I would argue that in this day and age, Ana is much easier to play than Brig - brig primarily depends on a different skill set to Ana and that skill set isn’t traditional and not transferable, whereas Ana’s skill set is transferable because it is quite traditional.
I actually agree, how hard is to shoot your friendlies in the back who aren’t shooting at you? Brig has to close to 20m minimum to proc her Inspire off evading and often enemies that are shooting at her, otherwise its just RP’s and no damage. None. Brig does about 1K damage more than Ana at GM, not that meaningful in comparison when you factor in the amazing value that yeeting a bottle of piss (a lower skill shot than Whip-shot any day) gives you.
Ana is good, that it’s. Not OP, not broken, just good and a golden standard like Tracer.
If anything the support roster needs to grow and this time with more supports with a high skill ceiling
She is good; but she doesn’t deserve to be perpetual queen of Supports for it. If you think otherwise then I have to put you in the “skill elitist” camp on that one. On the one hand people are telling me Brig is so much easier BUt IN THE SAME BREATH telling me Ana is better. Sowhich is it? If Brig is easier but not providing as much value, we have no problem do we?
You’re presenting a bit of a false dichotomy here: use this new change in a way that’s bad/detrimental or use it the old way, the good way. As Ana player myself, I can think of many opportunities where this can be exploited, or where it makes my job easier, or relies on less skill, planning, positioning or execution to achieve what I’m trying to accomplish in the moment. I also have fewer ways nade could result in something I wasn’t intended to do. I mean think of how many millions of nades clipped some hero they weren’t intended to. How many team fights those would’ve changed the outcome of.
And I’d think the development team, during testing, also found that it could be useful in a variety of situations, expanding her options and opportunities. I think as the tech grows around this mechanic, as is often the case when a community (of millions) gets their hands on anything, we’ll see ways that this can become very impactful, opening up new attacking options, and almost certainly becoming more useful more often than once every blue moon.
How about some not braindead competition?
Everything I am discussing is GM+ and raw mechanics. I am sorry I have to critique Lucio out, but again, had he come in later people would rant at what he does… oh and a small hitbox on top…
LMAO
If it would be somewhat consistent I could agree, but there is just too much chip damage in this game, to say it’s consistent. Even if you sit behind a barrier you can still get hit by something and that is not uncommon
lmao good one, we balanced around low elo players for 4 years, we got brig, goats, power creep, double shield, moth meta, then the dev discord was made and the game was actually in the best spot it’s been last month (in the last 3 years since brig)
Ana will always be the most popular and most picked in the support category because she has the most FPS mechanical that players want to play, exactly the reason why there are so many DPS players. Ana also takes a lot of skill, the highest skill support, it makes sense that in Top 500, an Ana that is putting in a lot of skill will get a lot of value in return, Ml7 for example.
Pickrates also don’t show if a character is good or not. Genji has a high pickrate but not good, it’s because he is a popular character
Skund you cannot compete with Violet.
People, at least GM, want Ana to be viable.
For them Ana doesn’t feel cheap and she offers high skill interactions (mindgame, mechanics, etc)
Yep, as it should be, more skill = more value
Actually, that comparison is meaningful when you think about it.
Brig is meant to dish out damage for optimal value from her healing, yet she’s the third worst in damage and nearly no better than someone who can’t simultaneously deal damage and heal. Even Bap does much more damage when he can only heal or damage at a time.
If that doesn’t show you how bad Brig is and desperately needs attention then idk what to say
Agree, but there are tons of chokes, situations, and areas where no damage on a fully healed main tank or teammate is possible, or opportune moments where it’s not likely. This is certainly true at the start of team fights where teams have not engaged yet. And what Ana at a tight choke is now not going to lob a potentially lucky nade if the enemy teams are 5-8 seconds away from engaging, particularly if the enemy shield is about to crack? She can now do that without taking an off angle (assuming she’s not in a narrow corridor where an off angle is even possible), or without having to advance forward past any full health teammate, exposing her to damage or getting picked.
A hail mary ana nade chucked from an Ana too far from the point through a fully healed Rein charging in to a save the round in KOTH now potentially changes that team fight in a way that was never possible before. These are just a few scenarios. I honestly believe I could up with at least 10 scenarios where this is potentially teamfight altering if I sat here and tried, none of which are unlikely to arise over the course of a match.
And just speaking on the basis of statistics and probability, this is far, far more likely to be impactful than not.
I don’t need to, got my T500 in another game.
People just don’t want heroes they perceive as “braindead” to be meta
Exactly, if you have a low skill hero meta in Top 500, the system is broken as it basically means a low skill hero is getting more value than the other heroes who aren’t meta, and in most cases those other heroes take more skill
being able to nade through teammates is a buff. not a QOL change. stop.
god the support bias.
It doesn’t matter what you did in “another game”, we are talking OW. And the point is, she does take skill to get value from. You cannot dismiss her as “Brain dead” if everyone cannot get equal value.
We literally just proved that despite a perception of that, its not. It’s the way they used to talk about Winston and Reinhardt in the old days, they were the “brain dead” heroes along with Reaper and Mercy… then people finally accepted the kits need thought for positioning to make value. Brig is in that same spot.
