First they have to see the mercy.

Why aren’t you shooting her?
- unless they’ve attacked them they can’t see their health (weird game design choice).
- Not everyone is on voicecom (it is what it is)
- Pinging someone after certain events (using a cooldown, damaging them to low hp) should prompt contextual audio of the event. You see ana just used sleep and ping her: your character says “Ana just used sleep”.
It’s essentially a developer QoL neglect issue.

Not being on voicecom stops you from seeing characters or having awareness of who is around you?

Shoot the support!!! And if any of them are mercy then that’s the one that gets priority

It’s so ubiquitous that even complaining about it is pedantic.
mercy shouldn’t exist, not because she’s broken but because their main players are deplorable

It seems like everytime I target a mercy they use ult and zip around.
When they are using rez you always come up 1 bullet shy of killing her.
