The secret about the new Patch ! šŸ¤—

Exactly. And it isnt like Winston can do any good, especially with the armor buff again. Shame that they did that.

I would but there’s a widowmaker somewhere far in the distance. My supports and dps are afraid to step through the choke because their hp pools are not high enough to tank a headshot.

You mean the armour buff that makes him tankier?

I swear to god, playing yesterday made me think the patch notes flew over peoples heads. people were completely unaware of shield nerfs and armor buffs, and played like they used to.
On one round on Hanamura, it took almost 5 deaths on enemy team for people to find the courage to push first choke…
Me and my mate were playing supports and we were like "duuuuuuuuuuuuuuude…"

Ftfy

If only d.va and sigma had an absorb all damage ability that would make it easy to pass a choke for a couple seconds…

im honestly so happy with this patch.

doomfist isn’t as trash tier as I thought he would be and other dps are starting to be usable

I played hanzo and cleared an entire team out because they are so used to being able to stand anywhere.

This may not be dive, but its aggressive and faced paced like it and I love it

Simply because it took devs to nerf shields for most people on these forums to understand that hiding behind a shield isn’t any helpful when it comes to killing characters that one shot like Widowmaker.

Let’s hope that they finally learn to pick a Winston, Dva or Hammond to dive the Widowmaker, even though there are still some species on these very forums that think Widowmaker is somehow stronger than a Winston (even with Winston having a 6-sec CD leap ability that overpowers the now 12-sec CD grappling hook).

I did a few ranked matches and there are still tanks playing Rein + Zarya against a good Widowmaker. At this point, it’s clearly hopeless for certain players to have game sense on Overwatch. No amount of nerfs can fix that level of cluelessness unless we want Overwatch to become a basic FPS game with no counters where every hero is pretty much the same with no real tactics.

Playing aggressively is not the way in dark souls in reality being patient and thoughtful is the way to win most boss battles but nonw the less great reference. Lol

What if they just arent good with dive heroes?

I’ve always used to play agressivly, just before this patch like around 2 weeks before this patch. I finally learned to play defensive and stay with my team for once lmao.

But now that the D&B (Dash&Bash) Meta is finally out i need to play agressive again.

Well good luck learning a habit you finally got rid of.

Well that’s another problem that had a fix prior to Role Queue. When a player was bad with dive tank heroes, they would switch to playing DPS or healer and someone else would pick the dive tank hero instead.

Since Role Queue, being a one-trick is very punitive for the team. If tank and support players can’t play at least 3 different heroes from their categories, they will most likely be a liability to their team.

Before 2-2-2, players could play at least 2-3 heroes from different roles and there was always a way to switch roles and heroes with other players, now it’s pretty much impossible.

Also, there’s no possibility to adapt to a one-trick from your team with Role Queue. Back then, when Role queue didn’t exist, when a one-trick wouldn’t want to switch, it was still possible to play around them and pick an extra DPS hero to compensate or anything that would help the team.

Now it’s all gone.

So… to answer your question, if someone isn’t good with dive tanks, they can either take some time to learn or accept the fact that they will lose 50% of their games (and anger their teammates in the process). Just because half the tanks of the Overwatch roster can’t counter a Widowmaker doesn’t mean she needs a nerf.

It just means people needs to learn how the game works :man_shrugging:

That being said, people wanted Role queue and the price to pay is learning more and more heroes. If people can’t or don’t want to, that’s on them. They can’t have their cake and eat it too.

Nope. I can actually shoot … PEOPLE now. Not just barriers.

The 250HP heroes should not be able to be one shot outside of the shooter being damage boosted. This would give proper counter-picks to strong snipers.

Widow was litteraly used in anti-dive comps in OWL. Just saying. A bad widow does get countered by dive, but a good widow counter dive.

Playing a dive comps properly is hard, a winston alone is just a free kill if he try to dive a widow solo. You have to convince your entire team to play dive, you can’t do a ā€œhalf diveā€.

You dive her with your team and use your mobility, widow jump in her team, get protection / healing then grapple aways when you re-engage. While your team go after her, her team is killing you and she is still relatively safe. If she get one kill, she got as much value as you just got. The new hanzo tank-busting E and reaper are playable too now, which make dive harder to use.

Not to mention, she can attempts to kill your dive before you are even in range to engage her.

Good thing OWL represents less than 1% of players and that the rest of us isn’t affected by this then.

Same goes with any other hero and their counters. If the player is good enough, they can’t win against their counters. It seems fair to me that being good when stuck in a delicate situation is rewarded.

Coordination and team play were always the key to winning in Overwatch. I’m not sure Winston would die to a Widowmaker in a 1 VS 1 fight unless Widowmaker was already targeting the Winston from afar and that he decided to jump on her with less than 50% of his HP.

But well, it’s still debatable, anything can happen. It all depends on how good or bad the Winston and Widowmaker players are.

Widow is not always close to her team and don’t forget that when a Widowmaker is harassed by a Winston, Dva etc… she can’t aim at all most of the time which leaves the enemy team with one less DPS. A Widowmaker that doesn’t hit her targets is zero value for the team.

To me, it’s still smarter to try to dive the Widowmaker and focus her than the whole team hiding behind a shield (that will break eventually) because this zones the entire team just for the enemy to dive. And once your team is dived, the Widowmaker is free to one shot any squishies she wants, without being bothered.

Widowmaker having a one shot isn’t always high value, especially on 2CP on point B. She’s one of the worst hero to have when it comes to pushing and contesting a point. I’ve seen many many teams not being able to take point B at 100% just because their Widowmaker wouldn’t switch to another hero.

She sure did get a lot of picks from a distance but it gave her team zero value because her team wasn’t able to be aggressive enough on the objective and the enemy team had Lucio, Hammond, Mei or any hero that is good at contesting.

There are as many things that can counter dive tanks as things that can counter shield tanks currently so it all depends on the team’s ability to survive and get the kills faster. That’s not a strong argument to me. I could take the same example and replace heroes that can destroy shields in no time to state the opposite.

One word : positioning.

Other heroes can do that too (McCree, Ashe, Mei). Dive is supposed to be counterable too and it’s perfectly fine. Eventually, it all depends on how Dive and shield tanks are played but I still think running two shield tanks or one shield tank + Zarya is one of the biggest mistake one could make against Widowmaker.

Half dive can be a good option in my opinion, I disagree with you when you said ā€œhalf diveā€ is out of the question.

So someone playing tank switches to dps and i am assuming in your perfect fantasy world the dps at that time was like. ā€œYou know what i am not doing well i will switch to a role we need as a team thank you tank player for showing me the lightā€ lol.

It was more like this: you all are equally bad DPS, but since there are 3 of you and only 2 in enemy team, odds are somewhat even.

But the enemy team then have 2 tanks who out sustain your 1 tank frontline and then one of the support also switch to dps. Then 1 of the original dps begins to throw.

Thats what the reality of life before 222 was
