These New Kiriko Changes

Feel Great.

I’ll take 40% increased Ofuda firing rate over 5m of TP range any day of the week. She now feels a lot faster and she can spend slightly more time chucking Kunai at people’s heads.

The TP Range is definitely noticeable but I understand why they did this change. I wouldn’t be complaining about not being able to get away from somewhere I wasn’t supposed to be anyways. That is now considered to be bad positioning. Props to Blizzard for making her stronger.

Just wait, you’ll have players complaining about no longer being able to engage w/ Kiriko like they used to..

Over all, I feel she was buffed if only because I don’t play her as a solo flanker

They already are complaining even though Blizzard has made it clear that they don’t want you to do this lol so the reasoning went above their heads.

And you can still flank when your team is too bad to push the payload. 30m gives you enough range. I can still make the enemy team fall apart with her. But straying too far and primarily playing her as a flanker is not the intention. You can flank on any hero really, even Ashe. But people were just forcing it on Kiri.

She feels more fluid to play, and I also feel the role of the main support fits her much more with such a defensive kit.

I guess people just want a hero to work how they want, and not how it was intended…

It’s a nerf to the playstyle that GMs complain about and a buff to the ““wrong”” playstyle that 99% of us generally end up running so yeah, I’ll take this trade.

I also think it feels much better than simply increasing Kiriko’s HPS which would have been an easy way to promote the standard gamestyle but not as fluid feeling as this change, annoying to play against, and a step in undoing the good that the DPS passive is doing. If only they’d put thought into the Lifeweaver changes this patch, eh. Oh well.

At this point I am sure, there is no “intend” with Kiriko and rather a hybrid aproach.

She has a defensive kit and her only damage tool are her unreliable kunais, which are mainly for duels in close range. That paired with good mobility and a solid heal makes her a great main support. Not to mention she is in the same subrole as Mercy, Moira and Weaver.

On the other hand, she has perks that are more offensive, such as the first one that heals when you hit an enemy or the second one that provides teleportation and faster attack speed. Both of them are for more aggressive Kirikos who jump in and dive together with another character.

Its more or less a preference how you play her, and it might be one of the reasons why she is so popular. If you force an aggressive Mercy, you throw, and if you play a passive Moira you throw, but Kiriko can do both and get value.

100% agreed. You can now again shoot and heal without any delay, like she could do back in the day. So weaving in healing/damage is working again. Before that you had to shoot, shoot heal and most people just cant make this work as well.

So glad that the first few posters expanded upon exactly what I was getting at so that anybody who seems to disagree with this thread can read before making comments. Because I just don’t see this being a topic that can be debated.

If you die because you are more than 30m away from your team, you are part of the problem and Blizzard is punishing you and telling you to stay with your team like a good support. Nobody can really argue that you’re doing them any good by being this far away.

Somebody is probably dying without your help to support them. And you probably aren’t even that good at landing kunai anyways. I’m usually with my team getting a lot of picks.

Anyways, thanks guys. This thread is off to a great start.

Agreed with the posts here tbh, I’ve basically never played much offensive other than peeking slightly to poke every now and then while remaining behind the tank or close by to the side or w/e if they need healing. I’ve just never really liked the flanking style with how it leaves you one support less with the team when you could need both, when her kunai’s are often hit or miss

Facts.

The only time I ever felt the need to flank was when my team couldn’t push the payload out from the spawn point and the enemy was equally as bad imo.

This was on Dorado so getting behind them was so easy. Just went through the tunnel past the trains. I easily killed about 3-4 of the enemy team as Kiri and we pushed. lol otherwise no point to flank

For my own money, it’s not that I don’t want to flank. It’s that stuff happens, like my co-support starts off as something like Ana that’s capable of handling tank healing duties, dies quickly doing something daft, then swaps to Mercy or LW. Well, erm, alright then. Guess that whole idea just went out of the window. :pachimari_confused:

id rather the nerf they gave to tp would be .5s startup or something instead of a range nerf. i like the globality, it adds a lot to how she can be played. realistically the ability to instantly tp is whats strong about tp not the distance. i think if you had to suzu yourself or take cover to make an escape, that wouldbe what makes kiriko feel more fair. and once that nerf hits thered be a lot of power budget freed up for buffs like +40% heal rate which is actually crazy tbh i cant believe they just ripped that

I hear you, but I have to disagree because if they gave us a delay on TP there would be such a backlash from the community over it and I wouldn’t blame them.

The TP delay would basically be gutting Kiriko’s kit.

This would hard nerf her survivability in such a horrible way. It’s really not THAT hard to kill her.

Like at least she can’t fly around.

imagine if she could though….

Yeah idk why they needed a compensation buff for the best character in the game to make her even better :joy_cat:. The 5m nerf was noticeable tbf but 30m is still crazy range and you just can’t take as egregious of an angle anymore. That heal buff is crazy though can go back to throwing knives way faster and build rush fast af for the handful of games I’ve played her since the patch.

After reload it comes out to like roughly 15% hps increase which don’t get me wrong is still a rowdy change for the best character in the game

For the best character..? She is far from the best character my guy

Best duelist in the game with tiny hitbox, and 2 tap potential on massive projectiles, and iframes from the best button in the game which also heals 90 for some reason and is also aoe for some reason. And can also take egregious angles because she can tp to a friend for free. Don’t get me wrong I love abusing her when I play support because she’s super fun but she has been the best character in the game basically since it came out

She isn’t the best, but for supports with skill expression she definitely is HER. Also we just love her and her entire style of play. Shinobi/Kunoichi is such a dope concept and I just like her a lot better than Genji. One day I will learn to play him but Kiriko is definitely a more likeable hero by far.

It was very noticeable, but 30m is not a crazy range.

It is closer than you would expect, but I get it. You have no business being that far away from your team and if you are the last surviving player on your team, well maybe the enemy deserves that kill as opposed to you still being able to TP away to a teammate that’s running back. I can understand that.

It was kinda broken before to be able to always get away.

I will agree to this. It was a strong buff, but it was also needed tbh.

Kiriko is in a good spot right now. She isn’t overly strong or too weak imo. She is just right. She might even be just a hair under perfect but we can rock with this. I might be biased, but they could definitely shave 2 seconds off her Suzu CD and she would be perfect. But otherwise yeah I’m happy with what they did to her.

At this point, just learn Anran instead. She is easier, less counterable, and hotter. Both figuratively and literally. Genji is only for tryhards that beef with hitscan but still cannot kill them. Do not go down that path, Sensei.

Yes, I do. I refuse to be anywhere near those peasants.

Rofl! “Might.”
