"The skins are too expensive!"

You can’t tell people that “they aren’t expensive” everyone is entitled to their opinion and have the right to look at something and think “wow that’s overpriced” and not buy it.

That’s like Abercrombie selling a t-shirt for £70 and you’re paying for a 1cm Logo at the top left and you can get a good high quality t-shirt without a logo for £10 at Marks and Spencer lol and someone saying “no that t-shirt is too expensive I will go to M&S for the same quality without the logo”

If people think something is expensive, they ain’t gonna buy it, no matter how nice it is, they spend their money how THEY wanna spend it.

Imaging being so privileged you think charging for cosmetic skins on made up characters is “exploitation”.

Nope. Im a socialist.

That’s not for you to decide.
If it’s an alright price to you, fair.
But for many others, it will put them off ever buying a skin.
Hell, I have close to 2k hours in this game, have bought lootboxes in the past, have merch at home, I am a hardcore OW fan, but I will likely never be buying a skin due to how expensive it is.
I have the money to spend on skins, but with a pricing like that, it completely puts me off.
If it would be 10 bucks for a legendary, I would probably buy a skin occasionally

Yes, but people aren’t spamming forums whining about the Abercrombie shirt.

If anything, the shop in OW2 made me not want to spend money in this game. Because of what we got in OW1 and we are offered in OW2. I even bought a skin for a card in that League card game Runeterra that is “worth” $13.

That’s because this is the Overwatch forums lol I was using it as an example lol

its always the same arguments - the same script:

  • other games are doing it so it’s okay! (race to the bottom!)
  • its my money, I can do what I want with it! (takes pride in their freedom to be stupid)
  • you’re just jealous of my skins! (thinks people are impressed to see the same skin that every other idiot purchased that week in the store)
-the devs have to make money! (conveniently ignoring the fact that everyone would have been happy to buy the game rather than adopt this bs business model)

I mean I guess there really are no other points they could make, it’s all so blatantly disgusting and irredeemable.

And thats the crux of the issue. Why should any business cater to you, when by your own admission you’d probably not even buy them that often at half the price?

wow, you suck at it HARD

people got exploited over imaginary monkey jpgs for more money, so yeah, skins can be exploitative.
are they high on the moral crimes list? no, but this is an ow forum i an’t gonna be talking about stuff like locking car features behind monthly subs or the death of ownership that the game pass is

because I won’t be buying any skins at all like this?
Tell me what makes more money 0 sales at 20 bucks per skin or 2-3 sales per year at 10 bucks a skin?

Blizzards already answered that. Your sales werent important.

Hey don’t knock Game Pass, it’s actually the best subscription model compared to the other ones like Ubisoft’s or EA’s :face_with_hand_over_mouth: and it costs either $1 a month or less than the price of a Legendary Skin at $15 a month.

Yeah, and that’s fair.
I still won’t defend their scummy practices.
But shop prices will turn away many people and lack of free progression in the game will kill off the playerbase sooner or later.
You can say “oh but it makes them money” as often as you want, but fans of the franchise still have a right to complain about how Blizzard is treating their loyalty

While you are right that they did it because its still in the range of “yeah I would buy it for my main hero” for the most players, it alienates a lot of other players and especially with the price of OWL skins in OW1, it shows that they increased the prices and that does not go well with us OW1 players.

But for casuals? I think its objectively a good thing. Mostly, you get a complete pack for 22 bucks (skin and other stuff) for the hero of your choosing. Unthinkable for us OW1 players but good for new players.

still no actual ownership, so yeah, the point isn’t the money. But this is not the forum to talk about it

i dunno, if i saw a game that requires 8 months or 22 dollars for a single skin i’d probably sigh and buy a copy of rain world for my friend instead

If I like a skin, I would buy it. But I’d buy it last minute.

The skins are pretty pricy, at the same time, they’re not game changing and don’t have an impact on gameplay itself. So, I’d have no rush to get anything.

And for Sims, I always wait until the packs are discounted.

You see, mostly everyone saw and agrees that the $10 Battle Pass is normal, acceptable, in range, or reasonable.

The other stuff? Not so much. They are charging $1 for a spray.

Yet. Look up Apex P2W skins.

I don’t really think it does. It alienates completionists, who want every skin, sure. But your average player only has what? 3-4 “mains” at best? Who couldnt care less about 95% of the skins in the game?

Them dropping $20 every now and then for the character they play doesnt seem like a big ask.
