The Talon Takeover of Overwatch & Story Theories

Talon has apparently taken over all of Overwatch. The new sigil that replaced the OW2 looks like a combination of Talon, Blackwatch and Vendetta’s She-Wolf sigil. What are the Devs planning on releasing with this new Lore-focused event? PvE? A Mirrorwatch-like event? :face_with_monocle: :hollow_red_circle: :black_flag:

Realistically : some PVP Mirrorwatch-like seems the mostl likely.
But they’ll also give us lore in any form (comic/cinematic even?), but a PVE Archives-like seems… unlikely?

I wouldn’t get my hopes up, since the whole premise for OW2’s existence (OW returning amidst the Global Threat of Null Sector) has been dropped.

We will go the Destiny 2 way, side-content and more senseless “expanding lore” stories instead of sticking with the original promise.

Yeah, probably not a lot. But Im holding out on hope. I think something awesome will be revealed.

I have a new theory of whats going on. DRUNKINJEDI made a comment in General about “why do so many heroes have red eyes?”. And I thought it was just an artistic choice, but now I realize it might be much deeper. What if heroes like Vendetta and Juno are genetic-projects by Talon, similar to Widowmaker? Juno’s Dad is a total mystery and Vendetta’s Dad was a Talon mob boss but little is known about her Vendetta’s Mom. Is that why there isnt any help being sent to Mars from Earth? The secretive, Red Promise Project? Is that why Vendetta is so mad all the time, was she genetically-engineered to be furious at the world?

what about ashe? or is it because she is just albino?

Yeah, Im not sure about Ashe  Maybe a renegade, like she left the family completely and went rogue.

I just made a realization. Juno and Ashe have an interesting voice interaction. Juno starts talking to Ashe in an Old Western style. Then Juno explains her Dad was from the Wild West. Ashe is of course from the “Wild West” of the future. What if both of their Dad’s knew eachother within Talon? Maybe they were best friends? Or it was made the same Dad’s genetics and they are half-sisters?

Is her dad from the Wild West? From what I remember she says he brought “westerns” into the colony which was just like movies and shows

You might be right there. Maybe her Dad was just a fan of Western movies

Looks like we just got our new Talon-lore. Its called “Vested Interest”. I liked it! Its brief and not very animated  but it progressed the Talon arc a little.

Who is this new Vishkar man character? Will he be the next villain added to the game? And what does this high-tech casino bargaining chip that Max has in his hand actually do?

They said themselves they don’t have the chops to do PvE.

This is a marketing tactic to sell skins. The game doesn’t have story/lore.

They are going to be coming out with another round of Talon themed skins.

That man is Sanjay Korpal, he is Symm boss and has a seat in Talon consil, but he is uname because a)most player ignore who Sanjay is, and b) it meant to say that Vishkar as a whole is easy to manipulate, whoever is in charge of Vishkar.

I think if we get some Vishkar hero at some point, it’s most likely someone who’ll step up if/when Symmetra (who is actually Sanjay’s favorite agent to send to deal with problems) will deflect Vishkar when she discover the truth about Dr Bhatt death…

The chip got evey intel on Talon’s people and how to manipulate them.

Ah! Looks like I need to do some Lore research on this Sanjay fellow. :face_with_monocle:

And casino chip is filled with secret information about the former Talon agents and how to manipulate them? The invalubility of hidden knowledge. Perhaps the casino chip also has cybernetic technology to interface with a Human mind, like what possibly happened to Emre in recent Freja Motion Comic. Yes, this is all starting to make sense now.

Theres still 2 slots left in the “Story” section in-game. This is getting pretty exciting for upcoming entries into the Story

He appears in both Symmetra’s stories : Overwatch 2 - A Better World and Overwatch 2 - Stone by Stone - he is also seen in Moira’s origin story with other Talon members, same with the Masquarade comic.

Hum, I don’t think the chip can do that, because if it did, then Max woudln’t need Freja’s help to find Emre.
I think that Max need Emre either to find a way to contact “the Red Eye” (known as The Conspiracy within the lore community) or because Max is kinda part of that Conspiracy and maybe he was task to find Emre on the loose? IdK, Max seems to have a bigger plan than just Talon, and we don’t really know what it is yet :woman_shrugging:

I’d like to make a rather implausible hypothesis, but one that’s quite useful for the progression of Talon’s lore.

