So the main reason I will not buy any of your loot boxes is because so far for the past 4 events(dont rem about prev events before that), every legendary skin I receive from a box is a normal non season skin. I just opened the 5 loot boxes we got for free and got 2 yellows in them which I was surprised but both of those as well were non season skins. So this event I have gotten 7 legendary skins that have been non seasonal in total. Now I know the loot boxes are all RNG and include the reg skins but its kinda stupid to be having regular skins in these boxes.
Now yes I know I can spend my gold on boxes but since the last event I spent most of my gold to buy skins I wanted from there, im only sitting at 2k gold. Which also is stupid that reg leg skins are 1k gold and the seasonal ones are 3k gold.
I think switch version has more luck lol
I mean, I just opened the boxes on switch and got 2 legendaries 1 event and 1 normal while In PC I got 1 normal legendary

I got rat king Reaper out of my first winter box. Like you said, rng. Event items have a seperate rng from the normal items though, so even if you get a normal legendary you should get an event one very soon
It is not doubtful, it is guaranteed. You are forced by the system to get a legendary by around your 23rd lootbox, and the average is every about 12 lootboxes. Since the event items are on a seperate system from normal items, you will get one by at most around 23 boxes without one
One of my loot boxes I recently opened contained two legendary event skins. So you will also find good ones hidden in the RNG as well. It’s not all doom and gloom like you make it out to be.
I definitely agree with you though: I wouldn’t buy loot boxes just yet, either (if you were considering to). You still have 9 days left to farm for more free boxes and credits, so you should be able to get at least a few more legendary skins. I already unboxed everything a few days ago, and didn’t have to spend a single credit, so the event is definitely doable. I suggest playing tanks, to at least earn your daily loot box (and for as many games as possible to earn 25 credits per game—believe me it adds up!), and also behave in-game to maintain endorsement level 3-4 and the associated 2-3 weekly Roadhog reward loot boxes. Finally, by playing for a mere few hours each day, you will have an easy 40 loot boxes (resulting in an expected three event legendary skins) before the event is over.
I am against MTX in games, especially in OW case where it’s pretty obvious the profits over the years really haven’t been reinvested into putting out content updates for the game. Given the massive record breaking profits they reported in the first year it’s funny they gave up on updates to the game to push development on OW 2 so early on.
Last two years have been a skeleton crew of half hearted updates. That said OW does have a fairly generous system compared to most, at least now. It was way more harsh at launch.
It doesn’t change the fact though that the boxes are filled with mountains of junk you don’t want. You also don’t get very many credits until you start to get duplicates on a regular basis as the chest drops are about half or less the cost of the skins themselves of the same rarity.
Still I only played this game for about a year, year and half now and pretty much anything below legendary is a duplicate. I have never bought a box, and play about a game or two a day on most days. So it’s not that bad I guess?
Though a lot of that is because Blizzard is to lazy to update the base loot box and puts the bare minim effort into updating the event boxes. Which is odd if you think about it. Loot boxes are supposed to be how OW makes money, yet they can’t be bothered to make more than 3-4 skins every few months for legendary.
