t his reminds me how I uped my monitor’s refresh rate
and it got saturated
it looked horrible
if I remember right, it would ideally be 144,
Ideally you want it maybe 20-30 FPS higher than the monitors refresh rate to account for any possible slight hitches or fps dips.
fair enough. though
I must say that you should value color over frame rate, though that is my opinion because i prefer sharper color over smoother frame rate
THOUGH (Exclaimer here, I am not a pc gamer primarily)
I generally stick to 60 fps for nearly every game
General rule is aim for double. But honestly just, 144 is fine. There are diminishing returns past it and as ghosting (pixels take time to swap colours, and the voltage jumps can overshoot or undershoot depending on the manufacturer’s settings), becomes more of a factor there’s debate regarding whether or not it’s better to use a technology like OLED, which swaps in about 0.1 ms, at 144 Hz, or to use a 240 hertz IPS display that swaps in about 3-4 ms with ghosting present. The OLED looks and feels nicer but is arguably slightly delayed, but it also has a quicker baseline assuming both monitors get their image data the instant of display.
The differences this can make is small, and is only going to make a small impact. If you want every possible advantage, go for 288, or 300 if you like having the number be even. Go turn on Nvidia Reflex in the settings (if you happen to have a nvidia gpu, AMD has some kind of equivalent), don’t activate Nvidia Reflex+Boost, it just drastically increases the wattage it pulls for like 0.1 ms different which isn’t something you are capable of noticing.
My computer can go higher than 144 easy.
But i don’t think it does 300fps easy.
Once the ult spam starts it takes a toll.
That is why I was asking.
Nope.
It really depends on a lot of factors on a 144hz monitor running at 174fps vs 144fps will improve average latency from 6.9 to 6.5ms. A 0.44ms improvement. At 288fps it’s a 3.4ms improvement.
I will tell you now that 0.44ms is not worth it because of screen tearing.
The ideal on high refresh monitors is running your monitor 3% below hz because you can use freesync/gsync and for some nothing is better.
Then if you can exceed your hz by 50%+ fps you start to get into a region it might be worth as you could be shaving off 1 or more.
Basically, you get latency improvements for running at a higher fps than your monitor but it’s at the cost of screen tearing.
Running 400 fps on a 144hz monitor is probably worth it all the time at 180fps… Nope.
Edit: Numbers were off by a factor.
There is more to it than this though.
Better specs absolutely do make a difference. Always weird to see playeys say that 60FPS is peak gameplay and everything else past that is a scam and makes no difference.
But this is some hardcore copium.
Fair enough, in that case go for 144. It’s absolutely plenty. I reached masters on that and I’m not exactly fantastic mechanically. It will be enough.
On Liquidpedia it said Moth from San Francisco Shock had a Mistel split keyboard and a Logitech G Pro mouse. I got the same equipment and changed my sens to match his. Despite this, I remain in gold. I think there is something wrong with the MMR.
I have a 144hz monitor.
NVIDEA card.
I can run the game at 300fps, but it drops or swings between 230-300 depending whats on the screen.
I can run at 200fps steady, but is there really any point?
Are you chalking up their skill to their PC’s power?
My dude no lol.
Hardware performance can certainly compliment prowess and enhance it, but hardware alone can’t make your actual skill better. I really started upgrading my system back in 2016-2017 when I started climbing in rank in OW1. The upgrades granted me about consistent 300fps (cap at the time) along with a high refresh rate monitor (144hz).
Wanna take a guess at how high I climbed? I went from ~3300 to ~3496. That was my peak after hardware upgrades, and I never got close to it again.
Performance is nice, but it’s not a crutch.
And if you disagree, then feel free to buy a 400+fps system and prove me wrong
You’re totally right, the moment I bought a 10000$ computer and 3000$ chair I became rank 1, it’s time somebody shines light on this issue.
I can’t tell if this is a troll post or copium.
Anyway, if you’re being serious, I have some input.
I did have two friends who were Bronze in seasons 1 - 5. Turns out they were playing on basically tin cans with 15 to 20 FPS. Then my friend got a better job and bought them amazing gaming rigs, and they did almost immediately rank up! … to Silver, where they remained.
Point is: Yes it matters, but it doesn’t matter that much.
Don’t remember who it was but he proved you can get to T500 without a good PC. He had an average of 15FPS on a laptop and made it into the top 50ish.
This is like saying “that guy is only a good musician because he paid over $3000 for his guitar” as if the years of practice, dedication and study aren’t the actual deciding factors lol
Look up the story of eqo, former owl player, his team in the world cup went undefeated in qualifiers
He made top 500 on some bad laptop with really low fps when he first started
There is basically, the information will be more up-to-date than if you were at 144fps.
To put it basically…
140fps at 144hz with freesync/gsync - Lowest latency screen tear-free. This matter when you are turning fast mostly and when there is a lot of movement on the screen and if it effects you.
144fps+ at 144hz - Even lower latency but you will get screentearing which can mess you up or have no effect depending on who you are. This is good for things like wanting to react to a single thing fast. for example, waiting for a widow to peak.
The difference is minor but it is worth it.
You are understanding it wrong. He has had top 10 accounts on every single server at one point or another - and he’s had all 10 of the top10 accounts in his alts on multiple servers too.
He can play well regardless of what server you put him on, hence why he’s also doing so good in the world cup for Saudi team (tho their whole team is pretty stacked).
Is gysync something you turn on in the game settings? Or in the Nvidia app?
