They have their own standard for fun.
Thats even worse lmao
It’s only natural. They are the game designers, the game will go in the direction they envision.
but yet we see constantly blizzard undermining themselves to make sure very vocal whiners get what they want.
Thats not the sign of a team that has a vision.
To me it makes me think they have no idea what they’re doing so they’re just following the group’s lead.
Season 3 to beginning of 4 where Ana received minor nerfs Mercy got invulnerability and Lucio wasn’t touched. Best Season by far and the most fun.
I don’t think they should revert the changes, but ever since Mercy 2.0 the meta has been painfully stale for flex supports. They filed down all the edges on Ana and left her nothing to compete with other healers. Mercy is still the most powerful healer and always begs a Zenyatta, making Lucio look bad unless you’re trying for a Moira comp. Brigitte is still better replacing a tank/dps slot, so she isn’t even really spicing up the support meta.
Now i can’t even emulate the highest level of competition because they won’t even be playing on the same patch as us in OWL. That’s all i was waiting to see before playing competitive this season. T_T
So true, and not just in the context of meta. The entire Overwatch experience is about it being someone’s turn to have fun.
“I think for a change I’d like to play…”
All other roles insta-fill.
“…never mind, looks like I’m support again” ![]()
One of the few games you rarely get the experience you wanted when you turned it on. Be it from a forced meta, or the lack of roles select/guild.
And they wonder why there’s so much toxicity in the game, it’s kinda what happens when the core design is flawed and players are frustrated.
OH What i wouldn’t give to be able to play in those seasons again. ;-;
Mercy was still the character that could Send shivers up my spine, With one Single voiceline.
˜”°•.˜”°• Heroes Never Die!! •°”˜.•°”˜
But alas, Good things go too soon.
This is going to sound selfish — especially for a support class to say — but I’ve never paid any attention to the meta.
As in — ever.
I never paid attention to the various meta & I don’t know what they are — mainly because I don’t care.
I’m here to play a game & to have fun — win or lose.
And fun should not rely on the current meta.
Fun is subjective and you literally described any competitive game that has continuous balancing. The moment a game becomes competitive, a meta is formed for the most “optimal” way to play and to have the highest probability of winning to gain elo (or whatever measurement the game uses).
It’s safe to say that a ajority of people want to win, they have fun by winning. You don’t exactly play a PvP game wanting to lose. This is why people adhere to the current FOTM (flavor of the month), which, seems to be zarya + hanzo spam currently. Whenever the current meta gets addressed, people will just move onto the next flavor of the month and the next batch of people will be upset.
You can never please everyone, because once again – fun is subjective.
Actually, Torb was pretty strong in the beta. He could build up to level 3 turrets, and his firerate on his rivet gun was much more faster than what we have now.
Obviously, the level three turret in the past wasn’t as strong as the one he has in ult form, but it had a lot more health and actually made his turret a threat rather than someone breathing in its general direction and killing it today.
It was also used to counter heroes that would often flank…but once he got nerfed, a domino effect occurred.
For all those who don’t know why the balance feels out of whack right now I’ll explain sort of what happened
They Nerfed dive over a few patches, added an anti dive hero in that is pretty accessible to most the player base and buffed some other heroes that countered dive
So the meta swung and now they will make balances to close the gap but they needed to destroy dive because people were complaining about it non stop and the game had to progress in someway
Gutting dive in non pro play pretty much opened up a lot of options, range options and Hanzo just got a buff. Hanzo is strong as hell right now because both those things happened at the same time and he happens to be one of the better Briggitte killers
just go with the flow people
I mean, someone needs to have a simplistic kit for people to just pick up and play. And then learn to use in more complex ways once they get better at the hero. If every hero had crazy complex and difficult kits then new players would struggle like hell to figure out what to do.
I’m with you!
Personally I’d be happy if they put all new cosmetics/maps/etc. on hold and sort out what we already have.