We’re assuming that Vendetta is about to clash with Doomfist, the Big Boss who lately surrounds himself with characters more inclined to self-interest (even betrayal, in the case of Max in Singapore) or with rather unstable alliances (see Null Sector). I’ve seen many people in the community say, “Now Doomfist dies, and Vendetta will become the boss.” But I disagree.

This girl’s motivations are quite banal compared to Doomfist, whose major flaw is his excessive reliance on the ideal of the conflict he often tells us… but then mismanages his allies. And we’re talking about the same Doomfist, who wasn’t even defeated by Mauga (read the lore).

I think instead we’ll have a clash… but also a deal, a change of perspective. I think Vendetta won’t gain Talon’s absolute power, but will instead embrace his ideas, which were already ignored during her father’s lifetime. She’ll still be an unstable ally, but also a key figure in radically changing Talon’s approach, which is too slow and ineffective.

And the first to pay for this inefficiency… could be Sanjay Korpal, as happened with Vialli. Sanjay is just a young gentleman who doesn’t display any fighting spirit. Instead, I think we’ll get the teaser of a true VIshkar Villain Hero who will fully inherit the idea that was had years ago for Sanjay as a playable hero (which, I repeat, has always seemed too implausible to me due to the laziness with which he dispatches Symmetra for practically all corporate operations).

In short, I think the teaser helps us say, “Uh, which of all these characters should be replaced because they don’t bring any real utility to Talon Team?” And let’s be clear: Symmetra has never been a villain, just as Vishkar itself was too corporate and less action-oriented than its technology would have been plausible (the sword of Vendetta confirms this).

MORE THEORY

Vendetta might also encourage Talon to form friendships far more fruitful than the ideal of engaging the null sector (unnecessarily) simply because he and Ramattra shared a need for conflict despite their fundamental enemies. Any ideas, besides a leadership change for Vishkar?

Hashimoto. Deadlock Gang. Lucheng.

Never officially confirmed as connected to Talon, yet perfectly eligible for a position of power to expand control of the world. Vendetta might be the answer to a “hey Doomfist: Overwatch is gathering some new, true allies. Stop wasting your time surrounding yourself with overly philosophical people instead of men like my father who actively boycotted Overwatch” (the Rome explosion).

It’s just speculation, but certainly the most sensible “OMG; Vendetta will kill Doomfist” tack.

Awesome theory! You have thought this one through well :ok_hand: Also, Hello again! Its been a long time! :waving_hand:

Yeah, the whole “Vendetta is going to kill Doomfist” doesnt make sense to me either, especially since Doomfist is going to be a playable character in Overwatch for the foreseeable future. But a battle, a fight between Vendetta and Doomfist does seem likely. Perhaps the 1v1 fight will humble Vendetta or maybe Doomfist, or both. A truce might be made. An alliance perhaps.

The Sanjay hint is really interesting because it opens up the possibility of another character connected to Sanjay and Vishkar Corp. who will become the new villain. I agree with you, Sanjay’s lore doesnt feel like he will become a playable character. He seems much more like Efie to Orisa, a supporting character but not part of Overwatch directly.

The involvement Lucheng as being connected to Talon seems very likely at this point. Lots of hints around Juno’s lore and “Project Red Promise” to suggest that Lucheng has some kind of hidden agenda going on which might involve Talon. As for Hashimoto and the Deadlock Gang, I dont quite see if they could connect but perhaps I need to review their lore to look for clues :face_with_monocle:

GOSH! :pachimari_alarmed:

I can’t believe it either! :scream:

I…

DID I GUESS?! :exploding_head:

I think you guessed it!

So this Vaira woman could be the next villian. She looks like she has the exact same hand-technology as Symmetra. Perhaps they are related? :face_with_monocle:

Vaira Singhania has a voice actress and a hero name : Domina.

She is Vishkar’s vice president of operations and development, and Vishkhar late founder, Dr Vishwakarma Bhatt’s granddaughter.

Symmetra is an orphan.
