A topic to include and hopefully get advice on the games we play.

Map: Havana / SR: 2300 / Heroes: Mccree, Widow, Orisa

you overextend past your barrier and die often, play behind your barrier don’t overextend

don’t yeet your shield in to a group of enemies, just place your shield infront of you.

Just use queue.gg or flowfeedback. I promise you’ll get a lot more attention to your vods.

Hey, if you want you can join our discord and someone will check your game if you post it there.

0:53 - not sure why you backed off here, you were down 2 so the fight is quite difficult to win, especially with no ults. I think you should’ve played aggressive and tried to get an equalising pick.

1:25 - playing too passive again. You reposition which is fine but when your team re-engages you should push hard. You’ve got flashbang so unlike soldier you can play McCree at mid to close range.

1:57 - minor, but you could’ve high nooned around the corner too. That would’ve put more pressure on them to look in two directions and at the least you could’ve broken the orisa shield she’d put up again to help your bob out.

2:45 - a common theme I see you doing is turning around and walking away as they push. NEVER turn and run if you’re a McCree if they can see you. You might move slower but you’re better off doing damage to that Hammond for example.

3:03 - small mistake but should’ve held it longer to get two

3:37 - you whiff the flash on the Hammond, the Moira and hog notice and the hog rushes your defenseless junkrat. If you’d saved it you could’ve saved him.

3:54 - everyone was dead - pay more attention to the killfeed.

4:35 - I like the flank here. Good positioning.

5:18 - McCree 101 (maybe 201), don’t challenge a Hanzo at that range unless you crouch adad spam jump

5:56 - again, save the flash

6:15 - could’ve 100% saved the reaper here with flash

6:26 - you could’ve high nooned from the bridge if you’d stayed there (wait for the hog to use hook though). You’d also have to sneak around and wait for the respawners to go in front too or that Hammond would’ve killed you.

7:00 - should’ve touched and danced around the payload for a bit.

7:52 - your positioning here is too safe again. You would’ve done more on the left side. At higher ranks a flanker would’ve dove you and killed you because you’re too far from your team.

10:29 - you placed your shield on the payload without noticing the bastion hopped off. Don’t assume the bastion will follow you, follow the bastion.

11:25 - good focus on the widow

12:12 - both your DPS work better at mid to close range so instead of pushing main your team should ideally push through left.

13:19 - the supercharger was unnecessary - the fight was won and you used 3 other ults to secure it already.

13:27 - no reason to fortify

13:54 - that was a risky move but I see what you were trying to do there. The reason that you couldn’t pull it off was because a) you at a firestrike at 13:44 that you literally walked into, b) you used fortify too early and c) they used amplification matrix. It would’ve been better if you’d avoided a and b and fortified while walking past the rein shield. Good idea but execution needed work.

Overall I won’t comment much on widow since you didn’t play her much at all but your mechanics do need work. You miss a lot of easy shots. I would say hit death match and focus solely on aiming. Once you spend a good few hours aim training you should improve. You should also learn to flick, especially with widow.

Another issue with McCree was positioning. Safe positioning is good, too safe positioning is bad. You spent too much time repositioning and backing up when you should’ve played aggressive. Try to play more aggressively. The best positioning is that which will allow you to do your job well while not dying. The McCree flank on first point was good. You took out their unaware Ashe and baited their pharah into coming into close quarters with you. Two easy kills. The C9 after was unfortunate but I don’t think you could’ve done anything about that.

Ult usage is another. You almost never time them right. For McCree you want to use it when no one is looking at you and when no one can counter you if you’re doing it naked (snipers, hook, etc). For Orisa you should supercharge as early into a fight as possible as at the very least you’ll force the other team to back up and give ground.

Cool down management needs work too. Your flash usage is alright, but there were certain situations that you could’ve saved allies from the roadhog that you didn’t. You also used it a couple of times in situations that you weren’t able to confirm the kill (the climbing Hanzo for example). Your orisa fortify usage needs a lot more work imo. A general rule of thumb is to use it when you’re taking a lot of damage (like if you’re under half health or so as you have no more armour). Halt usage was alright but could’ve been saved at some points. Shield usage was generally okay but they had a lot of high damage so it would get broken quite fast. Pushing through a flank route would’ve been best.

Oh I also do like how you focused the baptist immortality field each fight. That’s good.

Hope this helps.

What is a good mindset to in to fix these mistakes? My thoughts right now are

Flashbang: Use only as a tool to save a teammate. Do Not use it as a crutch for easier shot.

High Noon: Use only if another teammate has drawn enemy attention (Ult or extreme focus).

Aggressiveness: Not really sure??

Orisa Fortify: Like you said, do not use until damage is being taken (think Winston barrier)

General: Pay more attention to killfeed

Thanks a bunch for the response.

No no no haha. What I meant was there are certain situations that you can save flashbang to help a teammate. I realise that this is a bit advanced (generally don’t see it above diamond or so) so it’s alright if you disregard this point for now. Use flashbang to secure kills as that is its primary use. Just keep in mind if you see a roadhog you can use to to stun him if he hooks someone or uses take a breather.

Generally yes. As long as they aren’t looking at you or you’re behind a shield. You really want to look at their composition and check first if anything can stun you out of it or kill you during it.

Play a bit more with your team. You like to play quite far back where I’d expect an Ashe or soldier to play. It’s not bad, it’s just a little too safe. You could be doing more damage or flashing an enemy but you’re taking that time to reposition (and don’t forget your shots do less damage the further away you are). Try to position like just behind your team or on the high ground near them.

Yup, or they have a lot of damage that can melt you.

Yup, and just be a bit more careful about ult timings. They go hand in hand. The general rule of thumb I use is save ult if we or they are two or more down relative to either team (4v6, 5v3 etc). In the case you have a teamwipe combo then it’s fine to use them when you’re 4v6 for example (I once saw a reaper get a 4k in a 4v2 situation because no one could counter him…) but don’t worry about this for now. Just try to get your general killfeed awareness up first.

I realise I overcomplicated things a bit but hopefully that clarifies them. Let me know if you need anything else lol
