxic prior to Nov 2019, if anything, this place was blowing up every day on a new issue and disagreement.

Because the only people who are left playing this game are the people who are burnt out from playing it so they hate it lol

Not sure if you mean console or PC but PC has been like this since after a few months of launch. I was lucky enough to get in the closed beta on the first round of invites and beta was soooo much more fun to play in. I don’t remember having anyone toxic to where I had to mute them or anything. Now, for about a year, I have turned off all coms/voice because every match has toxic people in it and I got tired of having to mute people every match.

Anyways, but yeah, all of Beta the small community was a blast. Even at launch since the game was brand new and everyone was stoked to finally play it the community was awesome. But like with every other online game (especially fps ones) the toxicity didn’t take long to flow and only keeps getting worse.

We can’t really blame Blizzard for it but just sad that people can’t just play a computer game to just have fun anymore without needing to be toxic to other players.
