The is the worst meta in Overwatch

I mean you can say the same for people who want the game to be a first person RPG where nothing ever dies. Or is this criticism only valid when talking about the FPS crowd?

People who hate dying and are mad that they can’t just hold left click all day to keep everyone alive should just play Final Fantasy XIV or another MMO.

As a FFXIV player I feel personally attacked…

I love that description. But I would like to add personal touch:

  • Yes, I hate dying, especially if game tries to force me into position to die;
  • I don’t mind teammates dying, if we got reserves. In Overwatch, there is no backup and no reinforcements.

I only played XIV for about 22 hours but

PRESSING MEDICA II INTENSIFIES

I’m more than used to it…I spend majority of time in mh and qpc…barriers are often a luxury…whenever I go to comp people legitimately look afraid…

(This goes for some tanks as well)

Very interesting, now I wonder why it is that even at OWL level they are not using this “ALL TAB” method of yours. Instead the choose to separate heroes in 3 categories. Why could that be…

Sarcasm mode: off.

The numbers you just stated are literally basic math that even a dog with a calculator would be able to perform. However, this is a flawed way of obtaining results to make a conclusion.

Following this (flawed) logic of comparing apples to watermelons, Blizz would not be nerfing heroes like Orisa, for instance, since according this logic she has had a 1.93% pickrate for the past 3 months and a low 49.52% winrate on the same period of time.

HOWEVER, when you do the smart thing and compare apples to apples, and perform a PER RANK analysis, things change greatly and suddeny the same weak Orisa is a force to be reckoned with on ranks like GM. AND since we are balancind the game TOP-DOWN (Blizz’ words not mine), utilizing this “ALL TAB” analysis is literally futile/useless.

Furthermore, by this logic of yours, Blizz should have never nerfed Brig but instead they should have nerfed Ana, Reinh, Moira, Zar, Genji, Ashe, etc. since their pickrate can literally be 3x to 5x times higher than Brig’s. Although, anyone on his right mind knows there are many other variables to account and she MUST be compared to others on the same role, since she is competing directly with them regardless of the already fixed number of slots per role.

The only thing that confuses me is how you try to defend this “ALL TAB” analysis even though its utility is close to zero when it comes to real world decisions. In fact I have never even seen Devs using this approach to get things done, and they were the ones who created the game. What could that be? lol

Sorry, but people need to die to keep matches going :man_shrugging:

What kind of reinforcements do you think other games have?

The minions in League?

Can only speak about TF2: we have larger team, than necessary. So as long as I can maintain teammates in good condition, eventually we will overrun enemy defences with numbers.

22 hours… I’ve been playing for 1030 days

I’ve never played TF2,but PvP games usually have 5 players on each team,so I guess OW’s 6 players per team thing is a blessing?

Not for me, as it means, that you can’t afford any deaths at all, if you want to progress.

Fortified positions in TF2 often required ~5 teammates dying, before enemy has to reload or defence starts breaking. If it’s very good position(one narrow path, that can be spammed with explosives), you would need invulnerability in addition to it.

I have a lot of friends who could say the same I’m sure :’)

I’m just not the fan of subscription based services/games tbh. Having to pay for the ability to play after buying a base game and expansions is just too much imo.

Not gonna lie, that sounds like hell

Eh, with MMOs you pay what you can get. I have no problem with paying for FFXIV, besides I just buy time cards instead of actual subbing

Sigma loses 200 health on his barrier and all of a sudden dps reigns supreme? Gonna hit that one with the big doubt

Yeah… The thing is, people is arguing how this is a FPS only game, not FPS MOBA nor FPS RPG. In fact, Blizz advertise this game as a Competitive FPS game. Not as a FPS RPG or a FPS MOBA, which in turn means they want to compete with games like CS: GO, Valorant, CoD and others.

Question is, do you really believe that OW (with its unique gameplay and THREE DIFFERENT CATEGORIES) is really a pure competitive FPS game that should get the same treatment of any other normal FPS?

Devs just stated they are focusing only on the FPS aspect of the game when in reality you have two other categories (and even heroes on the DPS role) that do not rely entirely on FPS mechanics. How do you think something like this will turn out?

My opinion: Things will end up badly IF they only focus on the FPS aspect of the game. Just my opinion, though.

It’s why TF2 always has use for class like Spy - sabotaging defence from within, or disrupting teleporters, so no reinforcements can arrive to frontline, makes advancing easier.

In general, it’s like all out war - with offensive and defensive operations, diversions, and supply lines.

TTK is beyond frustrating - as a tank I cannot protect myself or team for more than 1 second. As a support i can’t heal through anything substantial without an ult. DPS and Roadhog look like they are having fun though. Feels like a good time to take a break from this game.

Lucky for you, they just buffed Roadhog!

If you needed double barrier to survive it shows how reliant you were on safety crutches. Lots of dps are gonna need certain reverts they got for double shield, but its very telling when people claim the games not functional if they can’t hide behind a shield all game.
