Counterpoint. Supports decide to take far off angles away from the point or choose not to engage with the team for personal reasons.
If I’m on tank, should I never push without typing to the supports if they are ready to go in? If mercy decided to res the other support at a bad time, is it the dps who needed healing’s fault that the mercy chose to res then? If we are playing a fast dive comp, is it fair for us to get punished if our ana decides to punish us for not synergizing with her by needing peeling at angles far away from the objective constantly? (and I mean positioning not walking from spawn).
There are two sides to every coin and I frequently run into supports that may as well be low quality bots regardless of the role im playing more often than dps or tank players of the same caliber.
Get large dps diffs in 5v5 stadiums all day, then finally get good dps and the tank is bad.
Agree, tank at low hp and still decides to dive in instead of retreating to get healed.
5v5: got 1 weak link and its a GG
I luv the role it is my favorite, complete no pressure roll in my opinion… No expectations to get kills, but when you beat dps in kills you can gloat, Someone annoys you stop healing them your like a god people want heals they need to brown nose you and tell you how great you are… I luv playing flanker tag… It is like do i kill you before you kill me or do I escape and rejoin the grp…
Even if he’s in a bad position or eating damage like a donut, you still gotta take the risks and heal him.
Supports can’t follow too close, because sometimes that can lead to some weird LoS issues where you’re dancing around pillars trying to get to your team mate so you can heal them and the run in the other direction, completely unaware.
But yeah…
Yep, there’s plenty of players who play certain heroes based on perceptions (Ana, somehow being perceived as being overpowered), but just can’t get the right positioning. Or they figure that because Ana is a sniper hero, she’d be like Widowmaker.
No one is trying to dodge your heals. You have a fat projectile in Scope, learn to use it. Also, don’t follow so closely, there’s never need to as Ana.
As for the topic…
Healing an ally, while a nearby ally is taking damage and close-by co-Support is available to heal, thinking that they’ll cover it, only to to find that they don’t or won’t.
Having to constantly chase down a charging tank (Rein and Mauga) to keep them alive.
Having my team’s damage-role heroes behind me, or constantly running behind me and never cover me from the flanking position, or won’t let me position behind them so I can heal them.
Having co-Supports that won’t heal until after damage is done, or the team mate is in critical health. Don’t do that.
Being 10,000 healing ahead my next two co-Supports (Lucio and Brigitte…), despite dying more often.
Everyone running in six different directions and not being able to play the Support that can do follow that, because your co-Support picked that one, and isn’t doing that.
No, Lucio, don’t run Sound Barrier when we don’t need it.
No Moira, don’t run off to Coalescence the enemy team that has attentive healing, you won’t get a kill.
No, Zenyatta, Transcendence won’t save the team from Self-Destruct.
Stop putting Tidal Blast on yourself Wuyang.
Venture, I can’t heal you when you go underground after coming back to the team.
Mei, I need to heal my team, turn off the Ice Wall
Stay with the team, Sombra.
Juno, use your Pulsars for the team, not just the enemy.
Moira, stop throwing damaging Biotic Orbs
Lucio, stop running ahead of the team
Mercy, get off the Tank, and try using Damage-boost.
Lifeweaver, stop grabbing everyone you can heal comfortably.
Kiriko, heal your team, and use Protection Suzu more often.
lol, no. I’ll play to win the game, not to keep someone alive that has only been a negative contribution to our team, at the expense of putting myself at a high risk of dying.
When I was in lower ranks trying to climb weather it was with Lifeweaver or Baptiste I will tell you this sort of thinking kept me hard stuck FOR A WHILE I had to break so many bad habits.
I really hope you don’t talk to the other support players in your matches, since you have absolutely no understanding of the game and the role whatsoever.
My main experience, when playing Support is making call outs and people complaining I didn’t warn them. “Are you on VC mate? No? Thats on you then, isnt it?”
Conversation stopper.
Yeah, people who complain about teammates after a victory leave a really bad taste in the mouth. I had 6v6 game during the Wu trial where me (Wu) and Lucio were the two supports on the team. After we took the first round of Lijang, our Bastion and Zarya started moaning about the lack of healing, which intensified during the second round that we also won, along with the whole game. The parting shot at the hero poses screen being, “OMG, their team had double the healing of ours.”
We easily won, friend. What are you even mad about.
im in optimal psition to see rest of the team and a bit of enemy.
see ally with low hp but behind 2 walls I cant go around or jump over them.
spaming ’ Come to me and I will heal you!’ till I get info that I need to wait 5s.
just to see that ally with critick hp, dive more in to enemy and die
3s after that in chat “heals?”
does teammates not see icon of ‘+’ above supports and does not hear “comme to me and I will heal you!” ??
question the mentality of players (in qp and rank)
not seen, not heard, doesn’t adapt to situation, never swaps, feedind but it’s team’s fault
genji vs winton/full charged zarya, sym, moira - yes that’s a good plan I just diflect
ow classic = 5dd + 1support * doesnt stick to team = complain support doesnt heal / bad team / why no tank? / swap from dd to dd, dies more, leaves the game. ow1 in nutshell
Probably the worst thing to see in the scoreboard. Your team losing. In the first 3 minutes of payload. And you have 8000 healing. While the enemy team healers combined. Only have 3000.
When someone I’m supporting is toxic I do the opposite, as long as my other support’s got our other 2 covered, I follow the toxic person around relentlessly pocketing & rezzing them, saying “You’re welcome!” every time I save them from a bad dive and “Someone call the whambulance!” or the laugh emote whenever they screw up and die despite the pocket, while saying nothing in chat and letting them seethe.
